Peeks around AdaRue's skirt once more, trying to get a better look but not yet proceeding forward.

Seven long minutes pass before those in front notice movement at the corner of the passage and cavern entrance. The ferrets, now almost completely having devoured their initial food offering, begin to get restless... then another bit of rations gets tossed in their direction from inside the cavern. The ferrets, apparently not having already had their fill, turn towards this new gift.

Almost as soon as it happens, Tom emerges from around the corner and safely sneaks back to rejoin the group. Junius, Tippin, and the rest backing up a bit to not leave everyone "stuck" within view of the ferrets.

Tom shakes his head as he ushers the others back to the main chamber, safely away from the ferrets, "Weren't nothing but some dead rats back there in a dead-end cave. Let's check elsewhere..."

"Are our new ferret friends coming with us?" asks Tippin hopefully.

Backing away from the ferret cave, Rainey asks "Back to the water cave, or should we try the other cave that smelled like rodent?"

Mila

Moves flat to the wall again allowing those leading by and following close behind AdaRue Checking over her shoulder for ferrets.

Watts happily heads back to the main cave.

Junius follows in line, glad he didnt risk his life for a rodent dessert.

The group returns to the main cave area and contemplates their next move. "Back to the water cave, or should we try the other cave that smelled like rodent?" Rainey asks.

Some scurrying sounds are heard coming from the direction of the suspected mischief of rats.

"Let us start with the rats," suggests Keebler.

"You know what's good at hunting rats?" says Tippin brightly. "Ferrets!"

"Breadcrumbs." she utters softly up to the others. "Like in Hansell and Grendel. "

Tom shakes his head. "The ferrets is already eatin' the rats - did you not hear me say there was dead rats in the ferret cave? If you want that to happen, we shouldn't have fed the rations to the ferrets!"

"Are there any other caves besides the three?"

Well, I don't want any of that rabies-stuff what was mentioned earlier. So, though I don't want to get wet, I'm more willing to go that way. It just seems safer. AdaRue does what she can to help dress Watts' wounds, telling him to try and keep it dry if they do go into the water. You don't want to get the ague.

Chastised again, she retreats into herself.

"Well, I don't want any of that rabies-stuff," AdaRue says as she helps Watts dress his wounds. "So, though I don't want to get wet, it just seems safer," she adds.

Absent disagreement, Tom leads the group back to the larger passage and enters the 10-foot wide entrance first. Shortly after entering, the passage narrows, and it doesn't take long before what was once a comfortable opening constricts into a sturdy stone tunnel that is barely 5-feet wide. After roughly 20-feet, the halfling finds himself standing at the familiar 'Y' split -- the first branch angles off sharply to the right; the other, a foot deeper into the current passage, branches off narrowly to the left.


Peering down each, the halfling can only see that they appear to wind in their respective directions as far as their light can shine. No sights, sounds, or smells emanate from either.
