Ulfang the barbarian nodded at the jovial dwarf and let out more rope for the little thief to descend deeper into the cavern.

As if to test his own observation — and seemingly oblivious to the ranger's well-intentioned advice — Palgravadorix lowers himself onto the curious fungal ladder. He doesn't descend beyond the range of the torchlight.
Failure is always an option.

Palgravadorix begins to climb down the make-shift fungal ladder and finds that it easily holds his weight. As he climbs down, he sees it proceeds straight to the floor of the cave, or at least would under his assumption. The torchlight allows him to see most of the way down but not quite all of it.

Kelsey attempts to cross over to the opposite side of the stream however a large rocky pool has formed at the base of the waterfall and it is much too difficult to cross here. She would have to move further up the hall towards the cavern ahead before attempting to cross.

"The mushroom ladder?" grunted Ulfang the barbarian. If the dwarf and the little thief agreed, Ulfang would haul her back up.

Travix watches around the strange ladder in case anything unexpected pops out. Once it is determined to be safe, he descends to the cave floor to join the others.

Kelsey yanks on the rope signaling to be pulled up. She tells the others of the large rocky pool. It seems that another way down has been found. Very good indeed! She sees some of others descending to the cave floor on some type of ladder. She will climb down as well.

Osford peers down the ladder to indecisively. Preferring to have both hands available while climbing, he bites down firmly on the end of the torch and angles his head to keep the flames safely away from both his face and the fungus.
"Ere I om!" he manages as he climbs down.

At Kelsey's signal Ulfang the barbarian easily hoisted up the rope and the little thief tied to it. After releasing her, his gauntleted hands stowed the rope and seized the fungi rungs to descend into the caverns.

As Osford climbs down the ladder, Palgravadorix is able to see further and sees that the makeshift ladder does indeed descend to the floor below.

At this point, Palgravadorix is 20 feet down the ladder with 10 feet remaining. Osford is 15 feet down the ladder. Kelsey is 10 feet down the ladder. Travix is 5 feet down and Ulfang is next to get on the ladder. Yulia and Ritbert are waiting next to the ladder to descend. Sound right to everyone?

Palgravadorix will descend to the cavern floor and wait for the rest of the party to join him.

Travix continues his descent, hoping the fungus holds out long enough to reach the bottom. He doesn't anticipate they will need to return here.

Luthandier will descend... second-to-last of all. But I'll wait until the ladder is empty to do it. For now I'll step back up the corridor two paces to watch that way.

You all successfully descend the fungal ladder, obviously it was made to hold quite some weight. The cavern continues another 20 feet before opening into a much larger cavern roughly 50 feet wide and 60 long at its widest points.

The pipe which you observed previously continues to run 25' off the ground and in a southernly direction. It continues towards an exit in the southern wall of the cavern where two plants hang suspended from the ceiling, one on each side of the stream which flows from the waterfall and out the southern tunnel.

Plants beneath the earth! Palgravadorix may have heard tales of such things but he certainly hasn't seen any up til now.

Keeping a wide berth (10' min. ) of the strange subterranean flora, Palgravadorix wracks his brain to see if he can identify them.

As Palgravadorix moves about the strange plant, he notices the thing looks like a cluster of slime-covered tendrils hanging at the end of a thick, rope-like strand. Just as he realizes the implications of this discovery, the plant lashes out, the strand extending from the ceiling allowing it to reach the startled druid and the plant's tendrils affix themselves to his chest with a strong adhesive.

Plant Attack on Palgravadorix: [1d20] = 17

I assume that you are on the west side of the stream as you didn't state that you were crossing the stream. Which side is irrelevant to the event, just the HP of the plant.
