Belial has been keeping himself at a distance, and aloft. He now lands, but doesn't approach the strangers. His wings are folded as best he can, and his hands are held low, but away from his sides.

Jack moves up to close it on where Bruze and Belial are.

Bruze remains airborne and at a distance from the strangers. He converses tersely with them, glancing back at his friends.

Frank watches with Jack, anxious about the situation as well, but hopeful it won't lead to another fight....

Blixx

Blixx walks casually toward where Belial is conversing with the strangers.
Smiling, he takes note the ones which have firearms. Blixx is hoping they are friendly and maybe even have a healer among their number.

Bruze Whane, mutant bat:

The son of Bhatt Mhann soared back to his friends without urgency. He landed and faced them, with his back to the east. "Don't react to anything I say," he began. "They can see us. Nod and smile at me." Bruze's eye scanned the western horizon for signs of life.

"Five unseemly strangers ahead in the road. Gunmen and cutthroats, all. Well armed with pistols and rifles. At least two mutants: one big and strong, the other red and fire-breathing.

"They claimed they want to pass us to head west for the Gam'A Zone. Then they said they want to barter for our Drot Swyne. I get the feeling they mean to kill us and take the Swyne. But I can't be sure. There was a lot of whispering.

"I've come back here to see if we want to trade or not."
The young mutant pointed at the beasts of burden and looked at the others for a plan of action.

The Long Route, Day 39, Morning

Bruze and Belial part company with the strangers and return back to the main party. Your two groups cautiously continue towards each other until one of the strangers (a man with goggles) raises his hands to halt his troop, 15 yards from your position.

Image

The woman and man to the left of center look pure human. The woman has a steely expression and slowly scans the area. The man looks directly at each of you with a smile bordering on contempt. The brute in the middle, Urgor according to Belial, has green-tinted skin. He pulls a two wheel cart using a tongue slung over one shoulder. The cart is laden with supplies. The next woman appears human except for her bone-white hair and magenta eyes. The dwarf on the right has red skin and has an agitated demeanor from his constant twitching and looking around. He seems lost in thought.

“I am Vol Bork, the leader of this band," says the man with goggles. “We wish to pass unmolested, but will defend ourselves if provoked. Your emissary, Belial, expressed interest in trade or barter. By your ragged appearance, I will assume that you have nothing of value to us; save one of those Drot Swyne. Are you interested in parting with one?”

The group keeps their weapons at the ready, but do not point them directly at you.

Jack hands vacant of any weapon palms facing outward "I think we can agree on two things we wish to also pass unmolested and will defend if provoked. Trade I think that we may be able to come to an agreement on the Drot swine, though I cannot speak for the entire group."

Bart, MH

Bart is silent, not even a click. He advances toward the strangers with the group, staying between them and Bacon and Chop.

"Hullo, I am Bartholomew Ichabod Zinc, before we get to the trading of goods, can you give us news of the road ahead. Is there a town near by with a healer. I'd pay you with a story of our adventures in the Gam'A Zone."

Luke watches the other group warily, hand near weapon. He studies them to see if any have recent injuries or are carrying bulging backpacks.

The Long Route, Day 39, Noon

Vol listens to Bart and grins widely. “Well, let’s hear if your yarn is worth a response,” he says. The leader gestures with his hands a ‘bring it forth’ motion.

You don’t notice any recent injuries. The dwarf has a backpack that appears full. None of the others wear backpacks, but you see a few empty backpacks slung over the sides of Urgor's cart.

Bruze waits with queasy unease; cautious and vigilant.

The One True Church had warned him repeatedly about outsiders, non-believers and the unsaved.

Bart, MH

Perform: whistling/storytelling:[1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12

Bart spins a yarn, keeping to the truth sparingly. He leaves out details of mutant abilities, like vampiric field. He does stay true to the geography the group discovered and how to get into the Zone.

Can Blixx turn on his vampiric field with out notice?
