Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks: Chp. 3
The Ravenous Gryev, slack-jawed and slavering, springs after the mutant rabbit.

Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks: Chp. 3
Sorry, I couldn't remember where everyone was positioned. I thought most of us climbed back up already but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Fingal smiles his nasty, gapped tooth grin as the princess touches him.
"How did you three come to be in this place! We came through a doorway on the upper levels. What parts of this place have you already searched? Do you have a plan in place to escape this metal tomb?"
Once the thief sees Gryev go for the rabbit, he comments again.
"We might have one less idiot to deal with pretty soon."

Getafix WIS (17) [4d6] = 12 wanders into the woods.
Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks: Chp. 3
Asherrion thanks the maid Ariel. As we appear to be joining forces, where to next?he asks her and her barbarian friend.
Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks: Chp. 3
"Thank you," Andover tells the lizard man before downing the rest of the potion. It helps...a little.
Potion of healing: [1d8] = 2
"It seems the others are not coming back up," he says with a sigh. He wonders, not for the first time, what he did to piss off the Grand Duke and draw this assignment.

Swilbosh hisses grimly at the mammal warrior, Andover: "No. Our chancessss of ssssurvival die with the mindssss of our healerssss.
"We've not found the way out. The mad golemssss will not heal ussss. The booted doctor is gone. It would take weekssss to heal our woundssss naturally. Oddssss are low we will randomly find healing magic ssssomewhere in this madhousssse dungeon.
"Perhapssss an imprissssoned plant below has healing propertiessss?"
The barbaric reptile leaned over the railing. "Prune the plantmen'ssss throatssss before they awaken."

Candy smiles at Ariel, revealing her filed teeth. "You're more helpful than these drooling f*ckwits" thanks the tattooed witch, waving her arm generally in the direction of the enfeebled members of her party...though it's tough to tell for sure.
"Stick with me" she continues. "My spells are more...offensive...in nature."

"What a pleasant young lady," says Wrenly hands on hips. "Are you skilled in all forms of magic? Sorcerous and divine? You're kind of freaking me out.... in a good way." He turns to the idiots, regarding them for a moment. "We can't very well leave themin this jungle, alone - or anywhere in this complex, I suppose. My conscience simply would not support it. Let's tie their wrists together and lead them like school children. Who knows? Perhaps we may find a wondrous cure for their condition amongst the marvels of this place... Lead on, fearless and benign leader!" He waits expectantly for Porphyry's plan of action. We could have chosen a more altruistic leader, all considered, he thinks.

Brother Puddington listens to the pleasant sounds of the jungle and blows spit bubbles.
Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks: Chp. 3
Porphyry looks up when Wrenly addresses him as leader, clearly missing any intended irony. Puffing out his chest, he says, "More healing, and escape are the priorities. If the empty-skulled among us are a liability in either regard, this is a good a place to abandon them as any. That one barbarian looks entirely at home." He indicates the direction Gryev departed in.
Gesturing towards Puddington, he continues, "On the other hand, if we can keep them without expending too much energy, we should. You never know when a few healthy bodies might prove a valuable resource."
To Ariel: "Please detail your travels through the complex, so far. Any information might be the key to our egress from this place."

Ariel nods at Candidiasis and smiles. "Yes, let us stay close," she says.
"Leader you say?" Ariel comments to Porphyry, nodding. "Were you deformed by the radiation?"
She turns to Wrenly. "Thank you sir. In my world magics are not defined in categories as you imply," Ariel states.
"We were transported to this place by an evil wizard in our home world," Thundarr answers Fingal. "We explore metal chambers and caverns and then this jungle. I know not where those places were compared to where you came from. We will escape this metal tomb, though I know not how. What has brought you here?"
Asherrion asks where to next. He and the adventurers came here for treasure and adventure, so they do not have the sense of being trapped and far from home the way Thundarr and Ariel do. Traditional treasure has been scant thus far, and the dangers many, but exotic items have been found that could fetch pretty platinum from wizards interested in such things. And the search of this vast metal castle, or dungeon, has only just begun.
"We know the shaft goes up and down," says Ariel. "We appeared in the metal rooms that surround this jungle, and then made our way into it. I am not sure where to go next."
Swilbosh the lizardman and Andover the half-elf ranger commandeer Guido the cleric's potion of healing and imbibe it. Some of their wounds magically heal.
Getafix the druid wanders south amid the green, enjoying the sight and smell and sounds and textures.
Greyv pounces on the rabbit. He tears into it with his mouth. The rabbit doesn't feel like a rabbit should. Something pounces back.
Three stalks strike from seemingly nowhere, two grabbing and crushing (7 HP) and drawing Greyv into the wicked fanged maw of the stump!

The Ravenous Gryev thrashes about, mindlessly tearing at the vines that hold him.
Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks: Chp. 3
"It would be ironic if the ravenous Gryev met his end by being eaten," observes Andover. "Or is 'fitting' the word I'm looking for?"
If Andover is in bow range of the stump creature and has a clear shot at the bunny without putting Gryev at risk, he fires.
Long bow (THAC0: 16): [1d20] = 1; Damage: [1d6] = 4
If he doesn't have a clear shot, Andover climbs down to join the others.

Groyn Shortbeard shakes his head at a Gryev...Maybe it's better this way...he's like a baby dwarf, putting everything in his mouth!!! He'll drop his battle axe and load his cross bow bolt, aiming it at the stump.
Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks: Chp. 3
Porphyry watches Gryev's struggles with detached fascination. "What a peculiar creature. Quickly, let us dispatch it while it is busy with the barbarian—but try not to butcher it. We must keep its anatomy intact for study."

Re: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks: Chp. 3
Fingal sees the others switch to ranged weapons so he does the same.
He takes a shot at the stump, hoping nobody gets in the way of his arrow.
We had an old saying back on the farm.........that there boy is dummer than a stump. He laughs a little too hard at his own dumb joke.
Attack w/ Short bow [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 Damage [1d6] = 1

Hearing Gryev's struggle, Swilbosh's reptile eyes blazed in answer.
At home in the wild, the giant lizardman was not ignorant of the dangers that reside within even a caged mockery of nature. Without hesitation or undue haste, he unsheathed his bizarre iron crossbow, a magick machine artifact given him by Wrenly the Brown. He remembered how he saw the others work it. If he could fire upon the camouflaged oddity without further endangering Gryev, he would coolly take aim upon the carnivorous plant and pull the trigger.

Candy stands back, putting her hand on Ariel's shoulder. "That bumpkin keeps getting us in trouble. No more. I'll help from a distance, if I help at all."

Wulfhart sighs at Gryev's shenanigans again, but duty calls. He pulls out the Fang of Cuthbert and charges, attempting to sever the tentacle holding the addled barbarian.
