Amethu will hang back then if the party is going to melee - burning hands would hit all of you. Charm person is available for use on one of those priests tho.

We must stick together, moving as a team. We should not split up, going both left and right around the central pit.

When Loche is in position, the signal to move forward should be given.

The illusory eyes is a good idea and should buy us some time to get as close as possible to the casters before the jig is up. Being a barbarian, however, Cruloc will have none of it. He'll keep his hood up and his eyes down.

Hey everyone,

Q & A time!

Answers first:
  • Cloaks have hoods.
  • From this distance, Zahra doesn't know if she can recognize the sacrificial victim as a sect-sister.
  • There are no light sources in the open courtyard other than the luminous lichen of the cavern rooves that dimly illuminate the Black Lake and the Underground City. The party are aware the subterranean underdwellers have adapted over centuries uncounted to this spectral light.
  • The faithful of Zargoth chant and gibber in an unknown language, which may mask some soft noises.

Here's a numbered map. Questions follow directly.

Image

Baking the above info into your plan, is this an accurate depiction of your intended actions? Thanks!

Round 1:
Invisible Mako casts Phastasmal Force (on Amethu? on Garrin? or on all visible party members except Cruloc?) Area of Effect is 80 feet by 80 feet.
Once cast, Mako cannot move or the spell is lost. Spell range is 100 feet so he can nearly reach the Pit (around N-10 or O-9) without moving.
The illusion is a plague of eyes covering the exposed skin of the targets.
Fyi, this spell has a verbal component.
Fyi, with party facing NW as they advance, Mako can't see their faces. This will make it challenging for Mako to ensure the illusionary "eye masks" are in the proper place. Thoughts?

Round 2:
Mako: No movement. Concentrates on maintaining illusion.

Everyone else: With hoods up or faces exposed to show the plague of eyes (which, please?) they advance toward the Pit.
(Standard marching order, with invisible folks and Loche removed looks like this:
Garrin Zahra
Cruloc Amethu
Is this how you approach? Or single file? Or something else? Thanks)

Is the intended target square of this advance O-10 or another?

Is everyone together or is Loche "keeping to the right hand shadows?" (If the latter, is that square Y-9? or another? If the former, where is he in the "marching order" please? Thanks. And please see above, re: light sources. )

Where is Xorzen in the approach, please? Thanks.

Round 3:
Mako: No movement. Concentrates on maintaining illusion.

With the vanguard of the party at the target square:

Garrin parleys with the faceless horrors, the masked mad priests and high priestess. (In the Common Tongue? Or another?)

Amethu casts Charm Person on F8.

If Loche followed right hand shadows, now he moves into place for a backstab on F6 next round.
If Loche stayed with the main party, he attempts to circle around F6 for a backstab now.

Is that correct? Thanks everyone! Just want to make sure I get this right.

Invisible, Xorxen wants to try to get beyond the F's as this process starts out.

Ideally, he will attempt to sneak behind F4, eventually putting himself in place behind the R's once they are distracted by the others plans.

Yeah, Cruloc in the 2nd row would be best. In every sense of the expression, he doesn't want eyes on him, so he'll be hooded and demure. Just pretend the barbarian isn't there.

Meanwhile, Kiri looks at the stars in the starless sky.

In a flash of insight and enlightenment, he suddenly realizes that the position of the three pyramids of the Lost City are in the exact positional sequence as the stars that form the belt of the constellation of Osorus.

What the ancient Egyptians called the constellation of Osiris, we now call Orion. The three stars that form its belt, the "three wise men," point to the brightest "star in the East," Sirius, which represents Osiris and Isis, a virgin mother. All four stars align with sunrise on December 25th.

Merry Christmas everyone! :D

Hey everyone,
As the heroes prepare to attack the faithful chosen of Zargoth, this seems an opportune moment to pause the game for the holidays.

During that time, Amethu, Garrin, Loche and Zahra: please kindly answer the above questions. (Thanks for the replies, Cruloc, Mako and Xorzen!)

Thanks for another year of great fun, everyone. I really enjoy playing with you all.

Merry Christmas, happy holidays and happy new year to you and your families.

See you on the other side.

Zahra will allow the plague of eyes, and will move slowly toward (O 10). She's doing everything she can to blend in- as well as a 6' albino Amazon can blend into _anything._

Creatures moving more than 1" and attacking are "charging" as per the DMG. This is just an fyi. No need for you to do anything. Thanks.

Two questions:

1) There being no squares, I cannot tell how far 10 feet is.
2) Can Cruloc get around Amethu to get to Xorxen?

If not, I suppose he'll help Loche with F6. Would attacking F6 in this surprise segment involve a charge?
