Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Re: Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Idonea & Ewat:
Ewat fires arrows at the silhouetted figures: Bow: [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19 Damage: [1d6x2] = 4x2 = 8
Idonea does the same: Bow: [1d20] = 5 Damage: [1d6] = 1
To less effect.

Here is a Rough Map showing where the Orc Pyre is. The Adventurers are still off the map to the east:
Now to piece together the first combat round here.

Re: Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Shall we assume the flankers have circled the clump of trees behind the fire-watchers, to approach them from NW, while the rest of the party fires arrows from SE, across the Goblinwater? Perhaps from the cover of those rocks? Or farther back? Arrows should have a longer range than spears, right? And they'll be slowed by crossing the water to charge us, which should give us more time to shoot at them.

Mr. Choe:
Choe sticks with Mr. Wex. They creep to the left and then launch a volley:
[1d20] = 6
[1d20] = 4
Choe is no Gus with his bow.

Dungeon Master:
Ok, i could do it that way.
Mr. Choe & Wexley try to sneak around the clump of trees to flank the Orcs.
Keep in mind that if they do that, they will go past the line of site of the Orc's Cave.

Re: Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Mort has range and went my other two are melee only so shall I charge them in after melee and spells are done as that is what they would do?

Wexley will attempt to use the SE series of rocks to attack from, knowing he will loose site of the Orc cave and have to rely on the actions of the party to give him warning.

Ok, now that i see Wexley will hang back & hide by the SE rocks, i take it that Mr. Choe will do the same.
So that now the party will let lose with missile weapons first, gauge the Orcs reactions & go from there.

Orc Pyre Battle - Round 1 : Segment 1:
Wexley:
On North side of Creek:
Hide in Shadows/Camo [1d100] = 82
I will not count these 2 shots as tactics was changed.
Bow shot [1d20+1] = 6+1 = 7, damage [1d6] = 5

Maya:

Victor:
This will be used when everyone is in close combat:
Short Sword: [1d20] = 16 Damage: S/M[1d6] = 2, L[1d8] = 6
Mort:
Crossbow, Light Hit[1d20 +3] = 12+3 = 15 Dmg[1d4] = 3

Morning star to hit: [1d20+1] = 5+1 = 6, damage vs S/M opp: [2d4+2] = 3+2 = 5 / damage vs L opp: [1d6+3] = 4+3 = 7[/url]
Lutha Cee:

Round 1 : Segment 1 [Clarified]:
With the Exception of Wexley & Mr. Choe everyone else is approximately 100 feet away from the Orcs.

Medium Range is 140 (Long Bow?)
1st Arrow shot is a Hit! Bow: [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19 Damage: [1d6x2] = 4x2 = 8

Mr. Choe:
In spite of making noise is not heard by Orcs.

Re: Chapter 8: A Camping We Will Go
Since the Orcs do not retreat and attempt to take cover, simply continue to press the attack with bows until the others engage them at close range, then take the action of sniping at any reinforcements or Orcs attempting to make a break. Let me know if you need rolls.

So, yeah, yer right. I forgot those bonuses were for point-blank stuff.Point blank range is from 6’ to 30’. The character is + 2 “to hit” and on damage rolls against targets within this range, and furthermore any successful hit deals out double damage (a total of 6-16 points for a non-magical arrow) to the victim, plus bonuses for strength or magic if applicable.
Weird that bow and arrow are most dangerous in melee. I would think you'd want to make them less desirable to use close up.

Orc Pyre Battle - Round 1 : Segment 2:
So Far we have:
Wexley:
Readying his bow & arrow for another shot this segment.
This will probably be at -2 To Hit since you will be firing into the dark:
2nd shot during (Segment 3) Bow shot [1d20+1] = 7+1 = 8, damage [1d6] = 3
Victor:
This will be used when everyone is in close combat:
Short Sword: [1d20] = 16 Damage: S/M[1d6] = 2, L[1d8] = 6

Mr. Choe:
Readying his bow & arrow for another shot this segment.
(2nd shot) during Segment 3: [1d20] = 4
Kormak:
Charges in at the Orc Mort shot at for segment 2.
Perhaps during segment 3 he reaches Orc: Two-Handed Sword[1d20 +1] = 19+1 = 20 Dmg[1d10 +2] = 1+2 = 3 Lrg Dmg[3d6 +2] = 10+2 = 12
Borum: stays back.
Mort:
Reloads and will shoot at one of the uninjured Orcs: Crossbow, Light Hit[1d20 +3] = 3+3 = 6 Dmg[1d4] = 1
Maya:
Seeing that the Orcs continue to hang back and not engage in melee Maya will loose another arrow.

Sister Opal, Fr. Tenebaum, Karick, Radac:
All hang back for the time being.
=============================
Actions for other segments:
Mr. Choe:
Choe aims more carefully and fires again:
This occurs segment 5: [1d20] = 8
This one happens segment 7: [1d20] = 15
Damage (for the segment 7 shot): [1d6] = 5
======================================================================
Note: Ok, you can see if you have a move for segment 2, then post it & i will add it here.
Also, all missile shots will be at -2 now since they moved into the darkness of the trees, however you still try to aim in the general direction they went.
The Adventurers can pursue the Orcs into the trees if you wish, remember they have spears (30 feet range).
So far it is just Kormak & Victor that will pursue once everyone is finished with missile weapons.

Mort like an archer in an army of crossbow men reloads while marching slowly towards where the orcs were waiting for an orc to aim and fire at if one is seen in the shadows of the night and does not look from the shadow of it to be Victor or Kormak he will fire at it.
