Calto the druid:

"Perhaps we can enlist the aid of your unseen servant to retrieve the glimmering trinket?" Calto inquires of Siavel.

The adventurers inspect the area more closely.

Image
Ignore the branching corridors, go by my map.

Azoth sees only one trap with his divine sight - the eagle's mouth.

"That is a good idea," Siavel admits in response to Calto.

The elf, like the others in the party, is a treasure hunter, raiding dungeon, cavern or keep in search of gold. It was their quest before being shipwrecked here. The lure of coin, gem and trinket is strong in them. Tabai the native jungle barbarian is here for different reasons - to escape the savages, and return with artifact or these white men to help save his people. Thus his continued reticence in disturbing the shrine and its sacred items.

Siavel orders the unseen Panguine to get that which is held in the eagle's mouth. It is an intricately crafted golden ring. As the ring is removed the mouth snaps shut; had a human hand been in there it would be missing, but the invisible otherworldly Panguine does not seem effected. The bracelet floats over to Siavel.

Up close it can be seen to be exceedingly well crafted and studded with a variety of small gemstones. Judging by the runes and extra-heavy weight, likely magical. The experienced eye of the adventurers value it to be worth in excess of 1,000 gp.

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:

"NO!" snarls the blood-eyed cleric, apparently too late. "It's another trap!"

The priest falls back, awaiting what fresh new doom Siavel's greed has wrought.

The expected danger does not arise.

"Anyone want to try this on?" asks Siavel about the bracelet.

Azoth figures the mouth of the eagle was the trap, ineffective against the unseen servant. The bracelet does not glow in the cleric's vision.

Seeing no takers, Siavel puts the bracelet on. Nothing outwardly apparent happens. He walks down the hallway looking at but not touching the animal heads. At the east end of the corridor he stops.

"I believe there is a secret door there."
- Siavel mystery roll [1d6] = 1. That was the elf find secret doors just passing them by roll, which he actually made.

Calto the druid:

Calto treads lightly down the hall to join Siavel. He looks for the hidden door but sees nothing. He turns to the elf, cocks an eyebrow and questions, "Shall we?"

He pauses before proceeding, "Perhaps we should wait to see if Azoth's blessed sight reveals anything."

The corridor ends in a bas relief of a spear and shield armed warrior. The shield rests on the floor and bears a peculiar pattern, like a sundial, and a warning in Olman script. Tabai translates it into something like "Turn Back!"

Azoth sees no trap. But he feels a warmth from the exotic dagger tucked behind his breast plate.

Calto the druid:

"Nay, let us proceed. I have an idea."

Calto kneels in front of the bas-relief warrior and attempts to rotate and turn the guardian's sundial shield.

The bad air further wearies the adventurers (-1 HP each.) Siavel is unsteady on his feet, still very wounded from his beatings (at 1 HP.)

"Ranger, have you any of that healing pipeweed?" the elven sorcerer rasps.

Calto the wise druid turns the sun dial and the secret door opens to reveal a great hallway. The secret door entrance is 8' above the floor.

Image

The hallway is 20 ft wide and has piles of rubble and debris scattered along its length. The walls are covered with frescoes. The west wall depicts a nation of slaves questing for a new land; their trials of the journey include crossing treacherous mountains, eerie swamps, and raging rivers, and the guidance of the gods in their battles to keep their homeland free from invasions by the Scaled Ones. In the center of this wall is painted a pyramid with a temple atop it and the sun shining over the new land. The eastern wall has scenes of a battle between red skinned natives and black skinned invaders. There are double bronze doors in the northeast corner of this wall. At the southern end is an archway carved with twining feather-winged serpents.

I updated the spell list in the DM Log. I believe Calto used all his cure spells.

Though I recall it was discussed in OOC, Azoth's many Slow Poisons were not applied (for the bad air.) Which would be followed by Calto's Neutralize Poison at the end, to cancel out the poison in at least one person.

Tabai has yet to use his native barbarian healing skills. Perhaps the junglemen don't have such skill ;)

Azoth glares with eyes as red as murder. Scanning for unseen dangers, his sorcerous vision pierces timber, stone and shadow.

Tabai shows signs of his hesitance to enter the place with such an obvious warning. Though the putrid air causing harm to him has him wanting to get out of the foul air.

Calto the druid:

Calto gives the frescoed hall a scrutinizing eye. When he spots the twining serpents, he whispers, "Most unatural joining of bird and snake."

He then looks to Azoth, "What does your enchanted vision reveal?"
