LCDR Dale Collins; Helmsman

Dale hears the boisterous voice calling from the other room for 'Tabban' to come and try some drink that's better than Saurian Brandy and he quickly moves to cover the entrance and ready himself to repeat what he did to 'Stirling/Tabban'. He whispers to Wyse; "Captain; I think another person is about to come into the room and he called him-"; motioning with his head towards Stirling; "-Tabban".

With that, Collins keeps his phaser, set on stun, at the ready and prepares to yank the stranger into the room and into his line of fire when he gets close to the curtain....

The Coxan guards dumbly nod and turn to flee. There is no telling what they will report, or to whom.

The Doctor quickly moves into action to relieve Abbot's wound, by ripping apart the ensign's sleeve and applying it to his oozing head. Carefully applying pressure, he barks out an order for some medical supplies.
To stabilize the wound, make a 3D6 roll vs 12 (MN 7 + Biology skill rank 4 + 1 for being in range of the Rod of Life).
Nadix and Costello keep their phasers pointed at Fantor, who seems to be relaxing his struggle. Chief Engineer Gareb acknowledges the Doctor shouting for medical equipment, and relaxes his hold on Fantor to remove his medical supplies. Quick as lightning Fantor dips beneath his arm and makes a mad dash for the door!
Initiative rolls please! 1D6 + DX modifier + 2 (-1 phaser I initiative penalty, +3 for being on overwatch). Shooting is a simple 1D6+DX modifier roll.

The loud figure Dale mentioned approaches, alternating between drunkenly singing rude space shanties and shouting for someone named "Tabban." Dale easily yanks him into the room as before: a rosy-faced man, glittering yellow sash tied around his waist, stumbles in, spilling large portions of a dark drink all over himself. He desperately hugs a huge platter of sweetly roasted food in his arms, trying to keep them from spilling to the floor. He makes a mock angry face at Dale, making a disapproving sound with his lips. "Hey now, hands off!" He snaps to attention, his eyes wide. "Mortal! Is that how you treat a… a god? I am Strix! God of… of Feasting!" He almost loses his plate as he swings his arms into the air dramatically, causing him to devolve into a fit of giggles. "Well, no bother. Tell you what, bring me some more of that delightful brown drink, and I'll forget all about it. I seem to have… misplaced most of mine…"

He takes no notice of anyone else as he enters. Indeed, as absorbed as he is by his own meal, it seems surprising he even noticed Dale.

Ensign Costello fires his phaser at Fantor!

Initiative [1d6] = 2, Shooting [1d6] = 5 Plus modifiers, I don't know his stats.

Needles deftly stops the blood flow, stabilizing Abbot's head wound. It looks as though ensign will live another day, so long as he stays within the Rod's area of effect and gets some quality medical attention within the next day.

Meanwhile, Fantor moves more quickly than anyone expected, and he smartly weaves his way around Abbot and then past the doctor, so that no one can get a clear line on shot him until he is already close to the door. Nadix is the first to fire: his phaser emits a small beam that catches the fugitive doctor in the arm, but he manages to keep going after a short stumble.

Costello gets his own shot in just after Nadix, but the ever enthusiastic and wrestling-prone Andorian engineer rushes past him just as he begins to fire, intent on tackling his prey the old fashioned way. The stun beam fortunately goes just wide of both targets, hitting the wall over Fantor's shoulder. Gareb leaps over Dr Ryerson's crouched body and tackles Fantor to the ground, who seems to be putting up much more of a fight now that he feels escape might realistically be within his grasp.
Actions and D6+DX Initiative for the next round, please.
Combat report:
NPC initiative rolls:
Fantor's Initiative [1d6+4] = 6+4 = 10
Gareb's Initiative [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2

Initiative order:
1. Fantor
2. Nadix
3. Costello & Gareb (simultaneous)

Round Actions:
1. Fantor runs away for 10m!

2. Nadix fires at close range… hit
- stun damage [2d6] = 8 - resistance [1d6] = 5 Fantor stumbles, but is still up

3. Costello fires at close range… miss
- roll to see if Gareb is struck: to-hit (on a 1): [1d6] = 6 No friendly fire this time

4. Gareb tries to tackle Fantor…
- Gareb [1d6+5] = 6+5 = 11 vs Fantor [1d6+5] = 2+5 = 7 Gareb tackles Fantor

LCDR Dale Collins; Helmsman

It takes all of Dale's willpower NOT to look in the direction the sound of phaser beams is coming from, but to keep his own phaser trained on 'Strix', Stirling/Tabban and Leigh Moore. "Captain, I'll keep these folks covered if you want to investigate whatever is going on over there"; he says in a determined tone as he keeps his back to the wall and all 3 of the non Starfleet people where he can see them and keeps his hand holding the phaser (set on Stun) steady and pointing in their direction....

Commander Nadix Ar Eth, Science Officer:

The Edosian commanding officer calmly says, "Ensign, please help Mr. Endilov physically restrain Mr. Fantor.
"Doctor, please close and lock the door,"
intending to block Fantor's escape path should he break free of the Andoran's powerful grip again.

Remaining at range and on overwatch, Nadix positions himself to get a clear shot should Fantor break for the door. The moment he can get a clear shot, the Edosian will unhesitatingly fire upon him again. "Mr. Fantor, stop. The Coxans know the truth by now, and you're outnumbered 4 to 1*. I can assure you, the Federation of Planets will provide you with a fair hearing."

Initiative: [1d6+6] = 2+6 = 8, Phaser: [1d6+4] = 1+4 = 5

* For all the good that's doing! :)
Do Phaser l's not stun when set on stun? Thanks.

Dr. Ryerson

Leaving his patient to rest Needles does what Commander Nadix Ar Eth orders. He shuts and locks the door to prevent Fantor from escaping through it.

They do stun, but Fantor just managed to roll high on his resistance.

The palm phaser I's deal 2D6 hits on stun setting (- the target's 1D6+Luck modifier roll) and have a finicky rule: if the damage roll is at least half of the target's remaining hits, then the target is successfully stunned instead, dealing no damage; otherwise, the attack is treated normally but at half damage.

In game terms, it means that it may take a couple of shots before a hardy individual succumbs to the stun effect. It doesn't exactly model the reality of the show, but there you go.

Image

As Dr Ryerson rushes to the door, Gareb and Fantor continue to wrestle with each other violently. The rogue doctor puts in a good show, but cannot seem to break free of the Andorian officer's lock. Nadix tries to calm the man down with reason, his phaser waiting for an opportunity to safely stun the culprit, but no such opportunity presents itself.

Costello jogs over to the melee and helps to pin Fantor down, giving him a swift knee and a well-placed fist in the gut in the process. The rogue empties his lungs and falls slack in their grip: perhaps in his enthusiasm the ensign delivered his punch with a bit too much vigor, but it did the job either way. Fantor has been subdued and is momentarily rendered unconscious.

Action report:
NPC orders: Fantor attempts to wrestle out of Gareb's hold.

Order of actions (initiative rolls link 1, link 2):
1. Fantor
2. Nadix
3. Gareb
4. Needles & Costello tied

1. Fantor wrestles with Gareb to no effect (rolls)

2. Nadix reasons with Fantor and waits on overwatch to fire.

3. Gareb continues his hold.

4. Needles guards the door.

5. Costello roughs up Fantor for 4 damage. (10 - 1, cut in half for non-lethal attack)

Fantor is knocked flat unconscious.

Commander Nadix Ar Eth, Science Officer:

"Good work, gentlemen," said Nadix evenly. "Let us please remain on alert in case Mr. Fantor is playing possum. The Coxans and the rest of the landing party should be here momentarily."

The Edosian will continue to calmly observe Fantor with phaser drawn.

Thanks for the rules explanation, Starbeard. :)

Wyse nods at the helmsman's suggestion. Making sure his phaser is set to stun and charged, he moves to the curtain and enters the other room to see what has transpired to his crew.

Ensign Costello looks to see if Fantor wears a belt, and if so ties him up with it.

The security officer sees the downed Ensign Abbot. "Is he dead doctor?" Costello asks nervously.
