Lightfinger

The Halfling stands there and stares at the Zombie sizzling like bacon from a mere touch of an old Man he thought was in peril. What just happened here? He asks of the orange Half-Orc and the Bear Man, but they have already found more interesting pursuits. He hears a familiar feminine voice taunting him from his original goal, the tree house.
hey, my brave hobbit friend, stop that creature fleeing or it will bring more undead reinforcements from the crypts, quick you may be our last hope tonight
Lightfinger throws his arms wide in exasperation. What am I, a retrieving hound?? He yells in response, There are already 4 or 5 big, large lads after it now, and I've ... I've bloodied my blade!! He seems almost shocked. My fine, worked sword, and it's covered in ... This isn't blood, it's almost like tar! Eww! He quickly looks for something to wipe the muck from his sword, then hurries to the tree house.

Chauncey the Adequate

As the battle winds down, Chauncey tears his eyes from the fascinating spectacle of the grasping vines and turns his attention to retrieving whatever darts he can from the eye-sockets and foreheads of the zombies he "helped" dispatch. Disgusting. Note to self he thinks some sort of non-mind affecting combat spell would be useful in future for battling creatures with no minds... He has a feeling Sleep would have gotten about as much result as a damp handkerchief in this instance.

Once things have settled, he'll approach the man who greeted them from the porch of the hi-lo. "Good day to you, sir. I am Chauncey the Adequate. Would you be so kind as to give my associates and I the lay of the land, as it were? For example, the zombie attacks - are they to be expected as a daily occurrence? " he says, eyebrow raised. "Oh, good afternoon, to you miss..." he adds, addressing Bonnie. "You are a resident, I take it? Charmed."

"Bonnie"
Monocar
Turning then to Bonnie, always weak to a pretty face, "So.... Come here often?" The delightful idiot flashes a smile.
Bonnie winks at the charming fighter "No, the zombie infested beach thing doesn't do it for me. I usually prefer a more civilized setting. But it looks like we have to get acquainted in a moment, the shrubbery seems to be wilting."
Chauncey the Adequate
"Oh, good afternoon, to you miss..." he adds, addressing Bonnie. "You are a resident, I take it? Charmed."
Turning to Chauncey: "People call me Bonnie. I guess I am a resident, at least as of two days ago. Glad to meet some people who are competent." She looks him up and down then smiles broadly at Chauncey. "And interesting."

Ferris

Daunted by the prospect of several locks, Ferris will walk around the perimeter of the building onto the porch landing where this Nehru is standing, dodging the remaining grasping vines and the straining zombie. "So this is Shiny Island then, where's the hotels, the taverns, the mines?" he asks quizzically.

Welcome Wagon Wind Down
Round Last

As the chaos begins to die down, Wes decides to dispel his magic weeds in order to do away with the trapped zombie. He shouts to the others to get ready to attack when Brifrig races off towards the next entangled monster. Wes and Monocar are able to eliminate their adversary as the dwarf swings his long handled pole arm at the next one, killing it almost single handedly.

Krystal calls down to Lightfinger as he wipes his soiled blade off in the dry sand. She tells him to race after the fleeing zombie, which he promptly decides against doing. Instead, he complains a bit before heading to the ladder leading up to the bar. He sees that Raythan has beaten him to the climb. The half-elf stands on the top of the ladder listening at the entryway. He hears the dark skinned man greeting Krystal as he tells the two drunken patrons to return to their stools. "Hello there, my name is Randall, and who might you be?"

Saracen is glad to see that the devastation caused by these undead monsters was kept to a minimum. He tracks the path of the fleeing enemy as he asks around as to what has just happened here. A dirty looking woman covered in bug bites replies to the ginger cleric. "This has happened once before, but there was only two of them the first time! They walked right down the logging trail as far as we could tell! No idea where they came from though!" Luther moves forward to get a better shot off at the deserter as Jack FINALLY jumps off of the ship and runs up the dock towards the others. The sailors waste no time shoving back away from the dock as the ship begins to head towards the cliffs.

Chauncey introduces himself to Bonnie who smiles and returns his pleasantries. Ferris continues around the solid looking Hi-Lo, noting that this building looks as though it was built with much better materials and quality than all of the others he has seen so far. The trio addresses the brown skinned Mr. Nehru, certain that he is the leader of this beach town. "Yes, yes! Welcome newcomers! It seems that you have arrived just in time to help. Thank you all for that very much!" The lightly dressed man looks like he is between about 40 and 50 years old. He is fairly tall and very thin, with straight shoulder length salt and pepper hair. "To answer your questions, no, this is not a daily event. Yes, this island is sometimes known as Shiny island, or Big Shiny if you will. And, I'm afraid what you see is what you get little fella. Now, can we get some help tossing these dead bodies on the fire before someone becomes sick from them, please?"

Saracen thanks the woman for her candor, happy to see his heritage hasn't adversely affected things with the humans here.

Thinking it is a good idea to burn the bodies just in case, the orange robed holy champions begins to assist in lugging the corpses to the central pyre.

"These zombie attacks, are the reanimated remains of anyone you recognise from the town? Perhaps people who have gone missing? Or natives to the island perhaps. Are there any native gods of the undead or death worshipped here abouts do you know?" he asks Mr Nehru as he closes the distance. The half-orc looks over the remains of the zombies for any branding or marking that might help either identify where they originated from or which power called them to unlife once again.

Monocar Jemara

Flexes more to assure himself that he is free once the vines let go then from stiffness. He eyes the vegetation wearily as it recedes and makes a mental note for the next time he sees that spell cast to stay the @#$%&! away. He quickly occupies himself with helping to dispatch the last zombie and seems all too happy to help drag the corpses into the fire. Once that is done he makes a b-line for the shore to wash his hands, completely disgusted by the idea of touching the undead creatures. "Yuck! Can you believe how gross these things are? I mean, they smell like week old milk that has been sitting in the sun... no wait... worse than that... Like old man Sprinter's horse barn on a hot day... no... wait... I would prefer that to these things... More like that waste bin outside the butcher shop. Yeah... on a hot summer day with the flies and all... Man, these things are gross... where the heck do they come from? I thought when you were dead you stayed dead..." By now he had wondered over to Saracen. "Do we need to worry about this sort of thing? I mean, there are graveyards in every town I passed through on my way to Salt Marsh... Are they going to have these things coming out too? Why do we bury things if they come back? I mean, isn't that the point in burying them to begin with? Should we be burning them like this first? Oh! I know, what if we got a bunch of big heavy rocks and put on all of the graves... then they can't get out... Wait... where did Captain Quark go?" he eyes the horizon and looks confused. "Um... I think we might be stuck here a while... Our ride back has gone. How Rude!"

He look around. "Hey, where did that girl go?" he looks around for Bonnie and launches into another tangent retelling his (mis)adventure in the vines with the lovely elven lady that he saw and the "Guy that looked like he was in charge." "Maybe we should go to that castle and see what we can find out." he suggest to Saracen.

Wes

Once the turmoil has subsided, Wes helps drag a few bodies onto the fire. After that he takes a closer look at his surroundings. He's intrigued by the idea of the tavern up in the branches, combining as it does his two favourite things: trees and beer. Hmm...I wonder if I could open up a place like that back home? he ponders to himself.

Despite feeling that he's more than earned a pint or three, Wes decides to worry about finding a place to stay first. While he's no stranger to sleeping under the stars, he doesn't like the idea of doing it on a zombie-infested stretch of beach. Looking around he also figures that accommodation might be in sort supply around here, and likely to be even shorter with a boatload of new arrivals all searching for a place. He walks back to the Hi-Lo to talk to Mr Nehru about where to find a bed for the next few days.

Miss Tal

Flips a gold coin to Randall, the dark skinned youth. "Well, that should buy us both a drink to quench my thirst after days of travel., she says and takes a seat at the bar. Krystal points to the obvious difference culturally and dress between him and the other patrons, "I would guess you know this place at lot better than them. Do you range far into the forest, can you tell me what's beyond the hills? If I ever needed a trustworthy guide are you the fellow?"

Jack, lost boy:

The ancient youth combs the beach, recovering as many of his arrows as he can.

Then Jack makes a beeline for the amazing treehouse. He excitedly climbs up into it and smiles as he enjoys the view of the area from its lofty height.

Brufrig Granitesunder

After helping dispose of the zombies, Brufrig looks up at the Treehouse. Now what kind of idiot- never mind, gotta be an elf. Nobody else dumb enough to put a bar in a tree. Clearly, they don't get anyone indulging in dwarf-level drinking, just a bunch of humans and elves drinking that floofy elven wine. No real drinkers are gonna climb up and down a tree. I'm not gonna risk falling out of that. Anyone with sense would do their drinking on the ground, he grumbles, not noticing or caring if there is anyone within earshot or not.

Luther

Guessing I can go ahead and try to finish Dead Eddie..

attack [1d20] = 12
arrow [1d6] = 1

attack [1d20] = 9
arrow [1d6] = 3

If the thing doesn't drop (probably won't, with those rolls), Luther will set his duffel down and trot after it, intending to get up close and quit wasting arrows to re-kill it. Hey! We still got a lively one!

I should have posted this here instead of the ooc thread. The old man being attacked was killed by the zombie. He looks like every other bug bitten, sunburned commoner in Beachtown. The elderly man in robes that helped Lightfinger looks like an adventurer type. He has since wandered off somewhere. There are about 30 or so other people wandering around town at the moment. About half of them are dressed up for adventuring, and the rest look to be simple townsfolk. (very simple) Not many of the adventuring types look as "adequate" as yourselves, however.

The zombie bodies are clearly very old, almost skeleton-like, actually. Any flesh left on their bones is nearly nonexistent. There is no dirt falling off of them like most other "buried" creatures. They look like they might have been tribal warriors in life but only because of their garb.

Mr. Nehru
"I certainly don't recognize them! There are NO gods worshiped here as far as I know. And that is the way we would like to keep it around here! Religion has been the demise of far too many settlements just starting out and I would like to eliminate any petty battles over which god is the best out here if at all possible."

When Wes inquires about a bed.....
"Yes, I would be the person to speak with regarding shack rentals or a bed in the common building. But, please come see me in my office at the back of the Hi-Lo after we get things cleaned up and back to normal out here first, OK?

The Bear rushes after the lone fleeing zombie. As he fires, the thing walks into the tree line and disappears into the jungle.

After a short time, and with the help of many of the towns eclectic residents, the dead are all gathered up and tossed onto the fire.

Lightfinger and Jack wait at the bottom of the ladder for Raythan to enter the Treehouse.

Brufrig the dwarf doesn't seem to be interested in going to the tavern? This is indeed a strange place if that is the case.

"Bonnie"

After helping direct the gathering and disposal of the zombies, Bonnie looks around at the group.
"Excellent work gentlemen, a fine display of superior tactics and weaponry. Now let's go check out that bar and get a drink!" Bonnie exclaims quite pleased with the situation.

She notices the dwarf muttering to himself at the base of the treehouse and wanders his way.
"Not a bad idea, tactically, I guess. At least falling onto sand is better than rock, and this way we can see who can hold his drink." Bonnie pauses and tilts her head. "You're not quite my type dwarf, but let me buy you a drink to thank you. I'm Bonnie."

Saracen nods to Monocar in an attempt to agree with everything he says, but quickly loses track.

The half-orc listens to Mr N talk about the island and frowns deeply as the discussion turns to religion. His green eyes narrow and his demeanour darkens. The holy champion remains silent however and takes in everything the man says.

"So there are no missing here abouts?" he clarifies when the human leader is finished. "I saw a wizard electrocute one of the zombies, so it's clear Beachtown has some magic-users living amongst you, but what of clergy or Druidic healing of any kind?" Hearing tell of a shack or room to rent the half-orc enquiries as to how much for each and purchases one as close to shore as he can.
What's the temperature upon the island if you don't mind me asking?
He accompanies Monocar to the treetop bar and settles in with a mug of home brew and listens to the others talking of what just happened etc.

Thinking his main priorities are to secure a roof over his head and find out what sort of work is available the half-orc asks around the bar for any tales of what's been occurring work wise around these parts
