 No, but that would have been a funny twist. The goo doesn't work on undead. :D

You guys should read back through the threads beginning here: viewtopic.php?f=337&t=5988&start=20

No more hints. ;)
Aric would either burn or sell or all of the above, so he won't be much help there.

As his tribesmen would say, just get up and walk it off.

Hi,
I'm away for Thanksgiving. Back on Monday.
Please NPC my character if I'm holding things up.

After the cats eye shenanigans, Phineas will help secure the resting area and take a watch shift.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

My thinking for Morris' position in marching order:
* single file- between Phineas and Yon (gives him at least two layers protection from behind) or between Osprey and Hex if we want him to be the lead full spellcaster in the line for frontal assaults

* double file- maybe by himself between the Osprey-Hexalon and the Phineas-Yon ranks?

* punitive hazing option- tie a rope around his waist and prod him up ahead of everyone and just see what happens. His nickname can be "canary".

* not sure how well he and hawk communicate but wherever he is he may be very useful in relaying what is ahead regardless of where he walks in the line

arcane spell options
May Osprey choose read magic and then try again to learn the scroll spell at the end of the rest?

marching order:
Osprey, throwing all caution to the wind, is willing to take lead in marching order if others think this will be helpful. His qualifications include: high dexterity, proficient with a bow (and sword), and utilizes spells at inappropriate times to absolutely no effect. So consider me for your scout when you are at the ballot box. Thank you and good night.

You guys could consider sharing your spell books with each other and opening up your options :)

Share?? Share?! You have such quaint notions and a dangerously trusting nature.

(Actually that's not a bad idea. I'm not sure how it works but as long as I don't have to publicly endorse the idea, I'm all for it.)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

As far as the idea of sharing spells from your spell books goes, I say go for it. The DMG even suggests that doing so is a sign of superior play. :) You guys control your characters, and you can do whatever you like; however, there are a couple of things we need to consider:

A mage's spell book is an extremely personal text and highly secretive in nature. I will let you guys role play it out if you want to share spells, but remember, Osprey and Morris just met.

Transcribing spells in the catacombs is not possible. The harsh conditions will not allow it (improper lighting, lack of materials and scribing tools, etc). You guys would have to return to Silington, or another town/village, in order to do so.

Sharing spells will come with the usual requirements: chance to understand and max number of spells from intelligence, the cost, materials, and time involved in copying the spells.

As far as Osprey's scroll goes, he will have to wait until he reaches second level as a mage before he can try to read the scroll again.

Optimism rises from the ashes...

But if Morris and Osprey at least agree now to share once they are back in town then they are both exhibiting "superior play"!
And as we all know, "superior play" is DM code for "I will reward you with fabulous prizes and ensured survival". Caution to the wind, boys! We're on the fast track now!

I'm not certain about how ready Morris is to share spells yet. I mean *I* would but I think that he's still a little hesitant. I think that he probably needs to be tested a little.

Regarding marching order, somewhere near the front? I'll probably prepare "Affect Normal Fires" and he has a pouch of lamp oil. I haven't tried it out yet but my intention was to lob them into melee, soak the opponents and then cast fire.

Oh, and sorry for the delay. It's been holdiay nuts around here.
