Maybe we should start a new thread somewhere -> How I've interpreted rules wrong my whole life.
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
I think the weight of that thread would break the site!

Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
That was a fun little exchange.
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
Sorry Socratic. That's four days. Events have overtaken us.
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
Fyi, once you make a successful Save vs Spells, you don't need to Save again.
Other clarifications, from last round:
It takes an Ability Check vs Dex on 1d20 to leap between islands. I rolled your Dex exactly.
It didn't require a "charge" to reach one of Zargoth's infinite tentacles and sever it. So you may still charge in this combat if you want, fyi.
Leaping between islands takes an Ability Check vs Dex on 1d20 to avoid plummeting into the abysmal void. But Zargoth's tentacles may be attacked from where you are standing now.
Thanks.

LMK what kind of rolls to make (if this is even possible). The gaps only look to be about 10 feet wide... how hard can it be?

In the unlikely event Cruloc makes his Save vs. Spells in the upcoming rounds, I suspect he would not need to make a Dex check because of his barbarian leaping & springing ability. With a running start, he can jump 15 + 1d4 feet.
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
True!
In times like these, it never hurts to check out your character sheet abilities, inventory, and magic items. Good luck, everyone!
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
Nice one, Kiri! We can all move now...
Can Cruloc charge and make it to the central eye to attack this round?

Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
Yes. Thanks to his barbarian leaping ability, Cruloc can take the most direct path and reach Zargoth's great eye with one "charge."
For those without leaping ability:
Leaping across a 5 foot gap between islands takes an Ability Check vs Dex on 1d20 to avoid plummeting into the abyss. One successful roll will cover the entire journey to Zargoth, even if that journey takes two rounds.
Leaping across gaps smaller than 5 feet is allowed without an Attribute Check. (Each square on the map is 5 feet)
But Zargoth's tentacles may be attacked from where you are standing now, without jumping to another island.
Thanks.

Criminey, Xorxen! What a throw!
One more question, Inferno.
Cruloc charged in the previous battle against the evil cleric and his minions. I don't know if being transported through interdimensional space and time has affected the charge rule or not, but I reckon it was about 3 or 4 rounds ago that the Cimmerian last charged.
What say you?

Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
I appreciate your honesty. That was a different battle, on a different world. Charge away!
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
Dang it! Kiri beats the barbarian to making the heroic image of fireman-carrying a half-naked babe out of a crumbling cavern!
Fantastic closing sequence, Inferno. Striking and colourful!

I’ve just been waiting to pounce on this heroic moment. We can take turns if you want.
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
Now That's an exit line! Kudos!"Cruloc! My name is Cruloc! I tell it to you that you may howl it in the void!"
He starts for the crumbling exit, pauses, then turns back toward the ebon infinitude of the chasm, and raises an eyebrow.
"There will be many there to howl it back to you."
Expect Nothing, Appreciate Everything.
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
Second that!
Thanks, Yyrkoon. Appreciate it. But, as in all my games, I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants. Here it's H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard and Tom Moldvay. But thank you.

Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
I'll be honest - Cruloc has read a lot of Conan.
Re: Roamers and Travelers (ooc and questions lV)
This concludes 1982's 'The Lost City' by Tom Moldvay... and the game its 28 pages inspired. They sure don't write 'em like that anymore!
You've been an amazing group! I've enjoyed these four and a half years. Thank you for playing. I hope to play with you again soon. Thanks, everyone.

Thank you for the invitation. It was short lived as a player but I enjoyed reading through the story from desert crawl to the end.
Fantastic and well done Inferno and to all the players.
If Loche levels up and you need a savage he is ready for more.

Thanks for the game. I can't believe it's been four and a half years.
