Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
For one I'm not old enough to have been alive for classic Dr. Who. I did try to watch the very first episode but the tv "effects" were just so ..... yeah.....

I agree with Saalaria
my weekend post times are very unreliable so when I come back on Monday things are crazy

Life is a roller coaster, if you don't stop to enjoy it then you may as well not even ride.
Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
I'm the opposite, I still have to catch up on all the new Who stuff, but I've watched a lot of classic Who over the years. Classic Who is just the best thing ever, but it's definitely not for everyone. I didn't get started until the new show started, though, since I'm American and we didn't get it over there when I was younger (I'm in the UK now, so all's good).

I'm only 31 till december I never even had cable or satellite TV until I was a teenager there are a lot of shows i never got to watch. But I started with the newer Who stuff that started with christopher eccleston, then into all the David Tennant stuff I'm not into like the 2nd season that Matt Smith was in.

Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
The very beginning? I would not advise it... Start with the rebooted series and maybe you can delve into the 60's. The first new ones are more different from modern ones, and the personality, goals, and the intentions of the doctor is not as fully fleshed out, as they were testing out various stories to build up what he really is.
Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor, was my first and favorite Doctor. I guess that makes me old.
Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
I was considering getting the recent series on blu-ray until i saw that it is interlaced ( 1080i ), instead of the better 1080P.
Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
Same here (not the old part..lol). Used to watch it on Public Broadcasting in the US when I was a kid.Cauchy wrote:Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor, was my first and favorite Doctor. I guess that makes me old.

When did they have it on PBS?! I must have missed that.Mondego wrote:Same here (not the old part..lol). Used to watch it on Public Broadcasting in the US when I was a kid.Cauchy wrote:Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor, was my first and favorite Doctor. I guess that makes me old.
From what I've seen of the new show, I think most people would enjoy it more than the old one. It has a much larger special effects and design budget, and the whole style is much more fast-paced and closer to what modern audiences expect in a sci-fi adventure show (although I'm weird, and actually got into classic Who instead, even though new Who was already out when I got into it). A good comparison you can make is with Star Trek: most people like whichever ST series they started on best, and unless they grew up with classic original series Star Trek, then they usually don't like that one, and prefer the newer series. I'm weird and and grew up with TNG but I'm totally into classic Trek way more, so in that case it makes sense that classic Who would appeal to me.
Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
Late 70s/early 80s. Although looking online it seems that not all of the PBS stations aired Dr Who. Guess I was lucky to live near one that did.

Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
All I am off on holiday to Spain on Sunday so posting will be limited if not non-existent for 2 weeks. Happy for Jenks to be NPCed. Try not to all get killed!
Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
Whomever post next can pick-up for Saalaria & Play Jenks until he gets back!
Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
Per my understanding we originally did not equip out characters. It seems free equipment will not be forthcoming (though healing potions and cloaks are most welcome) and our druid's life of crime does not look to be panning out. Thus should we roll for starting money and head over to the shop to purchase our provisions?
I can see if I can keep Jenks alive for awhile. He was off trying to get some information from the thieves guild (correct?)

Re: Out of Character Discussions (OOC):
Ok, Tuireann (5-20 GP 5d4), Cayley (30-180 GP 3d6) & Baldo (20-120 GP 2d6) can roll for their starting coin + you all got 50 Gold Pieces from the inheritance.
Procyon remember to take off 10 Gold pieces from your inventory if you have not already!
You can split down that starting gp to other coins using the chart in the loot log!
No one has gone to Aerthfael Badden of Badden’s Provisions Shop yet due to Hemlocks detour!
Jenks i believe went to hire Oddgar first for 4 Silver Pieces per day or almost 2 G.P.
