This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Re: Happy Birthday!
Thanks, all!
Turned out to be possibly the best birthday I've ever had. I took my son to his first baseball game. Cards vs. White Socks. Our seats were $5 each (purchased during the one day only $5 ticket Pitcher special day back in like February?), we were in the shade the entire day, we got to see two home runs, including Carlos Martinez, the pitcher, hit his first MLB home run.
My son sat in his seat most of the game, eating food and watching. He asked all sorts of questions I was happy to answer. He got excited and stood up and clapped for the home runs. He wasn't disruptive to anyone around us.
At the end of the game, he asked if we could go to a game together on his birthday, as well.
So... we go again in late July. And again we get to see a Chicago team, only this time it will be the Cubs, Dave. So we sat down last night for about 15 minutes and discussed what a "rivalry" is.
After the game we drove out to my parents' farm and had dinner with them.
It was a pretty awesome day.

That is awesome! I alternate between listening to music or sports talk radio while at work, and just so happened to be listening to sports talk yesterday (sitting next to a Cardinal fan) when they mentioned the Martinez home run. Seeing a career first, during your first game, is pretty cool.Alethan wrote:Turned out to be possibly the best birthday I've ever had. I took my son to his first baseball game. Cards vs. White Socks. Hopefully it will be another good game! I'm looking forward to the series this weekend.Alethan wrote:So... we go again in late July. And again we get to see a Chicago team, only this time it will be the Cubs, Dave.
Sounds like you might be raising a little baseball fan there, Ethan.

I know! Weird. But I won't say no to going to Cards games. I was all prepared to have him listen to the game on the local AM station while we sat in our seats and he didn't need it.dmw71 wrote:That is awesome! Re: Happy Birthday!
I lived in Webster Groves for a couple years as a kid, and my folks took me and some friends to a game on my birthday one year. We were sitting in the right field seats and Terry Pendleton hit a home run that I caught. After the game we went to the player's exit in the parking garage, and when Terry came out I ran up excitedly to him and told him how I caught his home run. He looked at me and said "yeah right, kid." But he still signed it.Alethan wrote:I know! Weird. But I won't say no to going to Cards games.
