Yrkoon wrote: Sat Jan 02, 2021 6:20 am Two questions:

1) There being no squares, I cannot tell how far 10 feet is.
2) Can Cruloc get around Amethu to get to Xorxen?

If not, I suppose he'll help Loche with F6. Would attacking F6 in this surprise segment involve a charge?

Hi Yrkoon.
There are squares on the map: :)

Image

Fyi, Xorzen is invisible. Cruloc could get around Amethu and reach Xorzen's position with a "charge."
Creatures may charge once every 10 rounds. PCs elected not to charge last round (round 2 of "the plan"). But may do so now, in the coming round (round 3). :)

If you want to pinpoint your desired position, you can use the letter-number combo keyed to each square, in the top and left border of the map:

I think Loche the Pict has been carrying that Potion of Speed for four and a half years. Congratulations on popping the cork, Bluetongue!

Hey,

Lots of clarifications this round:

Pixie: Kiri is too far for a "charge" on this treacherous ground, so I'll have you do a full move this round, as per your back up order. (Your attack roll missed anyway).

Ogre Mage: After thinking long and hard, I'll call Xorzen's action an attack. Ensnaring them with rope is a hostile maneuver, akin to dropping a noose around someone's neck, but not pulling it. Sorry.

Urson: P1 is holding the sacrificial victim directly in front of her, as per the map. So your posted action would be like firing a missile into a melee, as per the DMG, with Zahra having a better than a 50% chance to hit the sacrificial victim. So I had you target the nearest hostile to P1: P3. If you want to risk it next round, go for it. But wanted to give you a heads up first.

Raven: Casters can only move 1" and cast in the same round. And Burning Hands has a range of attack of 3 feet, not 3" (30 feet). So, I had Amethu close within spell range this round. Next round, you may move 1" and cast at your proposed target, if you still want to.

Thanks everyone!

Top shelf descriptions again today, Inferno. Thumbs up.

Can Cruloc get to and cleave F8 in the next round? He's the enemy standing between Loche and the damsel.

That works, Inferno. Zahra's moving to combat this round, anyway.

Maybe it's just me but distance in 1E was always confusing :). The use of the " and the ' I always have to think twice about. And then subsequently ignore it ;)

Burn Hands has a range of 0. In its description flames shoot out 3 feet and arc horizontal 120°. When it comes to ranges (distances) 1" = 1 square (10 feet) inside or 10 yards outside. That's always been my interpolation.

It would make more sense if it was 30' in my mind :) And the pic below looks like more than 3' - I don't read the books, ya know, I just look at the pretty pictures.
