Vek heaves the door open qicky. It slides back with only a slight grating noise, and reveals a fairly large irregular room. You move in quick armed and expecting trouble but the room is empty? There don't seem to be any other doors in this room so you have no idea where those creatures went. You do notice that more signs of graffiti and garbage litter the room. The stink of goblins and perhaps orcs as well fills your noses. The dwarves in your group are sure that orcs have been here recently!

Ganon:

Ganon holds his arm up to his nose in vain effort to block the stench from penetrating his olfactory senses. In a muffled voice from behind his arm he says "There must be a hidden door some where." Ganon moves into the room and with one arm still blocking the retched odor. He starts to examine the interior walls starting left of the entrance. He examines the walls with his eye light looking for signs of scraping or broken seams in the stone.

You look about the room and notice an of the room that seems to have more foot traffic. Sure enough there is a secret door there on the southern wall. As you push on it it clicks and then rides sideways on a hidden mechanism. A standard dungeon corridor in front of you, you shine your lights forward and see that it does turn right after perhaps 20 feet. The smell of orcs and goblins is still strong, there must be a lot of them nearby somewhere.....

Pushing ahead you round two quick turns and run straight into a group of monsters lying in wait.

Vek and Thorax in the lead turn the corner and see a band of orcs with a goblin or two. In the very front two orcs were holding back a huge two headed dog! They unleash it and it begins to charge as the orcs and goblins unleash crossbows and hurl spiked throwing clubs. A crossbow bolt strikes Vek (6damage) and a club strikes Thorax (2damage).

: Roll for initiative [1d10] = 4

Thorax will boop the doggie on it's snoot! Er...cleave it in twain. In Dwarven "Clangeddin guide my blows!". In common "Vek this is what my god offers!"

Roll to Hit [1d20] = 18 forRoll for Damage [1d8+5] = 8+5 = 13

and
Roll to Hit [1d20] = 10 for: Roll for Damage [1d8+5] = 5+5 = 10

Tantos Vek, Failed paladin:

Vek charges grim and workmanlike into the fray once more. His hungry long sword is merciless against dog or goblin, whichever is still standing when he reaches them.

I see Thorax rolled twice, so here's two rolls just in case:
Vek Long Sword: To Hit: [1d20+6] = 8+6 = 14 . Damage: S/M: [1d8+7] = 4+7 = 11 , L: [1d12+7] = 4+7 = 11

Vek Long Sword: To Hit: [1d20+6] = 19+6 = 25 . Damage: S/M: [1d8+7] = 1+7 = 8 , L: [1d12+7] = 5+7 = 12

Roseheart, the orcs are piled up on top of each other, and your comrades are fighting just in front of you, so the lighting situation is pretty bad. You'd have to guess from your quick count that there are at least 20 orcs in a group ahead of you.

They are packed in a formation of some sort, with 4 orcs in the first row holding out large shields. These shields have the sign of fire in red upon them. Many of the orcs are mutilated and scarred with flames. The orcs in the rows behind the shield bearers are carrying spiked clubs, and crossbows. There are other orcs with swords ready to attack if the shield bearers drop! There are a few goblins weaving about their ranks, they grin madly and lick curved shortswords and cruel knives. They are chanting or cackling some kind of fever prayer!

That two headed dog is the size of a pony, but Thorax is charging it un-deterred!

Roseheart waves hands in a clearly magical nature and then extends his hand out towards the advancing enemy with a formidable phrase 'Ignis Crepitis!".

Cast Fireball to target approximately 30' behind the front line of shield carrying orcs.

doable?

Tella - Elf Mage

Tella spins up a 10x40 lightning bolt in front of the two headed dog. She will place it where it might hit more than the doggy.

Quick reply before I resolve round: Roseheart 2e AD&D fireballs are huge! The ceiling is low here so the fireball will surely hit asll of you if directed against the orcs. Let me know if you chance the splash damage to yourself. A good rule of thumb is 33 10' squares. The ceilings are low in here so things will get hot.

Tella. If you try to get the doggie in the lightning blast there is a chance it may strike both Thorax and Vek. If you direct it at the orcs it would only hit the orcs but would probably get all that are in your sight. Also damage should be 7d6.

Roseheart

As tempting as it is to let fly, i'll switch to Snilocs Snowball - sounds like a bit too close for quarters (unfortunately). Thanks for the note!
