Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Maya remains where she is, planted at the corner of the wall, shield raised to give cover to anyone that walks past the wall and into firing range.
Victor stands near Lutha, "You know, I often wondered the same thing. Would a child's ashes be poisonous? Or is it meant to be more symbolic, like people don't like looking at burning children... Hmm.."
Maya, "Wha...? That is completely morbid!"

puzzled, to Victor: "Boisterous? Indeed they can be. But surely you mean - poisonous?"
"And, by the way, how does one learn to spout flaming demon's from one's fingers, where did you pick that trick up ?"

Mort once completed with his task of making the oil flask bomb lights the fuse and throws it down around the corner of the passage that Wexley was getting shot from. oil flask lob [1d20] = 11

Victor, "Ah yes, yes! I had indeed meant poisonous, thank you for that. I was sure I had spoken clearly but it seems my brain has deceived me!" Victor then gives Lutha a smirk, "You mean Caeromakus? He's harmless, unless told otherwise Hehehe. I beat him in a card game, turns out that giant fireborn demon from hell is a terrible bluffer! Hahahah"Nordbo wrote:Lutha

severely impressed, looks at his own fingers and starts snapping them, mumbling cryptic incantations, in the vain hope of repeating Victor's phantasmal feat.
Wolfram
carefully observed the trajectory of Mort's incendiary projectile, his expert handling of longitudinal (pitch) and/or directional (yaw) stability, and whispers "If you need it I have one more - but that's all. Hmm, could a throwing axe be dowsed in flaming oil ?"

Dungeon Master:
The Flask is hurled & appears to strike a solid object about 30 feet inside the passage, illuminating several figures in front of it!
Wexley's arrow shot then hits one of the figures!

Wexley steps out from behind Maya and Borums Shields and fires another arrow at the same target then ducks back again To hit: [1d20+1] = 15+1 = 16, damage with short bow: [1d6+2] = 6+2 = 8
He yells out in in hobgoblin "Surrender now or die burning alive like your brethren!" Intimidation [1d20] = 7
Borum snickers "Did your voice just break Wexley? Your arrows strike more fear than your words" and shuffles a little being uncomfortable on his haunches and moves back away from Maya's feet to watch the corridor to the north, concentrating on his infravision into the darkness

Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Mort crouched leans around the corner and fires a crossbow bolt then leans back around the corner. Crossbow, Light Hit[1d20 +3] = 14+3 = 17 Dmg[1d4] = 2
Kormak goes to the hall Wexley was shot at takes his bow knocks and arrow and steps out firing at whatever he sees then dives for cover again. Short Bow [1d20 +1] = 14+1 = 15 to hit [1d6 +2] = 3+2 = 5 dmg
Short Bow [1d20 +1] = 4+1 = 5 to hit [1d6 +2] = 2+2 = 4 dmg

Maya continues to provide cover for the ranged using her shield as a wall extension.

Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
How many of us can reasonably crowd around this corner at one time and take pot shots? We may want to station our most potent ranged attacks, until we sense a good time to charge the enemy en masse.
Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
all right then, save our 2 last shots for laterHow many of us can reasonably

Lutha and Wolfram are still holding back their latest shots, but eager to let them loose soon

Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Dungeon Master:
Ok, looking at the posts i note the results.
I believe they will try to fire crossbow bolts (2 each time it appears to you), each time you guys pop into view, & still appear to be standing their ground at the moment.
Some of the oil may have splattered onto them & perhaps some damage.
Ok, they fired 2 shots off at Ewat (He heard a grunt so he may have hit), when he fired after wexley was pulled back, so i'll do some rolls there.
When Wexley fires a shot after the flame tipped oil flask was thrown, he heard a grunt so it may have hit a target!
A couple shots should be flying at wexley here.
Wexley will likely hit again after steping out from behind maya's & borum's shields.
Again a couple shots at wexley.
The Intimidation roll looks to be a success, we'll see how that goes, if anywhere.
Then Mort likely hit but not Kormak.
Again a bolt comes in response to them.
Then Lutha likely hit with his sling but not Wolfram with his axe.
Again a bolt will come flying at those two.
ok, i will be making some rolls for the crossbow bolts aimed at the party.
You do note that now only 1 bolt comes flying during the last 2 attempts to hit the party.

Mort & Kormak continue on with the same tactics.
Crossbow, Light Hit[1d20 +3] = 3+3 = 6 Dmg[1d4] = 4
Short Bow [1d20 +1] = 8+1 = 9 to hit [1d6 +2] = 1+2 = 3 dmg
Short Bow [1d20 +1] = 17+1 = 18 to hit [1d6 +2] = 2+2 = 4 dmg

Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Ok an update on this battle here:
Ok, they fired 2 shots off at Ewat (He heard a grunt so he may have hit), when he fired after wexley was pulled back, so i'll do some rolls there.
2 crossbow bolts on Wexley:
To Hit: [1d20] = 3
To Hit: [1d20] = 20
Damage from bolt: [1d4] = 1 x2 =2 Hit Points off wexley!
When Wexley fires a shot after the flame tipped oil flask was thrown, he heard a grunt so it may have hit a target!
A couple shots should be flying at wexley here.
Wexley will likely hit again after stepping out from behind maya's & borum's shields.
Again a couple shots at wexley.
2 bolts on wexley:
To Hit: [1d20] = 10
To Hit: [1d20] = 3
The Intimidation roll looks to be a success, we'll see how that goes, if anywhere.
Then Mort likely hit but not Kormak.
Again a bolt comes in response to them.
To Hit: [1d20] = 4
Then Lutha likely hit with his sling but not Wolfram with his axe.
Again a bolt will come flying at those two.
To Hit: [1d20] = 1
Critical miss roll: [1d20] = 1
So the hobgoblin (as noted by Lutha) stumbles off balance here likely from the flaming oil splattering onto the floor as well.
Lutha also noted some bodies on the ground appearantly catching fire from the splattered oil.
That one last arrow would hit the one last hobgoblin & drop him!

Re: Chapter 11: Anxiously Contemplating the Hobgoblins!
Mort pokes around the corner to check for enemies if none remain slowly he will approach the dead hobgoblins. Searching their bodies and taking anything of value along with any remaining bolts they had.

"Ah...dead men run deep" and avoids the bodies, happily leaving Mort to do the poking
Wolfram
just wonders what is going on, he's never been this far underground before
