Well, since Amon Amarth is one of my favorite bands, and this is one of my favorite songs by them, maybe facing the dragon and risking this should be the appropriate choice, instead of searching the halls.

First of all, my apologies to everyone for my absence from this game. I recently had a death in the family, which has limited my ability to post. Hopefully I can get back to my usual posting schedule in the days to come.

More importantly, Scott308--thanks for posting the Amon Amarth video! I love heavy metal music, but haven't heard AA before. \m/

You're welcome! Their music is all about Vikings and Norse mythology- battle and the doings of the Gods. And they don't take themselves too seriously. In concert, they have a song where the singer tells everyone to sing along on the chorus. He then says, It doesn't matter if you don't know the words. This is death metal- no one will know the difference!

Rumil should definitely go ahead of Glasik. There is no way he'll be able to surprise if he's walking next to a clanky dwarf!

Thanks everyone. Appreciate it.

Old Duergar, socratic and wolfpack, I know it's a holiday week but a majority of PCs have posted, including the scouts; enough to move the game forward. Given that opportunity, I'll take it. Onward. :)

Question: In 1E, for an ability check, you're supposed to roll under it...right?

Cool...that's what I thought.
It sometimes gets a bit confusing since I'm running a 1E, a 2E, and a 5E game and playing in the same :D

I don't know how you do it. I once thought about running Moldvay Basic but figured I'd never be able to keep two systems straight!

The nice thing about Moldvay Basic is that you could probably fit the entire rules (sans class descriptions and tables) onto 4 sides of paper and still have some space. Everything else is "make something up," which typically gets translated as "default to your familiar edition."

So as long as you use standardized -3 to +3 ability modifiers, open doors on a 2:6, check reaction at the start of an encounter, and make a morale roll after the monsters first take a hit, then you can just play AD&D for the rest and probably no one would notice. :)
