Osprey creeps into the room and takes up position to have a clear shot through the door that is ajar. He gestures for Aric to slowly push that door open and Osprey will fire if anything immediately threatens and otherwise he or one of the others can go through it.

Hex wanders in carefully alert, and makes his way to the rug. He will prod it with a dagger first to make sure it isn't a trap, and then lift the nearest side with his dagger to peer underneath.

Wondering where the inconsolable cries and the gnashing of teeth went, Phineas joins Kragg at sizing up the northern door, likewise avoiding the carpet.

The party ushers into the vestry and spreads out to explore.

With arrow nocked, Osprey steps lightly toward the door that stands ajar to the southeast. The elf takes aim at the darkness within, ever vigilant of potential threats. Although his elven eyes are sharp, they cannot clearly discern what lies beyond in the gloom.

Kragg and Phineas examine the door to the north for traps, but their efforts reveal nothing. With this, Kragg makes his way to investigate the partially open door to the southeast. The dwarf strains to detect any sound but his hearing does not fare any better than Osprey’s vision, and he notices nothing.

Hex circles the rug that lies in the center of the floor, and he cautiously prods it with his dagger to ensure that is safe. After his trepidation is slightly assuaged, he carefully lifts the rug’s edge for a closer look and finds nothing beneath but solid stone.

Yon moves over to inspect the rows of clerical vestments. As he sifts through the dusty garments, he finds one of the prayer shawls is adorned with a silver brooch set with a cat’s-eye gemstone.

Aric attempts to open the cabinet standing against the west wall; however, he finds that it is securely locked.

Brother Wil keeps guard as the other party members busy themselves with exploring the chamber.

"Do you think the hallway in enspelled somehow with supernatural darkness yes yes hmmm?" Hex asks as he approaches the open doorway and tries to peer within. He will light his candle and shine it forth into the corridor if he can

Kragg "Eh? Could be so. I'm not sure though." the dwarf shrugs walking off to examine other areas of the room.

Osprey shrugs. No one else seems concerned about the noise that brought them in here. The elf retreats to the doorway the group entered and stands guard, keeping an eye on the other two doors of the room. He listens for any further signs of what may be about.

Yon reaches for the cat's-eye brooch to have a closer look. The pin is finely crafted, and he surmises the piece is probably worth about 50 gp.

Encouraged by Yon's find, Phineas rummages through the rows of priestly attire in an attempt to claim treasures of his own; however, the inquisitive halfling finds nothing but disappointment.

Hex boldly steps toward the partially opened doorway and shines his candle therein. The darkness is banished, and the illusionist tilts his head to gain a better vantage of what lies beyond. He sees what appears to be a small storeroom, as the walls are lined with shelves, crates, and boxes.

Aric stands before the locked cabinet and inquires if those with more deft fingers are willing to disable the hindrance before the barbarian resorts to more primitive measures.

Hex will try and call one of our intrepid trapspringers over to take a gander into the storage cupboard. If no one is game he will watch the area for signs of anything moving and alive (or undead) within and slam the door if he sees anything move.

P.T. Codswallop, halfling impresario:

The emptyhanded entrepreneur sadly leaves the holy vestments and approaches the cabinet. He squints at it with fierce concentration, wrinkles his mustache, rolls up his sleeves, wiggles his fingers, and finally inspects it.

Osprey will creep over to the north door and listen carefully at it to discern what is beyond. The handling of priestly things by the others makes him a bit nervous. He remembers only too well what happened recently.
