Soruk
After hearing Zahra's request, he looks around the room for debris or objects to help block the tunnels. "I am looking. Doth not do aught rash, warrior."
Soruk will examine the sarcophagus to determine if it could be defiled further into movable pieces. As he does so, he will smash an egg or three to see if they have been fertilized.

Kiri will help hand up any rubble to block the passage, should that prove a viable option.

Garrin helps Kiri with the rubble.

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Fourth Tier of the Great Pyramid
Lost City of Khemsa, Forgotten Kingdom of Verulia, Great Eastern Desert, the World of Hyboria
Day Three. Early afternoon. 15th day of the month of Yuluk, 1279th year of the Age of Aquilonia
Arthfael the shaman examines the remaining papyrus scrolls in the sundered sarcophagus. Most are damaged beyond recognition, but one appears to possess magic hieroglyphic runes.
It has been intentionally torn in half. The other half is nowhere to be found.
As Amethu and Mako take their rest, Loche the Pict and Xorzen of Osorus search the northeastern door for booby traps and find none. Xorzen picks the antique lock and they slowly push the door open, revealing a corridor that extends into the ancient shadows.
Meanwhile, Garrin, Kiri and Soruk bring their strength to bear, hauling and heaving stone rubble up into the ceiling hole.
After much hard labor, Zahra barricades two channels and crawls down a third. It soon branches into five more tunnels.
The fierce amazon realizes there isn't enough rubble in the fourth tier of the Great Pyramid to forge safe passage in this tunnel of forking paths.
Then she hears distant chittering echoing in the labyrinthine grub warren.
Coming from the north.
Slowly growing louder...

Zahra
Zahra mutters a curse. She begins crawling backward, glancing back over her shoulder to keep herself on the right track.

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Kiri is quite interested in both the newly opened door and, perhaps even more so, in the scroll fragments uncovered by Amethu. "I bet that one's marking out a trap..." he says as an aside. His focus, however, is on the ceiling and waiting for some sign from Zahra - surely she'll have the sense not to venture too far on her own? Strength is useless against a creature that can simply turn it off...
He waits what he considers a reasonable amount of time before calling up to the opening, "Hey, Zahra! What's the deal up there?" He cocks his head to listen for her response. Seeing as how his shield did not prevent him being paralyzed last time, he stores it and his trident and pulls out his two-handed sword. "Twinsies," he says with a head nod and a smile to Soruk, then looks back up at the hole.

Zahra
Something's *uff* coming. Hard to talk and crawl *grunt* backwards. Yes, this was a bad idea, *ooof* you may mock me when I get back.

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Xorzen continues looking around the new hall's entrance, concerned that this area could be another trap. He nods again to Loche, hoping he will also search with his keen eye.
"Could yon passage lead the wayeth to the very tomb we seek? Or is this simply another deadly end?"
If they don't spot any tell tale signs of trickery, the masked monk enters the hallway to explore the first stretch of its length.

Loche agrees and assents to Xorzen's request and checks the new hallway for traps.

Soruk
Pyramid Tier 4, Hole watching
Soruk chuckles at the large man's humor. "Tis good to seeth thine humor is intact. Oft I think that is keeping me sane."
His dark thoughts lifted a bit when he heard Zahra's voice, but her words are concerning. "Be ready if it be true something cometh through."

From out of the labyrinthine tunnels of the gargantuan grub, the shrieking chittering of another monstrous leviathan echoes forth.
Zahra quickly begins crawling backwards. It’s an agonizingly slow process in the cramped warren. The blood curdling screeches grow louder as the amazon struggles back in the winding claustrophobic channels, hoping she remembers her way.
Suddenly, without warning, Zahra plunges down the hole into the chamber of the sundered sarcophagus.
She lands on her feet, with chivalric Garrin’s aid.
The Verulian amazon looks around the violated crypt and sees:
Mako and Amethu are readying to rest and recover their sorcerous strength.
Arthfael and Kiri stand near the mummified ancient, examining a fragment of papyrus that bears a map. The man mountain of the East points at an “X” and says, "I bet that one's marking out a trap.”
Loche and Xorzen have safely opened the northeastern door and slowly advanced down a corridor with Amethu's borrowed lantern, searching for traps and finding only that it turns back in the direction of the great Hall of Heroes.
Soruk of Osorus has destroyed three eggs laid in the dry abdomen of a mummy, discovering that they were indeed fertilized. The masked Verulian giant secures a length of the broken coffin lid, and readies to use it to barricade the maw in the ceiling directly over Zahra's head.

Kiri approaches the sarcophagus, and, provided there is room to do so without blocking Soruk, steps up onto it to be nearer the hole. He then readies his two-handed sword to thrust into the hole at the first sign of tentacle.

Xorzen follows along with the pict cautiously, hoping to find nothing more dangerous than the empty connecting passageway. He holds the lantern out for Loche as he checks the walls, ceilings, and floors along the way.

Zahra
Be careful! I think it's coming!
Zahra herself backs away from the opening and readies a javelin to throw if another one of those things pokes its ugly head out. (she's backing up about 15 feet, well out of tentacle range.)

Amethu readies himself for combat since his studying seems to be about to be imminently interrupted. "I would counsel fire against any further attacks from these abominable slugs"
OOC: not sure about how much time has passed but figure Amethu needs a good 3hrs to recover 3 1st level spells he has used?

Soruk
As soon as Zahra drops down, he tries to put the lid in the hole and jam it inside. He'll grab another piece if more is needed. "Couldst someone prithee smasheth those eggs? i wouldst hate for those folk to hatch."
