11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
"Thanks, Enoka and Tella," Vek rasps in response to their healing efforts.
"Everyone, collect those "H" plaques from the dead guards. They'll let us pass some warded areas," he croaks.
When Tella theorizes the Fat Man is a vampire, Vek pauses. Not for the first time, he wishes he was a paladin.

Glimble heeds Vek's warning and collects an H and dons it "Warding from the zombies I hope. How fare you Vek I can use another charge of my staff if you are of need for further healing."

Roseheart follows the suggestion to take a necklace. "Now what?"
Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
"Thanks again, Enoka," Vek croaks with gratitude.
"Yes please, Glimble, if you can spare it. There's still two wizards that need killing."
Then Vek answers Roseheart, "Follow the blood trail."

Yes, the trail appears to be the most logical choice.

FYI, I was getting Garl caught up in time today (he is running in a separate thread), I can do the next round for you guys tomorrow.
Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
You guys looked for the H emblems, but found none instead you found iron rings about their necks. These all appeared to be slaves?
You follow the blood trail down to an open door, from inside you hear someone casting a spell. Also you feel rushing wind from the room and a smell like the beach?

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Vek drains the potion Tella gave him as they follow the trail.
Healing potion: [2d4+2] = 7+2 = 9
When they reach the open doorway, he charges through it, sword ready for more butchery.

Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Vek charges through the door, and sees quite a strange scene. The place is a large elegant apartment. Along one wall is a magic portal, and a treasure chest lies knocked over and dragged along the ground away from the gate, by the look of it. It is lying perhaps 10 feet from the magic gate.
As vek enters the room, a stone statue comes walking thought the gate which is open upon the other side to a bright sunny day, and by the sound of it near an ocean. Bright light sears your eyes when you look into the room, but as you adjust you also see a ghostly form of the clerk, his body covered with satchels he is walking quickly at the gate. Sudden he is coated in faerie fire.
The statue is obviously trying for the chest, and you hear voices out on the beach someone is yelling through the gate, but you can't make out the words. The clerk is obviously trying to flee, Garl must be in here somewhere invisible.

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Without hesitation, Vek pounces at the Clerk, his ruthless blade swung in a stroke meant to shear his torso in half.
Initiative: [1d10] = 2
Vek: +3 Long Sword: To Hit: [1d20+8] = 13+8 = 21 . Damage: S/M: [1d8+9] = 6+9 = 15 , L: [1d12+9] = 10+9 = 19 Faerie fire not included in macro.
If the wizard somehow survives Vek's onslaught, the grim warrior repeats his offer with a snarl:
"Bring us the Fat Man and we'll let you go. But if we find him first, the deal's off."

Garl calls out "He is through the gate you lummox! He has 4 guards and his clerk is insubstantial." Garl then immediately does something nobody can see.

Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
Glimble stops near Vek "Come the true foe lies through the portal, Vek the clerk is not main focus here. Leave the man and lets go through the portal before it is closed." the gnome tries to talk some reason into the one time holy warrior. "This calls for ration not rage my friend."

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Then Vek hacks the Clerk to death.
Following Glimble through the portal, Vek smiles, "No. It's not rage, Glimble. It's justice.
"No enslaver of children that comes under my sword today shall be spared. How can they be?"

"Garl!" Vek's laugh is the short deep bark of a wolf. Happy that his little friend has been skulking along behind them after all, Vek turns back to the Clerk and his smile becomes something terrible. "Too late. Looks like we found him first."ylinett wrote:Garl calls out "He is through the gate you lummox! He has 4 guards and his clerk is insubstantial."

Glimble goes through the portal hoping to follow Garl and is distraught that Vek has lost his way....

Re: 11-Skullport-Trip 2- After the Fat Man!
The whole room is back into chaos, the huge statue picks up the chest and heads back toward the door. Enoka runs straight across the room and leaps through the gate.
Vek jumps toward and slices the clerk cutting him through the stomach. The clerk goes down with a destroyed spell on his lips - he is alive, perhaps, but dying.
As Glimble shakes his head, too late to refocus Vek, he charges forward toward the gate. He sees Enoka is just on the other side, and battling a statue, the other statue is on its way back now Glimble is almost in its way. It is carrying the chest easily tucked under an arm.
