This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Re: THREAD OF INFINITE APPRECIATION
Thanks everyone- mods, DMs, and players- for making this such a great community to be a part of!
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Re: THREAD OF INFINITE APPRECIATION
I am thankful for being a veteran; having a chance to serve a cause much greater than myself. It has ruined me, in some ways. I can't get excited about going to work just for the paycheck. I can't understand staying in one geographical location more than a few years, there is too much of the world yet to see. I grew up poor, and then saw real poverty in Panama. I liked American history, and then saw the date "1776" on the cornerstone of a small foot bridge in Venice. I love hamburgers and fries, but remember the jägerschnitzel in Füssen. And the beer!
Appalachia had everything I dreamed of, and then I learned how small my dreams were. I thought I had met different types of people, and then realized the variety of cultures we are blessed with.
Military service pushed me beyond my capabilities. I am thankful for my stupid choices and absolute failures, they let me see others in a forgiving light. Sometimes, in the darkness, I see how easy it would be to give up. While I no longer wear that uniform, I still serve a cause much greater than myself. I am a person of faith, and I cannot quit while others need me. One day my life will end, without rank or medals. My hope, and my cause, is to be good and faithful.

Thank you for your service!
That's one of the bets posts I've read in some time. Anywhere.

Re: THREAD OF INFINITE APPRECIATION
Please let me clarify one thing, I hope you understand. My military service impacted me greatly, and I am grateful. But two of those memories, Venice and Füssen, came after I left the military and my wife went in. My life has been better because of her, and for that I am very thankful.
