Grindhelm the Dwarf
Grindhelm takes the crystal sphere and puts it in his back for inspection later, and inspects the jewels near the skeletons. "Are we going to take these? If so, I'll hold onto the gems, and divide the rest among all of us. Unless..." he peeks over at Leomar and Calto. "Unless you want to keep these for ourselves?"

Siavel inspects the planks to see if they would still be of use. He begins placing them from bar to bar, trying to form a bridge.
He commands his Porter to fly back up to help him.

Re: Chp. 3: La Muerta Espara
Leomar and Calto finish looting the long-dead bodies. They hand the gems over to Grindhelm for safe keeping and later distribution. As the thief and druid step away from the rubble it stirs. To their right an eye opens...
Meanwhile, in the southwest corridor, Siavel and Azoth investigate the long pit running 40' along the hallway. Siavel's layal porter Panguine rises unseen from the bottom where spidery white plants attack with thorns.
Siavel checks the planks and finds them rotted beyond practical use. The bars are five feet apart at the top of the pit. Thay could probably serve as jumping points to hop bar-by-bar across the pit. Azoth's torchlight does not extend beyond the long pit, so it can't be seen if the hallway continues or ends in a door.

Taken aback by being attacked by the camouflaged creature, Calto stabs his enchanted treant-wood scimitar at the thing's eye.

Kitchi seeing Calto stabbing the ground he is standing on as he is walking to the pit. What have we awakened now? He pulls his tomahawk and reADIES HIMSELF.

Tabai not sure what to do readies to to attack pretty much anything that is not these good people he came into the temple with.

Re: Chp. 3: La Muerta Espara
Serpent - Surprise Round
It explodes out from the rubble, its two fanged jaws snapping shut on Grindhelm and Leomar. They pierce and bloody flesh; poison courses in (2 and 4 HP damage respectively, please Save vs. Poison.) Leomar, already heavily wounded from past injuries, staggers back and into blackness (at -2 HP.)

The giant snake is more than 20' long, scales gray and black. It has heads on both ends of its body! Calto the druid, schooled in identification of natural life, recognizes this serpent as the rare giant amphisbaena, a poisonous snake made especially deadly for its two heads.
Actions for Round 1!
Meanwhile, in the southwest corridor, Siavel the enchanter stands with Azoth. The priest of Noden unrolls his Rug of Meditative Transcedence. "Hand me rope." He sits with legs crossed, concentrates, and then the flying carpet lifts him up and across the pit. At the other end he ties the rope to the last metal bar. "Now the others can cross more safely."
They hear cries of surprise and pain from the chamber behind them.

Tabai if within range to attack the giant serpent will do so so long as he can do so with out harming any of the others.

Siavel looks at Azoth with a surprised expression.
Wow! Good thinking, my friend. That rug of yours sure does come in handy sometimes.
When he hears the commotion from the other room he speaks again.
Looks like the others have found something else to kill. Should we continue on, or go back to help them? He says with a smirk. He rushes back to the doorway to see what manner of trouble the group has found themselves in this time. He begins preparing an offensive spell to unleash on this new monster.
Acid Arrow (6th lvl Fighter) [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10 Damage [1d4+1] = 1+1 = 2 Acid Damage [2d4] = 4 Second round [2d4] = 6

Bruno hearing what is occurring, will enter the chamber and move around and quietly in the shadows hoping to come upon the creatures .... Back....?... To backstab it. (If that's possible?)
[1d20+6] = 7+6 = 13 : [3d6+2] = 13+2 = 15

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:
Upon reaching the great chamber atop his rug, said to be fashioned of gryphon hairs and enchanted by efreeti, the dark cleric dismounted and exclaimed, "By the eternal apathy of Nodens! A giant serpent!
"There is no profit in this fight! All of you - run! Both double doors are untrapped! Get Leomar out of here while I distract it!"
Azoth produced the scroll they had found earlier and read it aloud as he cast sticks upon the ground near the giant, two-headed serpent! "Auh ma yuh ye in moyollo ca huel nictlazocamattiz, auh ca niquixtlahuaz ... noconneltilitiuh in miiyotzin in motlatoltzin ca niman amo nicnocacahualtia, manoce nictecococamatti in ohtli!"
Casts Sticks to Snakes, and has them attack the giant, two-headed serpent.
Then he flees with the others, carrying his rug if its "use" is expended. If it isn't expended, then he'll fly out.

Calto the Druid:
After stabbing his scimitar at the two-headed serpent, Calto cries out to the company, "The priest is right, we stand nothing to gain by confronting this abomination except our deaths. This amphisbaena will be our undoing, for its bite is toxic. We must flee!" He then tries to gather the crumpled form of Leomar and follows the others to safety.

Re: Chp. 3: La Muerta Espara
Serpent - Round 2

Calto the druid slashes at the giant snake with his magic ent-wood scimitar, but the serpent is too fast. Echoing Azoth's words to withdraw, Calto yells the same, grabs the prone Leomar, and runs to the south door where Azoth stands.
Grindhelm gives a dwarven war cry and swings Screaming Death at the snake. The battle axe whistles and gashes one of the heads of the serpent. Blood spurts; the snake hisses.
Kitchi the ranger fires an arrow which flies too low. Tabai the jungle savage thrusts with his spear, but the tough scales turn it aside. Bruno the thief-acrobat slinks up from behind and stabs the snake, but it slides out of the way at the last moment. The beast still seems strong. Blade Rain moves to attack but thinks better of it, running to join the others at the south door. "Run!" he says.

The giant serprent bites at Grindhelm and Tabai, long fangs gashing and injecting poison (1 HP damage each; please Save vs. Poison.)
Azoth performs a dark rite, reading aloud words of reptilian script from a snake-skin scroll. Taking several arm-length sticks, the cleric of Noden casts Sticks-to-Snakes. The sticks transform into serpents and slither off to attack their giant cousin. It's hard to make out, amid the chaos and rubble, if the comparatively tiny snakes succeed in biting the giant. The two-headed beast doesn't seem to be slowing down.
Siavel, standing next to Azoth at the south doorway, taps into his own arcane energies. The elf chants and waves his hands, materializing a glowing bow from which he shoots a smoldering dripping arrow of magick acid. The bolt flies high and lands north of the serpent, sizzling the stone floor.
Calto carries Leomar beyond the south door. He feels the thief's pulse and is saddened to feel none.

Re: Chp. 3: La Muerta Espara
Well, that's a bummer. Just when I was going to have Leomar's slow slide into insanity continue by carrying around and talking to one of the skeleton heads they just found....Leomar failed and is dead.

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:
Azoth flees through the southern door. Once the party is through, he'll help close the door behind them to keep the two-headed serpent from following.
"What have these savages summoned upon themselves?" he exclaimed.
Then, "Alas, poor Leomar. He should have heeded his physician's advice."

Is the serpent gigantic enough to have created the tunnels we saw?
I don't have Slow Poison. Does anyone else?
