11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
OK- the consensus is to move away from where the gate is and recuperate your spells (which will require a nights sleep). You could definitely get to Waterdeep tonight, but based on your estimates of how far away those ghostly shapes are it would likely take until 2-3 in the morning to walk the entire distance, then you wouldn't have a good sleep. If you move inward from the shore you should hit one of the main roads heading north out of Waterdeep. There are also some large forests further inland and mountain ranges, you could slip into the edge of a forest, find cover, and hunker down for the night. You shouldn't have to walk more than 2-3 hours to hit a forest where you can hide. Right now you can see quite distance in both directions (north and south) and travelers, bandits, etc.. use this road heavily.
(this is roughly what the coast looks like where you currently are: https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5293/5542 ... abf3_b.jpg)

Roseheart agrees "we fought hard for that chest - let's sleep close and make sure it stays ours."

Tella - Elf Mage
Tella will approach the chest, closely, and see if it has a locking mechanism. Yes, we fought hard for the loot, but let's not let it get us killed. She will try to open the chest.

Garl steps in the way. "We can wait one evening to check it." His voice carries an angry undertone.

Glimble "I've got a remaining heal spell I can cast if anyone needs it before we rest."

Will you head over to the edge of the forest to camp - or will you camp out on the plains by the cliffs overlooking the sea - there is little cover but you can presently see a long way in all directions. Fog from the sea will roll in at night.
Tella, Garl unlocked the cheat and checked it for physical traps, he has been holding off for a detect magic or dispel magic spell before he attempts to open the chest? Will you just try to open it?

Garl votes Forest.
Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Enoka will vote to camp in the forest. She will also take any additional healing the party has to offer.

Glimble "Near or in the outskirts of the forest sounds wiser to camp than out here in the open."

OCC: got it.
Thinking some rest is in order she will also retire to the forest. She has Elvin bread that she can share with her comrades.

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Discouraged at the loss of their quarry, Vek drags the closed chest wherever the group wants to camp for the night.
"What did you find out, Garl?" he grunts in the direction he last heard the invisible thief.

Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
"That you don't know what hurry, charge, or getting away is.". The anger radiated off Garl. "That was ultimately stupid. I told you, I warned you, and you did what you wanted to anyway. I did my part. I ran in, scouted to location, found him, found his harem, fauggt him, delayed the gate, delayed his escape, burned through all my potions, and for what? As I am screaming for you all to charge you take your sweet time and not only do I nearly die, he gets away, AND all those poor women are still his slaves. I know you heard me, how long between when I yelled and when you came in? Do you know how many spells he was able to prepare? And now he knows. He knows and it was all for nothing.". Will the that Garl runs out of steam.

I did not hear your requests Garl, the portal may have blocked them. Also, there was a living statue barring entry to the portal. I have healing if you are in need.

Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
You travel toward the forest, but a multitude of feeling surges through you. While you surely upset the fast mans operation, and scored a treasure chest with possible riches, there was the cost of Forest's life, and the understanding that you missed the opportunity to surprise the Fat man and end him.
By the time you reach the forest, the moon is hanging fat and low in the sky and you slip into the forest and find a good spot for a camp.
*ill assume healing magic all around, casters, please let me know what your updated lists are, you are still in somewhat dangerous territory until you get a bit closer to the city...*

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
"I don't know," Vek answers Enoka. "We got separated. I last saw him on the street where we ambushed the Fatman's illusion."
"I'll say I'm sorry if it'll keep your feelings from being hurt. But next time, we might communicate better. We didn't even know you were in the Keep after you panicked on the street.
"If that's all you wanted to talk about, we won't need two days. We can open the chest in the morning and head back to the city. I'll take first watch."
"I don't know," Vek answers Enoka. "We got separated. I last saw him on the street where we ambushed the Fatman's illusion."
Vek nods and growls, "And another wizard who was casting a spell. It could have been Fireball or a bolt of lightning for all we knew. We got through the portal as quickly as we could without losing any of our lives. And I'm glad of it," Vek says looking at the others. Then, back to Garl:spanningtree wrote:Tella - Elf Mage

Glimble "Forrest darn I hope he made it out though I have my doubts against those skulls. Vek do you think we could go back and look for him?"
essentially the same spell list I had before though swapping hold person for Spiritual Hammer
