The Underground City, Beneath the Great Pyramid of Xuthalhotep
Lost City of Khemsa, Forgotten Kingdom of Verulia, Great Eastern Desert, the World of Hyboria
Day Ten. Morning?, 23rd day of the month of Yuluk, 1279th year of the Age of Aquilonia

The adventurers board the Dark Ship that ferries the damned to the Island of Death!

They frantically scatter, readying to cast off with haste! Kiri and Loche cut the stern line as Crulco severs the bow line in one stroke of his longsword! Amethu rushes the bow and prepares to light their way!

Garrin unfurls the mainsail, as Xorzen scrambles up into the rigging to help unleash that vast musty canvas. It fills with a briny subterranean wind that makes the mainmast creak and groan!

Mako takes the wheel, its wood worn smooth by countless hands steering countless lost souls to their doom. He turns it starboard and the ship lurches forward ten feet, seaward!*

Midship, Tjoruy calls upon Osorus the god of the invisible sun with devout orisons, and is mercifully healed (+3hp). Near him, merciless Zahra readies her sword where she thinks the beastmen will attempt to board. And not a moment too soon!

Exploding from Amethu's sorcerous silence, the bone white primordial savages howl like mad wolves as they storm the pier with bloodthirsty abandon! They reach the ship as it begins to leave dock and two of the powerfully muscled beasts spring like panthers onto the deck! Others lunge to the hull beneath Zahra and start climbing! On the aged wharf, more of the murderous brutes bellow and roar, readying to leap!

Suddenly, a door opens onto the maindeck and a pale member of the heinous priesthood of Zargoth emerges! (P1)

Actions?! (*The ship is moving. Everyone please make an Ability Check vs Dex on 1d20. Failure incurs a -1 to hit and to some other rolls. A '20' incurs worse.)

As the ship lurches, Tjoruy finds his feet...he finds the swaying similar to navigating the thick hyphae of his favorite mushroom cultivar.

Dex ability check (15) [1d20] = 9

"LO!" squeaks Tjoruy upon seeing the priest of Zargoth. "Furl the sails! Zargoth shall devour our souls on this very deck! I prithee, dark acolyte, be still so that we may gaze upon your dark beauty and contemplate the very end of our existence!"

The cleric casts Hold Person at the priest.

Loche

Seeing the priest appear on the main deck and with dagger in hand already, Loche decides to charge! Running across the upper level, he launches himself at the priest in an airborne attack..

Cruloc

The Northman identifies the looming threat of the vile priest and his frightful magic. He charges!

"I’ll carve you as a feast for your petty god!"

Charging attack w/longsword [1d20+3] = 12+3 = 15
Longsword damage [1d8+3] = 4+3 = 7

Trying to position himself to attack from the rigging proves difficult for Xorxen on the now moving ship. Dex check (15) [1d20] = 16

Despite his precarious position, he fires a normal javelin at any beast-men who aren't locked in hand to hand combat with one of his friends. Javalin Attack [1d20+1] = 19+1 = 20 Damage [1d6+2] = 5+2 = 7

Amethu continues to peer ahead. He chances a look back at the pier and will ready his staff to repel boarders should they come into range.

Kiri finds himself unprepared for the sudden lurch when the boat is unmoored:
Save vs Dexterity (12): [1d20] = 14

Staggering, he sees the priest being rushed and so turns his attention to the several beastmen attempting to swarm the deck, charging the nearest one with shield upraised and trident forward, but he stumbles again as he runs:
Attack with Trident +1, Claw of Chobek (THAC0:19): To Hit: [1d20+4] = 2+4 = 6 Damage vs. s/m: [1d6+8] = 4+8 = 12, vs. Lg: [3d4+7] = 9+7 = 16

The arcane priest of Zargoth chants forbidden sorceries forged before the breaking of Verulia!

Those unholy syllables summon etheric, invisible tentacles from eldritch realms beyond that which we know to seize and silence Tjoruy!

From the dock, fierce beastmen continue to swarm aboard! Two more pounce on deck with simian agility! Another bestial pair clamber onto the hull and two mistime the leap and plunge into the black water below!

Those primordial savages already onboard attack without mercy! Zahra bounds aside from a deadly spear thrust but feels an ax blade sink deep! (4hp damage) And a heavy club bludgeons Cruloc's ribs almost to the point of breaking as its wielder roars a heathen battle-cry! (5hp damage)

At the helm, Mako steers the Dark Ship out of dock with Amethu lighting the way through the flotsam and jetsam of the derelict harbor!

Unsure in the swaying rigging, Xorzen still casts a javelin with all the strength of his right arm and it impales a snarling beastman through the shoulder (B7)! The powerful brute howls with rage!

Nearby, Cruloc the barbarian growls at his feral foe (B6) and suddenly, its head is flown from its wide shoulders by Zahra's shimmering blade!

Loche lunges from the top deck and buries his dagger to its jeweled hilt into the wicked priest's back! The abhorrent cleric shrieks blood, calling on Zargoth to smite their heretical enemies.

Cruloc grips a rope and swings over the wild throng of beastmen, driving his straightsword deep into the masked priest's mouth, silencing that foul orifice forever!

Instantly, Tjoruy is free from his otherworldly bonds as the wet remains of the vile curate spill out onto the deck!

Kiri of the East hasn't found his sealegs. He charges a primal beastman and his trident is off the mark!

But Garrin hails from Argos, the greatest seapower of the Hyborian Age. The myrmidon shifts with the rise of the deck and slashes open a subhuman creature (B4), almost finishing him in one fell-handed blow!

B7-B10: Dex Ability Checks to jump: [1d20] = 3, [1d20] = 19, [1d20] = 17, [1d20] = 14 Two fail and land in the water. One lands on deck, the other on the hull.
B11, B12: Dex Ability Checks to jump: [1d20] = 15, [1d20] = 4 One on deck, one on hull.
B6 attacks Cruloc: [1d20] = 15, damage: [2d4+1] = 4+1 = 5 Hits for 5hp.

Zahra kills Cruloc's foe so Cruloc is no longer in a melee.
Garrin didn't need to charge.

Tjoruy is crestfallen at the impotence of his spell. "Oh Osurus! You find me unworthy of your divine intervention! I pray, guide my arm so we may stave off the eternal void!"

He grabs his bundle of dirty rags and with his bone-white fingers withdraws a gleaming mace. He swings at the nearest beast.

Mace of the Old Kingdom attack [1d20+2] = 6+2 = 8 damage [1d6+3] = 1+3 = 4

Does not include +1 bonus for Bless spell

Loche

Blood dripping from his dagger as he advances, the Pict roars at the beastmen, Git aff oor boat, ye monkey pieces o' jobby! We stole it fair 'n' george!

He will approach B11 or B12 (in that order of preference) if either is within 10'. If both/ neither are, he will move no more than 10', readying an attack if an enemy ends up in range.

Staff of Uthoth - Damage: = S/M/L: [1d6+2] = 4+2 = 6

Cruloc

The Cimmerian places a foot on the dead priest's impaled head and yanks on his sword. The weapon does not come free easily, so while maintaining pressure with his boot, he levers it back and forth to the sickening sound of teeth popping out of sockets.

The exertion affects his timing, and he swings wildly and ineffectively at a beastman.

Attack w/longsword [1d20+2] = 5+2 = 7
