I like them. But then again, every time Kiri (or Soruk) hits it’s basically a crit, so as you can imagine, I’m good either way.

Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
I'm good with no crits.
How do we know you're not a donkey-brained man?
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
your game, your call. Some of the crit/ fumble tables get a bit idiotic, but I'm good either way.

Agree! If we used crits, I'd use something basic like this: viewtopic.php?p=202449#p202449Urson wrote:Some of the crit/ fumble tables get a bit idiotic...
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
I'm fine with those crit rules.

That's a good, sensible list.

i like those also - I like having something happen with a 1 or 20 - adds a little more flavor to the game.
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
Thanks everyone.
So far I see 2 players against them, 3 for them, and 2 happy either way. A pretty mixed response.
As a DM, I think it adds more flavor, and more danger to the PCs.

Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
As I spout off to anyone who will listen, I think it's important that critical hit rules, if you do use them, affect monsters and PCs equally. That doesn't just mean that the table applies to both, but that critical hits or fumbles don't have effects that last longer than the current combat. Most monsters are around only as long as the current combat, so critical hit effects like "loses an arm" or "weapon breaks" mean nothing to monsters after the current combat. To PCs, however, effects like that can be a pain for a long time. So I'd avoid those kinds of effects.
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
Huh. When I type posts on my phone, I get really repetitive. I wonder if I could have worked "current combat" in a few more times.

Is there a bonus to hit for charging? I don't think I've ever charged before...
Yes, +2 to hit. But either the charger's Dex modification to his AC is lost, or his AC increases by 1, whichever makes him easier to be hit.
Also, opponents may set weapons like spears against charges, increasing the weapon's damage potential.
However, S11 is only 10 feet away from Kiri. You don't need to charge to attack it.
(My house rules allow PCs to move 1" each round and still attack, turn undead or cast spells.
Also, 1" is melee range.)
Re: Shadow and Illusion (ooc and questions ll)
Hi everyone,
I'm taking a brief break from these boards. Everything is okay. I just have an opportunity to go camping and hiking in several national parks with my family for the next two months. I've never been able to take that much time off at once before. But unfortunately, I'll be away from a keyboard.
So, after everyone replies to my latest DM post, we'll pause the game (mid-combat!) until I get back in early August.
Sorry for the short notice. It all came together at the last minute.
Have a great two months, everyone. I'll be back soon!

Well, I'm back.
Thanks for your patience, everyone. Let's get right back to the action. The new DM post is up: viewtopic.php?p=372922#p372922
Arthfael and Soruk, since you didn't post, I NPCed you for this round. It's been two months, I really need to move it along!
