My first RPG experience was D&D 2E, though I barely remember it to be honest (my friend's dad DM'd, I was about 12). I do have a disquieting memory of a carrion crawler, though...
Growing up I played a lot of 3.5E at a community hall, DM'd by a great guy who sold dog food for a living. We played a few other games during this time, including Call of Cthulhu. I may have also participated in a LARP, but the less said about that the better.
As an adult I play board games regularly with my friends, and we've also had good runs of Star Wars (the new Fantasy Flight system), 5E and Dungeon World - DM'd by me. I enjoy a range of games, but my favourites are Torchbearer and Freebooters on the Frontier (a DW hack). In different ways, both capture the deadliness & stress of adventuring in the wild and also avoid the power creep that can spoil more mainstream RPGs.
Anyway, I probably went on too long here - but hi!
