Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
Would Arthfael know whether a giant insect is an "animal" he could make friends with?
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
Unfortunately, giant, monstrous aberrations aren't natural animals, but more importantly, Arthfael knows that "Animal Friendship" won't work on this thing because the spell requires a target "of at least animal intelligence (but not above semi-intelligent rating)."Zhym wrote:Would Arthfael know whether a giant insect is an "animal" he could make friends with?
Insects (and carrion crawlers) are non-intelligent.
Sorry.
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
No worries. Figured I'd ask.
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
BTW, was I expected to make a second post for Arthfael to join the retreat?
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
No, Arthfael attacked this round:Zhym wrote:BTW, was I expected to make a second post for Arthfael to join the retreat?

Spear (THAC0 20): [1d20+1] = 2+1 = 3 [1d6] = 1 (S/M) / [1d8] = 7 (L)

You know there's an incentive not to post quickly if by waiting you have a better chance of acting on another PC's suggestion, right?
I mean, if I'd have waited, I could have had Arthfael mount a fighting retreat.

Sure. No system is perfect, least of all PbP. I can't imagine how games that run daily handle this sort of thing.Zhym wrote:You know there's an incentive not to post quickly if by waiting you have a better chance of acting on another PC's suggestion, right?
Well, before you posted, two PCs in that room had already shouted they were retreating, and had posted orders to pull back. I suppose you could have had Arthfael mount a fighting retreat then if you wanted to, right?Zhym wrote:I mean, if I'd have waited, I could have had Arthfael mount a fighting retreat.

I thought the same thing when I rolled those!Zhym wrote:Arthfael
Arthfael rolls really well when he's in NPC mode. Maybe the DM should make all his rolls!

I literally laughed for a good 30 seconds when I read this. I had totally forgotten about turning undead.OGRE MAGE wrote:"Doth the priest or holy warrior have no power to turn away such monsters?"

This is getting ridiculous.Zhym wrote:Arthfael keeps waving his scimitar around. Perhaps something in this strange place has made him forget how to use it.

That line made me laugh.Zhym wrote:Perhaps something in this strange place has made him forget how to use it.

Doesn't Sorek fall within Garrin's PfE radius?ravenn4544 wrote:Amethu gravely injured and out of any direct fighting, uses one of his last remaining spells to bolster the front line of fighters. He whispers a prayer for his closest ally, Sorek, to be protected from evil.
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
Hi Socratic,
It looks like Soruk is just within the radius, but maybe Amethu doesn't know about Garrin's powers.

Amethu probably does. I bet it’s that raven guy who didn’t pay attention to the DM status update which says 10’ radius. I’ll target another melee comrade who may not fall in the radius. Otherwise I’ll defer my action as bless (my other remaining spell) won’t work for those already engaged.

Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
Question on cleric spells:
- My assumption is that they have to be planned ahead and memorized. With that being said, any allowance to substitute a memorized cleric spell slot with a healing spell?
Thanks!

Hi Raven,
In this game, spells are memorized in advance. No swapping, even for healing spells.
That said, most PCs have inhaled the Healing Mists of Osorus:

Hey, guys. I'll be traveling 'til Sunday, I'll check in when I can, but NPC me if it takes me too long to post.
