The Language at the Threshold
Re: The Language at the Threshold
Harold Matthers
Harold looks at the blueprint and raises a single eyebrow. Writes in his notebook. "Next to a graveyard. Why am I not surprised? On one hand, that makes it very easy for the cult to find new bodies. Just dig up a fresh grave, extract body, put coffin back, and cover. No one would notice the next day. Then again, that makes an excellent place to hide the bodies afterwards. If there is a connection, the bodies were left out for a reason."

Re: The Language at the Threshold
Garret Holmes answers. "We aggressively questioned patrons and a waitress about their busy times, and cross referenced with the time of frequent musical performances at the club. I don't have the names at my fingertips, but it could be looked up. I don't think it's necessary."thesniperknight1 wrote:Baines standing in the back, smoking his agitation away, "I do, can you please reveal these 'sources', it's not that I am doubting anyone, it's just that after Agent Smith's murder you can never be too careful"

Baines sighs and was about to make a snotty remark but he just smiled and kept his mouth shut.

The investigators examine the blue prints of Club Zothique.

"Please keep in mind the any building changes made since then may not be reflected in the map, but at least this gives is an idea," says Garrett Holmes.

Isaiah Bartlett, wise old man
The old man Bartlett contemplates the map, clutching his shotgun (if he was given one).
"Will there be a musical performance there at this time?" he asks Holmes.
If there is a chance, Isaiah pulls Baines aside for a second.
"Agent Baines, I'm glad I didn't have to send out that letter. How was your assignment? Are you allowed to talk about it now?"

Baines smiles, "Thank you, but keep that letter with you, just in case. Yeah, sure. I went to the Irish gang since one of their members was strangely everywhere the cult were, so I investigated, and you will be happy to know that we got our self a new source of information and if his intel is as reliable as he claims then today's raid should prove to be very fruitful. According to our new friend, Carcosa will be at Club Zothique today at 11:00 exactly, which is very peculiar, don't you think? How come the raid is at exactly the same time? Garrett seems like he is hiding the sources, such a coincidence is impossible, I can't trust the BOI anymore".

"I'm not familiar with BOI raid procedures, Agent Baines. But there are a good dozen men armed to the teeth - it won't be easy to lure us into a trap. But did you learn anything else about this Carcosa?"thesniperknight1 wrote:Baines smiles, "Thank you, but keep that letter with you, just in case. Yeah, sure. "He is connected to the cult somehow, isn't that all the information we need? If the intel is correct we will have a physical proof of the cult which might gain us an unimaginable source of information, we will learn how the whole cult operates. These are some exciting times my friend", Baines can't help but smile.

Re: The Language at the Threshold
"The final item..." Says Garrett Holmes to the assembled officers and investigators. "Here are sketches of known acquaintances and persons of interest related to Carcosa, the case, or management of the club. We want to round up these in particular. Any booze we find, dump. Any narcotics, confiscate."
The labeled pictures include Ambrose Carcosa himself; Josephine Singer, the hostess; Emil Butwana, a hulking mulatto and club strongman; Derek Moore, night manager; Darrin McCoy, gangster seen shooting Carcosa; and various waitresses.

Re: The Language at the Threshold
The raid crew takes three unmarked trucks capable of locking people in the back. The trucks pull up and stop in front of Club Zothique, obstructing traffic, as there are no spaces with the parked cars lining the sidewalk. Guns are cocked, tensions high.
"Go!" says Garrett Holmes. He leads six officers, Agent Baines leads the other six.
"Cover the back and side doors!" barks Holmes. Three men run off.
There is a small line at the door. When they see guns there are yells and they all bolt. Holmes and Baines barge in, followed by the raid crew. It's crowded inside. A jazz band plays in the music room. People near the door realize it's a bust and start scrambling.
Josephine the hostess stands across from the doorway at her station. She looks...surprised?
"What is this? We pay!" she snaps to Baines and Holmes.

No wonder the evil would pick this place for his headquarters! Loud music, smoke, obnoxious people thirsting for cheap liquor and cheap thrills! But he has much more dangerous matters to worry about... He joins the group led by Baines.

Feeling less nervous than he thought he would, Reginald brings up the rear of the group led by Baines. He keeps his shotgun at the ready.

Re: The Language at the Threshold
Baines recognizes the hostess from the sketches and pushes her forcefully to the ground and puts her hands behind her head then orders one of the men to put her in the trucks. He does the same with his voice getting louder everytime as he navigates through the club but not taking too much time dealing with them, he is focused on one thing, finding Carcosa. His eyes leap all over the place looking for the smallest hint of his acne filled face.

Harold has his handgun ready and knife on his hip. He sees Isaiah and Reg go with Baines. Not sure if Holmes believes they are going against something other than a group of bootleggers, he joins Holmes. That way, both teams will have someone looking at the bigger picture.

Re: The Language at the Threshold
BOI Agent Baines manhandles the small woman to the ground as another agent cuffs and takes her away. The crowd is getting in a frenzy. Baines looks left and right (rooms #1 and 4 on the map) for Carcosa but it is difficult to make out faces with the crowds milling about and people running for the exits.
The music stops.
The agents spread out, searching for the identified targets. Several waitresses are being rounded up. Reginald spots the big mulatto, Emil Butwana, near the bar (room #4), making his way to the door to the kitchen.

Baines says to Reginald, "I will take care of him, you keep an eye for Carcosa! He is the most important target, I am entrusting you with him", Baines runs after the large man to the kitchen.

Reginald addresses the agent nearest to him: "Stay with him!", indicating Baines.
Reg follows the other agents through the club, shotgun ready, looking for Carcosa.
