Tumbler tries to use his crossbow but hold back at the last moment as he is too afraid of hitting one of his comrades. He instead flings the infernal machine at a spider and curses himself for ever buying the thing.

I don't want to roll Agrippo's save for him if I can avoid it. I'll update tonight & NPC Agrippo if Stirling hasn't been able to post by then.

The spiders attack first. The one in the middle bites Fendt (2 HP; save vs. poison.) Fendt smashes the spider's head with his mace.

The one by the door corners Tibbius. Mandibles sink through the mage's robes and into his flesh (-2 HP; save vs. poison). Tibbius tries to fight back with his staff, but the spider's skin is too tough. Iluq attacks the spider from behind. His hammers smash mightily into the spider's legs. It shrieks in pain.

The third spider spins towards Robert and lunges. Robert takes a quick step to the side and brings his scimitar in a sweeping arc that cuts through the spider's hairy hide deep into its flesh!

Agrippo feels the spider's venom enter his system. His muscles seem to be tightening. Realizing that the spiders are not undead, he drops the Sunsword and grabs his trusty spear. Struggling against the effects of the spider's poison, he manages to thrust his spear into the easternmost spider from behind. The spider stumbles then falls to the ground, dead.

Tumbler, frustrated with the lack of opportunity to use his expensive crossbow, throws it at a spider. It thuds harmlessly off.

Two spiders remain. Actions!
The effects of the poison are not entirely clear to you yet, but anyone who fails his save will lose any dexterity bonuses and take a -2 cumulative penalty to attack/defense per round. In other words, after three rounds, attack and damage will both be at -6 if the character is still able to attack.

Tibbius and Fendt, please save vs. the poison.

I posted Roberts actions in an earlier post in time I thought to be used but I gladly accept your rolls instead. :o)

Robert moves to get the best advantage against either spider and says, "Hold on gang, If you're poisoned hang in there, but let me know." Robert swings his scimitar at the spider in a deadly dance hoping he wins.

Robert's hit that I rolled was on a free counterattack from the spider's critical miss.

Iluq goes after one of the spider still alive. The poison tightening his muscles as well, causing one arm to not swing as effectively.

Dual +1 Hammer attack: To Hit [1d20+1] = 8+1 = 9, [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21; damage [1d4+2] = 3+2 = 5 (+1v.L), [1d4+2] = 4+2 = 6 (+1v.L)

Free Attack: To Hit: [1d20+1] = 14+1 = 15 damage: [1d4+2] = 4+2 = 6

I'll wait a bit longer for Fendt's, Agrippo's, and Tumbler's moves, then NPC if necessary.

The battle continues. Our heroes gain the critical initiative.

Iluq smashes the spider the the doorway. His mighty hammers reduce the huge spider to a pulpy mess on the floor.

The others surround the lone surviving spider. Agrippo, his muscles continuing to tighten, manages to prick the spider's belly just before succumbing to the poison. He falls to the floor, motionless. Tibbius also starts to feel the effects of the poison. As the spider attacks, he barely manages to bring his staff across the spider's jaws, deflecting the spider's bite. Robert and Fendt can't get good angles of attack in the melee. Tumbler hides in the corner.

One spider remains. One adventurer is down, another is poisoned.

Actions? Status: Agrippo: 37/52 (poisoned), Tibbius: 5/10 (poisoned), Iluq: 16/34, Tumbler: 24/39, Robert: 16/27; Fendt: 10/15

Iluq, seeing Agrippo fall in a paralytic state, jumps into action on the remaining spider. Unfortunately the Dark Elf is unable to find purchase among the spider guts of the creature he just pulverized, sending his aim off...

Dual +1 Hammer attack: To Hit [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8, [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3; damage [1d4+2] = 2+2 = 4 (+1v.L), [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3 (+1v.L)

Robert looks for a flank or back attack against the spider and swings his scimitar at the spider.

Scimitar +1 to hit[1d20 +1] = 17+1 = 18 Damage[1d8+1] = 6+1 = 7

AS soon as he can he says, "I only have one neutralize poison spell. Iluq can you cast it as well? Will this poison kill them if we do not cast the spell?"

Robert remembers some of his teachings and his course on poisonous spiders and what they can do to see if he remembers anything about spiders like this.

During the fighting Iluq answers, "I do not, I can slow the poison though, hopefully buying us time to renew our spells, allowing me the chance to pray for such a spell, or find an alternative method in healing them!"

Tibbius decides it's time for the big boys to finish this fight. He slinks away from the combat and finds a soft spot to land when he finally succumbs to the affect of the spiders bite.

Sensing victory in hand—but perhaps at great cost—you decisively seize the initiative.

Fendt continues whacking at the spider. His mace scores a glancing blow to the spider's abdomen. Robert looks for a flank or back attack—not a hard thing to manage, since the spider seems to be crawling toward Iluq—and cuts off a hairy spider leg with a mighty slash. Iluq misses.

Tumbler continues hiding. Tibbius, his muscles becoming less useful every second, crawls away to join him.

The spider, bleeding heavily, backs Iluq into a corner, raises up, and strikes! The bite just barely makes it through Iluq's armor (Iluq: -3 HP, save vs. poison).

Actions? Status: Agrippo: 37/52 (poisoned), Tibbius: 5/10 (poisoned), Iluq: 13/34, Tumbler: 24/39, Robert: 16/27; Fendt: 10/15
