Ulfang would want to be closer to the front. :D

If we're 2 abreast, maybe this?

Kelsey Steelaton/halfling thief ... Yulia Carter/human ranger
Ulfang the Barbarian/Human fighter ... Luthandier/elf fighter/magic user
Osford Green Ears/human cleric ... Travix the Lonely/human magic-user
Palgravadorix/human druid ... Ritbert the Bold/dwarf fighter

Kelsey Steelaton/halfling thief ... Luthandier/elf fighter/magic user (scout group)
Ulfang the Barbarian/Human fighter ... Ritbert the Bold/dwarf fighter
Osford Green Ears/human cleric ... Travix the Lonely/human magic-user
Palgravadorix/human druid ... Yulia Carter/human ranger

Kelsey needs backup and the elf is the only one stealthy enough for that job. Ritbert and Ufang have the best armour so they should be at the front of the main group. Yulia will be the rear guard.

I like this one best, and Inferno's a close second. No reason to go single file yet. That ranger actually has decent stealth and is beefier than Luthandier, but I can match your surprise chance where the ranger drops it by 1. I'll want to fall back if I (survive being) injured though.

Yulia's stealth is somewhat negated underground because she needs light. Outdoors, its a different story.

How much time has passed since the villagers followed the trail to this point?

I don't see that anyone else has the healing potion that the villagers gave to us, so I'm adding it to to Yulia sheet.

Works for me.
Ulfang's hands are full. He can't carry the lantern.

Hey gang,
Fyi, ybn1197 was kind enough to allow a late change. The Ranger class is more "barbarian-ish" than the Fighter class, and I have the stats for it, so I'm changing his class to better suit the character concept.

Less than a week, however ... "Some brave villagers have tracked a group of stolen oxen as far as the rocky banks of a small river in the hills." You are already standing at the point where the villagers turned back.

You guys are going to hate me for this, but I'm suggesting another marching order.

Reasons: Luthandier is encumbered and seems reluctant to be in front.

Kelsey Steelaton/halfling thief (scout) ... Yulia Carter/human ranger
Ulfang the Barbarian/Human fighter ... Ritbert the Bold/dwarf fighter
Osford Green Ears/human cleric ... Travix the Lonely/human magic-user
Palgravadorix/human druid ... Luthandier/elf fighter/magic user

Main problem is that Yulia needs light cannot advance very far with Kelsey. I have a wacky idea to use Yulia's twine to communicate with Kelsey using tugs.

For a mainly human party, we are a bit under equipped in the lighting department. ;)

If that order gets us into the cave faster, I am all for it.

Only IC; tomlowshang's remains my vote (tho I won't take being outvoted personally).

Since the possible change in marching order only affects Dave R's and my character, lets handle it IC. This should be faster than waiting for everyone to vote again.

Good choice! The people in front get more screen time. 8-)

Palgravadorix's chat with the animals is the only thing left before we enter the caverns of doom.

Sorry for the pause all. 2 months ago my family learned my father has prostate cancer. Not a big thing in and of itself (I work IT at Hopkins Hospital in the Cancer Treatment Center) as it is the slowest evolving cancer and at my dad's age, he will pass away from something else before the cancer has the chance to be worrisome. However he has developed problems with walking and balance, enough to cause his doctor to cancel treatment and order an MRI of his brain. The doctor thinks its nothing, but working in the Cancer Treatment field I know what it could mean. I've been in a bit of a funk the past week dealing with the implications of this while we wait for his insurance to clear this latest development. But gaming is therapeutic so I need to get myself back into a rhythm.
OGRE MAGE wrote:Travix nods at Ritbert, still scribbling notes and scetches on his parchment as they move further into the cave. Are you mapping the cavern? If so, I will post maps to the thread so you know where you are and where you have been. This will also mean travel takes a little longer. If not, I will only post hasty sketches during combat.

Sorry to hear of your troubles! Best of luck with the outcome!

Yes, Travix would like to try mapping as we go, as long as the extra time spent doesn't become a problem for anyone.
