There's only so far Grothnak will go to avoid hurting people that are trying to kill him.OGRE MAGE wrote:Bo is just about to go into his long schpeel about not killing innocent townsfolk, even if they are hooded like some kind of evil cultists. But when he sees that some of his mates are already taking care not to kill these people, he keeps his mouth shut for once.
He spins his spear around like a martial artist and tries to smash the butt into the side of the head of the closest marauder. C1
But he only gets into the way of the real fighters.
Spear Attack [1d20] = 4 Damage [1d6] = 3
Also, it's amazing how full that town was of villagers with class levels. No wonder the cultists targeted it.

Re: Unutterable Blasphemies (ooc and questions lV)
not hurting the poor controlled villagers is all well and good, unless they are trying to push you into a bottomless pit then F them.

Hi Ale, I'm assuming this is spoken aloud because it's blue for dialogue. But how loud does he say it please? Is he speaking to himself or to the group? Thanks.AleBelly wrote:Pelias cannot bear to permanently harm the robed figures. What if the Gades are under those robes? he wonders.

Ah crap. Meant to italicize this. Should be his internal dialog.Inferno wrote:wolfpack wrote:not hurting the poor controlled villagers is all well and good, unless they are trying to push you into a bottomless pit then F them.I'd like that motto on a T-shirt.

If Brevos does not hear that spoken aloud, he would not be using the flat of his blade FYI

Gotta call out some kudos to the visual aids, Inferno, well done. Nice touch with the two dudes falling into the abyss

Inferno,
Are you not using this rule re: attacks to overbear?
Are you not using this rule re: attacks to overbear?
Or this rule on attack order?DMG p. 73 wrote:Opponents With Weapons Used Normally: If the opponent of a grappling, pummeling or overbearing attack has a weapon, the opponent will always strike first unless the attacker has surprise. Any weapon hit does NO damage, but it does indicate that the attacker trying to grapple, pummel or overbear hos been fended or driven off, and the attack is unsuccessful. The weapon-wielder then has the opportunity to strike at the weaponless one "for real", if he or she so chooses. Surprised opponents with weapons have no chance for a fending-off strike, unless the attacker must use all surprise segments to close to grapple, pummel, or overbear.
Determination of First Attack Initiative: Surprise, charging to attack, higher dexterity, higher die roll - in that order. Attacker attempting to overbear need not go first to so attack.
Re: Unutterable Blasphemies (ooc and questions lV)
Hi Zhym,
No, because they aren't grappling, pummeling or overbearing. They're pushing the PCs back. I'm only using the overbearing rules to determine chance of success of a push attempt. As discussed before, a real overbearing attack would cause hit point damage as well as knock an opponent to the ground, stagger them, trigger additional attacks on them, or stun them. None of that is happening here.

Does Hoom not get an action for last round after successfully avoiding the overbear?

He does! You didn't post one before I abruptly moved things along. Sorry.DadsAngry wrote:Does Hoom not get an action for last round after successfully avoiding the overbear?
Please post two actions now and your first one preempts all other actions next round.
