Yet another newbie intro
The newbie slays a 0-post monster.
I am interested in AD&D, AD&D 2e, Basic D&D, OD&D, and their OSR retro-clones, all of which are much more common on this forum compared to other play-by-post sites.
I started with Basic D&D in 1981 but switched to AD&D within about a year. I dabbled with several systems (Star Frontiers, Cyberpunk, GURPS 3e, Villains & Vigilantes, to name a few) but AD&D was always my favourite. I played regularly until 1995 when busy lives finally shutdown my usual gaming group for good.
I returned to RPGs in 2009 while looking for something to do on Google Wave. That was my first experience with play-by-post gaming, which basically ended with Wave. In 2014, I played a few OSRIC sessions on Roll20 when an old friend wanted to test the service. Currently, I am learning MapTool for the same reason. Meanwhile, some play-by-post should satisfy the urge for some AD&D.

Thanks for the welcome, Ron.
But the newbie has rolled a natural 20 and made a second post, thus joining the USS Clan in spite of the anti-spam measures in their way!

Welcome again and enjoy!

You can just tell by the welcome posts what kind of folks inhabit this forum.
Mos Eisley it's not.
The members here are awesome!

Welcome to the USS forums, brother from another mother! I was very much the same way, except throw BattleMech and TMNT And Other Strangeness in there, as well.
The former was very rules-heavy and tedious to run or play. But I absolutely loved all of the illustrations in the rule books and supplemental books.
The latter was absolutely fun and I think TMNTAOS would translate well into the PbP format. Especially if we had a resident artist who could properly cartoon up the characters once they're made.
Anyway... welcome.
Cheers,
Alethan

Welcome aboard! I think you'll find plenty of games that fit what you're looking for.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Yeah that is a fair number of them on here. Then there are folks like me that started in the early 90's.tomlowshang wrote:"So you played RPG's in the 80s? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more!" describes most users here.
