You are most welcome here, Mush! And so are any games you may want to run. We have no limitations on what kind of games are run here, excepting that they must me an RPG.

You should join us.

Or maybe we can convince Mush to do something here... ;)

Yes, definitely something different from chainmail.

LL? B/E? OSRIC? DD (Delving Deeper)?

I so rarely play a human... Might be fun to give that a try. :)

I think human-only might add to the campaign. Sets a certain tone, like that most people aren't aware of most things unusual and macabre.

I would love classic Call of Cthulhu or at least that feel whether it's combat heavy or not it's loads of fun. Reminds me of the one time I played Call of Cthulhu I was an unnamed master martial artist in a military campaign back in the 50's. I think I creeped out the DM almost as much as the Mythos creeped us out lol.

Victorian era would be cool.

So would a medieval setting. In fact, that might be more fun. Easier to carry weapons and kill stuff when necessary w/out the bobby getting in the way.

Think: Name of the Rose.

I mentioned this earlier, but I would love to play a game in colonial times or pirate age... Even one with no magic (or more trickery magic than wizardry), just fighters, thieves and medics.
In fact, I may actually have to buy Assassinscreed3 for the colonial setting. Never bought anything other than sports for my xbox.

Take me out to the black, tell 'em I ain't coming back.

(When you hear my girls singing this theme (10, 8, 5, and 2) it's magic! They do Johnny McEldoo too, but not sure I can let them sing either of those songs at school. ;) )
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

There are some nice nerdy references to Star Wars in some of the ODD74 games, aren't there? :) I wonder if most people pick up on them. Sometimes it seems like my humor is lost there. Or maybe my timing is just off...

I would be into some Victorian age or medieval Cthulhu goodness.

Medieval would work well as it would tie right into the religious ferver of the era. Burn the witches!

And I love any sort of cross genre reference.

Dogma from these forums will be joining us soon (his character concept is great!) and I'm counting Cameron as a new player since Apothecaria hasn't formally been introduced to Shade and the gang yet... and there's always room for more lurkers to join in, if anyone is reading this!!!

Oops, you're right. Forgot about that. When you're fighting wave after wave of zombie hordes invading your camp (and doing quite well at it, thank you very much), you tend to develop bonds with others that words cannot begin to create on their own. :)

Of course, there is the inevitable conversation of, "Why on Carcosa did you run into OUR camp with 250 zombies on your tail???" that will happen, assuming we all most of us survive.

Sorry I didn't make the Minion Deep One eat the zombie bot fly gummie worms. They frightened me.

Meanwhile the Deep One turns his sights on L'juy the giant zombie botfly but realizes he fired his 1 loaded barrel back on Round 7 and now his gun is empty! (oh no!!! is he going to spend the round reloading, or join the melee?)

Fated's Gunners however are fully loaded. The 3 orange men (trained under Gunnery's command) are crack shots and let the undead insect have it with both barrels: 5 + 1 + 1 + 6 + 1 + 4. Three bullets hit for a combined 3d12= 23 damage!

L'juy the 6HD/21hp giant zombie botfly bursts open showering the party with what appear to be gummi worms. Will any of you eat the Carcosan Halloween swamp zombie pinata candy?
Anyone else think they might have picked some of them up and eaten them?

It was tempting, though. I have to admit, I had a fleeting thought of making my Deep One Minion do a kind of "automatic response" and stick his tongue out to grab a worm as it flew by his head, something akin to a reflexive action he could not control.

Mushgnome wrote: One thing I will probably never do is run a Chaosium Call of Cthulhu game here. Reason? I just don't like the system/mechanics. Would much rather run a D&D (or D&D-like) game drawing on Cthulhu for monsters, inspiration, and source material.

System doesn't matter to me as it's more the Cthulhu feel. I've never really had anyone try to mix Cthulhu with another system personally. I really like that Medieval Cthulhu campaign you mentioned that sounds awesome.

Hey Mush,

Are you still accepting new people for the campaign you mentioned on the ODD74 forums and is it run with a system I should already be familiar with? Unfortunately if it's not one of the newer versions of D&D or DCC i'm probably not familiar.

Thanks!

That was some awesomesauce right there, too.

(pun intended)

Crusssdaddy is one of those players who seems really quiet and reserved, but then he just throws out this hilarious off-the-wall stuff at random times.

And, AQuebman, after a year and a half (we started the campaign in April of 2011), I feel very confident in saying I think I have a grasp of the rules about 15% of the time. The rest of the time, I stop worrying about it after 10 seconds and let Mush do whatever it is he's going to do. So there really isn't any need to know the mechanics. Just make your character deal with whatever weird stuff Mush throws at him.

Hey Mush,

I signed up over on the Odd74 boards and I was starting to read your PBP Recruiting thread for info as far as character concepts that are acceptable. What do you want from me to get started and what parts do you recommend I read going into it? I'm more getting the feel for the campaign as I come up with my character concept.

Sounds interesting the more I can focus on RP instead of numbers the better. I deal with enough numbers DM'ing my DCC game.
