Well if we are playing btb old school PHB you need two 15s at least to make a viable character.

Good point! ruling? Honestly, I have skipped over the detail so many times, I didn't even remember.

I'm not sure what you're asking for.

as Scott said, the BtB is:

Furthermore, it is usually essential to the
character's survival to be exceptional (with a rating of 15 or above) in no
fewer than two ability characteristics.

I see that this is going well already...... please correct me if I am misunderstanding you but.....

Are you asking me if you can go with the 72 instead, now that your rolls weren't what you hoped for?

Since we already discussed this and determined that you couldn't do that, what would you like me to say about it now?
Nuke66 wrote: maybe roll first, then take the 72 points if you get screwed by your roll? Please?
Sorry. If I do that for you, I would have to do it for everyone. Some players already have their characters turned in.
I'm sure I'll end up regretting this but.....
Tell you what......take the 66 that you rolled and divide it any way that you want. That will give you enough for your 2-15s and more.

That's the best I'm gonna do.

Please don't ask me for special favors after we have already discussed the rules. If you want to play a barbarian, you will have to do it in someone else's game. If you want to complain about the way the game is being run, you can do that in someone else's game as well.

No problem, I'll play them as I rolled them, don't wanna ruffle any feathers. I just thought we were having a dialogue, didn't mean for it to sound like I was asking for any special favors. Like I said, I have breezed by the BtB rule more times than I want to admit. My interpretation of the BtB rule would be a re-roll, but don't worry about it, I'll play what I rolled.

Nothing has been ruffled as of yet. :D

In fact, now that I reread my post, it sounds far more tyrannical than intended.

I totally agree with you that your initial rolls are somewhat unplayable. (especially for this game) However, I am also trying to avoid falling into the trap of allowing players to make multiple rolls until they get what they want.

Since I won't allow players to re-roll 20 times, all I can do instead is strongly encourage you to use your 66 points to make up a more playable character.

With Scouring of the Shire wrapping up, I'll be able to join this game. Thanks for running it, OM.
Exactly this! :D

I'll give this a second go over in a while.

I am slowly going through the sheets as they come in.

Minimum Con for a Half-orc is 13. Yours is at 9.

I feel kinda guilty about this, Nuke. Stats appear as rolled.

Oo yes I didn't see that. I could swap the Dex to 8 and have an 18 constitution I guess.

Looking good so far guys.

I am getting a lot of interest in this game from other players as well so.......

I think we will easily have more than one group running at a time.

I just got conformation on a new thread coming very soon.

I will populate that with more info as soon as its up.

Again, thanks for the interest and stay tuned.

The PC I rolled could literally be anything, so I'll wait til everyone else has a class in mind before I make a solid call.

Happy new year, all.

Fyi, I've moved off 'boy thief' onto 'boy archer,' probably an Elven F or F/MU.

Well, just took the thief class and elf race specifically for the bow bonus. But no problem. Multiple arrows are a good thing. The occasional spell will help too.

Sorry Nuke. I thought that in AD&D 1e, thieves can't use bows.
