Re: Expedition to the B.P. - Chp. 2: Rage Against the Machin
While waiting for the others to do their thing, Fingal spends some time going over the rooms. He searches around all the furniture, especially the desk, looking for anything that might be hidden or concealed.
Are the droolers still drooling?
Do we have a plan from here?
Should we try a lower level?

Groyn wakes from a deep sleep, feeling refreshed and ready to go. He cracks his knuckles and asks...Where to? I got me a hankering for some "devourer"!!! Let's see if we can get us one!
Re: Expedition to the B.P. - Chp. 2: Rage Against the Machin
Swilbosh growls, "We can't feasssst on the flessssh of a ghosssst. Nor sssstrip itssss corpsssse for richessss.
"Letssss keep moving. Perhapssss we can losssse it."

The gray elf weaves an ancient spell to unravel lexiconic mysteries. The words in the unreadable books decipher themselves in his mind's eye. The volumes are a mix of instruction, history and what may be more imaginative tales, though it is hard to tell. Among the titles:greyarea wrote:Before resting, Asherrion will cast Read Languages and try to understand what is in these books.
Security Procedures, Vol. I
Alien Cultures and First Contacts
A History of the Federation
Art of War, by Sun Tzu
Way of the Jedi, by Master Yoda
Chronicles of Arrakis, by Muad'Dib
The Foundation Trilogy, by Isaac Asimov
Childhood's End, Arthur C. Clarke
Glory Road, Robert Heinlein
Lensman, by EE Doc Smith
Reading any of the books will take some time. Scanning tables of content and skimming through pages reveal no spells, though the Yoda volume sounds mystical. A more detailed perusal of the tomes would be necessary to know for sure.
Fingal ransacks the rooms and finds naught but a ring on the skeleton, made of an alloy the thief doesn't recognize.

Fingal puts on the strange ring. Don't look like this feller will be needing this no more.
Lets get ourselves healed up here and then maybe try going down one of the chutes?
What do ya'll think about that?

Guido rises, yawns, eats and begins morning prayers.

"I think we need to get healed up before we think about going anywhere," says Andover. "While we do that, we can try to figure out some of these artifacts we've found. Then I think we should search for a grey card."

Candy wakens after a long sleep. Still badly injured, she moans with every move she makes, being quite obnoxious about the fact that she is hurt. "I can go no further until I am healed."

The other healers, Brother Puddington the cleric and Gatafix the druid, are snoring loudly and don't seem to be getting up. Finally someone rouses them. The blank look in their eyes shows they are incapable of praying for spells, let alone casting one.tkrexx wrote:Guido rises, yawns, eats and begins morning prayers.
All the strange treasures collected thus far are gathered as Andover suggests figuring out their purpose.

Wrenly frowns at the still conspicuously idiotic healers. "Well, they certainly aren't any help to speak of," he says. Turning to those messing with the items he continues: "If there is some one item amongst these odds and ends of which you'd especially like to know the function, I have memorized an incantation which could, perhaps, identify its function and purpose."

Brother Puddington discovers a ration in his backpack and begins gnawing on it messily, slobber running down his chin. It's gross. He also eats a candle.
Re: Expedition to the B.P. - Chp. 2: Rage Against the Machin
Does anyone want to put together a list of what we've found? I can't even remember what we have now.
I wonder if any of it will cure mindlessness.

Asherrion takes a quick look at the books and decides that they are of limited help. He puts them in his pack. Then he calls over the others while Guido the priest prays and hangs out with the befuddled.
In a low whisper he says, I believe that Guido is possessed by an alien presence. I worked my magics and am certain of it.
I know no what the best course of action is, but we should be wary as something has already destroyed the minds of our healers. If Guido's is also thus emptied then we may be without healing for some time.
We need to cure their befuddlement, but we first need to kill that thing before it makes morons of us all.

Swilbosh, savage lizardman:
They weren't going anywhere, it seemed.
While the wizards and scholars read their books and sort through the strange magic artifacts of this madhouse dungeon, Swilbosh will stand guard, alert and wary. If a cleric starts healing, he'll get in line.

Re: Expedition to the B.P. - Chp. 2: Rage Against the Machin
He pulls out another clear face mask like the one he has. Got one more of these things if anyone wants to wear it.
He also pulls out the 2 round fist sized objects. He thinks he remembers Candy using one of these already when she put the group to sleep with one. His memory is a bit groggy on that one though.
He takes the lay-sir pis-tol off of his arm. You all seen what kind of damage I can do with this thing. I don't think I really have the knack for using it. If someone else wants to have a go at it, be my guest. It might be a dangerous weapon but, I found that it is even better for cutting into metal instead.
He points to the set armor that he already gave to Andover. I got no use for that funky suit of armor either.
I also have this bubble headed suit that I don't think is even armor. It don't look like it will stop a blade, that's fer sure.
He pulls out one last item from his now emptied sack and stares at it for quite a while. I got no idea what this thing is.......but I like it. I wonder what this button does!
The not so smart thief begins to fiddle with the strange device a little bit, hoping it isn't just another of the many things in here that can kill him. (the little hand held thing that looked like a peashooter on steroids)
Trial and Error [1d10] = 2 [1d10] = 7 [1d10] = 10
Trial and Error [1d10] = 3 [1d10] = 8 [1d10] = 8

Guido seems interested in what all is in the magic item bundle, but figures he'd better begin the healing process. Noting the huge Lizard Man waiting, he moves forward. I won't be able to heal everyone completely today, The Priest speaks to Swilbosh hesitantly. It's evident he still fears the reptile.

Re: Expedition to the B.P. - Chp. 2: Rage Against the Machin
As Guido prays and the strange items are gathered together, Asherrion the Gray discretely makes a startling accusation: Guido is possessed by an alien intelligence.
Wrenly the Brown offers to magically identify one of the items that sit in a pile on the table. No one offers suggestions and Fingal decides to experiment on his own with an odd looking bulbous object. He fiddles with it; the object hums, flashes several lights, and a spark shoots from the tipped end pointing away from the thief. Fingal freezes up, and his off-balance body tilts slowly then falls to the floor. His body is stuck in a paralyzed position.

Guido readies to cast healing prayers upon the eager Swilbosh. The cleric gets distracted as he hears Fingal's device go off and the thief fall down.

Swilbosh, savage lizardman fighter:
When Fingal's dabbling with arcane artifacts brings himself harm, Swilbosh rolls his inhuman eyes and gives a rueful shake of his head. "Wizzzzardssss."
The jade giant hisses, "What proof have you? How can we trusssst that you are not possssessssed?"greyarea wrote:Asherrion
