Calto the druid:

Calto kneels beside the fallen barbarian and pleads with Mother Earth to help aid the man. Strange archaic words are uttered, and a warm amber glow is emitted from the druid's fingertips as he heals his gravely wounded comrade.

Battle of the Beetles - Round Two
Image

The six glowing fire beetles attack in mindless frenzy. Tabai is savagely pinced (critical, 8 HP) in the leg and the barbarian falls back and down to the floor, unmoving, life flowing out from him (at -4 HP.) Azoth feels a sharp pain (4 HP) in his knee from a beetle that gorges through a joint in his armor. The other adventurers fend off the horrible insects.

"Tabai!" cries Calto, seeing the barbarian fall. The druid leaps to his aid, disregarding the snapping beetle that nearly hit him. Calto touches Tabai and channels his natural magicks to heal the fallen warrior (CSW, 10 HP.) Tabai miraculously recovers consciousness as some of his wounds heal (at 6 HP.)

Azoth the cleric grimly swings his Rod of Nodens upon the beetle that bit him, crushing its face. Siavel the elven sorcerer wields his new-found dagger with a look of glee upon his face, driving it deep into a beetle.

Blade Rain draws his magic sword but the beetle darts under his legs. Kitchi the ranger swings his tomahawk but his beetle too scrambles away.

Three of the bugs remain, chittering and attacking Blade Rain, Calto and Kitchi.

Actions for Round 3!

Calto the druid:

With the help of his shield, Calto continues to brace himself against the onslaught of the voracious beetles.

He removes yet another patch from his enchanted cloak and flings it with deadly accuracy in hopes to penetrate the colossal insect's chitinous shell.

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:

The dark cleric will help heal the party after the battle ends. But for now, he clenches his broken yellow teeth in fierce determination as he savagely strikes at Kitchi's attacker with the blood-soaked Rod of Nodens.

Rod of Nodens: To hit: [1d20+2] = 19+2 = 21 Damage: [1d8+2] = 6+2 = 8

Siavel

Uncharacteristically, the blood crazed ancient elf ignores the suggestions from his comrades and continues attacking with his dagger, hoping to take down another of the closest pesky giant insects.

New Dagger Attack [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11 Damage [1d4+2] = 2+2 = 4

Alex 'Blade Rain' Vam; human Fighter

Blade Rain, wincing in pain and angry at the whole situation, does his best to line up a good strike against the insect attempting to eat him and swings mightily with his enchanted broadsword….

OOC: Yay, for once I have access to the Die-Roller (not at work): [1d20+1] = 14+1 = 15

If that hits; damage is: [2d4+2] = 6+2 = 8

Kitchi presses his attack dodging the pincers of the beetles. He swings center mass at the closest beetle.

Battle of the Beetles - Round Three

The three remaining beetles attack! Kitchi is bitten (4 HP), Calto gored (8 HP), and Blade Rain parries with his sword. Kitchi the ranger is grievously wounded (at 4 HP), but he perseveres and hacks a the beetle with his tomahawk.

The adventurers redouble their efforts. Calto's moonbeam kills the wounded fire beetle, while Azoth's Rod of Nodens crushes another. Siavel lunges with his dagger but the beetle skittles away, only to fall to Blade Rain's darting sword.

A half-dozen squirming, ensnarled beetles remain in Siavel's magical Web. They are easily dispatched.

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:

Shaking the iridescent, glowing blood and gore from his unholy relic, the dark priest expends the last of his power to transfer a living soul forward through their personal temporal stream. "Time heals all wounds," he says sardonically to the uncomprehending barbarian. Then:

"'Ai! 'Ai! Stell'Bsna Nafl' N'gha Gotha'aoog!"

Calto cleans and binds his wound then makes his way to examine the shiny object beneath the largest pile of debris in the room.

Siavel flails at the trapped insects, stabbing each one of them with his new blood sucking dagger.

Every room is a trap or a battle. I thought those creatures to be docile and they nearly killed some of us.

We might need to leave this area again soon if we want to live. Or perhaps we leave this whole damn shrine behind us?

Tabai "That last part sounds best. Though the savages may still be in mass numbers outside. Worst they will do is kill and eat us."

Azoth Al-Aziz, ocultic priest:

"Wise Calto, please heal brave Kitchi," the cultist asked.

Then, "The "good" savages await our return. They hope the holy artifacts of this shrine can help them turn the tide against the cannibals. What if we emerged from this hell to deliver unto them the artifacts we have collected so far?" Azoth said as if the idea had just come to him. His dark, suspicious eyes happened to fall upon Siavel as he uttered that spontaneous suggestion. "We could use the fresh air."

Calto the druid:

"Aye, of course I shall heal him, and I am all for finding our way out this wretched tomb."

Calto approaches Kitchi and Tabia and utters a soft prayer asking Mother Nature to tend to the barbarian's and ranger's wounds. He then returns to see if he can uncover what is glinting in the pile of refuse.

Tabai "Yes the cannibals is who I was referring to." the barbarian jungle-man slumps to the floor quite tired and badly wounded still.

Unable to see whether any of these items are imbued with sorcerous power, the blood-eyed cleric gazes around the room with his enchanted vision.

Calto stoops to pick through the uncovered items. He is particularly drawn to the trapezohedron crystal and the inscribed stone tablet. He examines both thoroughly.
