10- UnderMountain-Trip 6-The New Crew
Re: 10- UnderMountain-Trip 6-The New Crew
Tella sets up a meeting with Mhair, and after some discussion, and a bit of regular talk over tea, Mhair suggests that you meet with Ben, who might have some information about skullport.
* I'm on a time crunch this morning so I'll detail the meeting with Ben soon. You don't have a map of the Fat Mans keep and surrounds but some of you studied the area so you may be able to draw a map of sorts.

Re: 10- UnderMountain-Trip 6-The New Crew
A meeting is set up with the mysterious wizard Ben in Cookhouse Hall along the waterfront in the dockward. A large open hall, thrown together with huge timbers, the place is full with sailors when you arrive just before dinner time.
Men are drinking and eating and a murmur of discussions and laughter fill the hall. You slip in unnoticed by most of the crowd, but then a bare-chested man with many beaded necklaces and a shaved head and piercings through his lips and nose comes up to you. He grunts, almost unintelligibly to follow, and takes you back by the bathrooms. A cook gives a nod as you slip into a large pantry, floor to ceiling goods and herbs hanging above.
Through that room, you turn into a small hallway, past some hanging meat, and then into a small door, pehaaps only 24 inches wide. You find that you've probably left Cookhouse hall, since the murmur of the festhall is fading away.
Next is a series of rambling hallways and interconnected rooms, seemingly built by insane carpenters. All the rooms are an array of sizes, with varying ceiling heights, and awkward angles. Finally, you actually enter an uncomfortably small octagonal library, three floors high, with inset windows revealing rows of books rising into the air. A single ladder allows access to the levels and a row of padded benches rings the room. In the center of the room is a large magical lantern, blazing with fake flames behind complex glass panes.
The elder wizard sits upon the padded bench his darkwood staff alon his knees. He motions for you to sit as he puts down his book. In his gruff voice he barks, why is it you seek to attack this slaver. Vengeance? Profit? Your answer better be truth for I will know a lie.

Glimble "Faith, to do good and as my big friend says justice. Mostly I do it for the children and the kindness of my own heart." the gnome says truthfully looking the wizard in the eye as best he can from his height.

Looks around aimlessly. Seeming curious but having the appearance of one that will remember little of what he sees or at least how to communicate it. When the old Wizard speaks, he hesitates a moment while others talk and then feels the wizards eyes on him. He looks at the wizard eye locked expectantly as if he thinks the wizard is about to say something important, obviously already having forgotten the question or never hearing or processing it to begin with. He continues to stare right back with the innocence of a simpleton.

The wizard Ben stares down Vek for a single moment. I believe you, warrior, I can tell this is important to you.
My name isn't Ben, it is khelben arunson, some call me the Blackstaff. This city is important to me and one of our greatest rules is that slavery is outlawed. For too long these slavers below have been allowed to steal citizens in the night. Well perhaps you are the wolves that will come for them!
I have an undercover group, force grey, and several of my !en live in Skullport. They will get you back out. They will arrange for a ship to meet you and this man will coordinate everything, go to see him once you reach the city.
He hands Glimble a slip of paper, and then eyes Glimble staff. I recognize that wood, it is not from this world. Take care of that treasure gnome, it is a sliver from the greatest of trees.

Glimble shakes a bit with glee at hearing he has met the Blackstaff, smiling "An honor to meet you Mister Blackstaff. Yes the staff I understand is a treasure of a lifetime. I am happy to have been graced with finding it. I shall treasure it always."

Tella - Elf Mage
Tella bows to the mage and takes her leave: So, let's make our way to the candle shop?
OCC: Did everyone buy some healing potions?

Garl will attempt to be the last one out. As everyone else leaves he leans over to the wizened mage and whispers "Long I have been gone from my home. I fear that I shall not live to see my family again. Can you fortell my fate? I know this task is noble, but I fear it will be the end of me."
