I don't see anything in the PHB that says rangers can't get lost. Please let me know if I'm missing it.

Please roll 1d100 for the ranger's tracking ability. You want low. The two feet of water will negatively impact your chances. Good luck!

Since it's now clear that either Bo or Sephus was mistaken or lying, if the party continues onward against Urdur's advice, will the dark gnome and his cage brother, Hoom, join them or turn back? It's not yet midday. Thanks.

Hoom would not unless more are turning back. Hoom doesn't think that just him and Urdur would make it out alive. They need more support to make it out of the swamp. Preferable someone with good fighting skill and navigation.
