ooc: I guess what I want to know is if Morgi drowns the giants in mud, will it affect where the gnomes are hiding?

Oh, ok.
I would think that, being an alteration, you could adjust the AoE to as little or as much as you want. (within the listed limits of course) The book uses a rock in the example. That's small.

I would allow a mud puddle directly below the force dome if that's what you're thinking. We can't have you toppling towers over now, can we? ;)

Morgi approaches the dome with the intent to communicate though it. "Explain yourselves. Now."

The creatures inside can not hear Morgi's command through the force wall. They violently bang on the invisible barrier a bit longer, shouting unheard obscenities at the druid.

Eventually, they all move to the other side of the dome and get into a tight huddle, turning their backs to the party. They look to by hiding some action from the view of the group.

When Xano gets to the other side of the dome, she now sees only three of the giant sized creatures and one very tiny creature, about the size of a gnome.

The 3 giants turn around again. They are each carrying the little guy by a limb and look to be ready to tear the smaller creature apart right in front of you.

The smaller creature is obviously screaming and in a great deal of pain. He peers through the force dome at the party with the look of fear and death in his eyes.

Actions!

Xano- Looks confused for a second than realizes that the gnomes are able to turn themselves into giants. Do not remove the dome they are trying to trick us. They can turn themselves into giants and back gnomes. Let them know we have not been decieved.

Blodget, halfling thief:

The foolish, young hobbit jumped and yelped: "I knew the gnomes weren't working with the giants! They're too cute! That's why they ran from them!
"Mister Morgi, sir! We've got to save that adorable, little, sweet, rascally gnome! Just look at those cheeks! And quick! If'n you please, sir?! Before they kill him!"

Wyntar...Well, if they are able to transmorph, then let us not worry about playing their game! How much longer do you think the dome will remain in effect, Morgi? I think it is of the utmost importance to keep going on our mission.

Some sort of subterfuge is certainly happening, Mira agrees, I speak as an expert on the subject. However, there is no illusion I can detect at work here. She continues watch on the Gnomes' "front door."

Trotter paces outside of the wall of force with his sword drawn. If the giants try anything, he's ready for them

Morgi responds to the question, "We have a while yet. but there is only one explanation, however implausible. The giants and gnomes must be one in the same."

Blodget, halfling thief:

"What? No! But it can't be!" Blodget cried, incredulous and worried. "Cute adorable gnomes love mischief, of course, but that hardly makes them evil giants! The giants could have had the poor gnome in their giant pockets! Or maaaybe the giant could be an evil shapeshifter! But not the gnomes!
"Whyever do you think the sweet little playful gnomes (who never bothered anyone and were merely minding their own little business when we crashed in on them, most uninvited) are in league with the very giants from which they fled?!?"

Pull yourself together kinsmate, I sensed evil upon them when we first encountered them. Pelor shows the way, if we can choose to follow the light. Be ready. Once the Giants are freed... Well it may be a tough fight unless the finger wigglers have something up their sleeves." the halfling paladin says sternly to the thief.

Trotter says,I know not if they are one and the same. If the gnomes be evil, and a paladin would know, then so be it! Regardless, my blade aims to bite at the flesh of giants again! So if they be one and the same we shall slay them!

Xano- Looks over the giants. Blodget there were four giants inside the dome. Now there are only three. That can only mean that they can transform into giants and back to gnomes.

Blodget, halfling thief:

Realization slowly dawned on the foolish young hobbit. "...Giant gnomes... Well I never!"
He looked back to the door where the ice gnomes retreated. "I'd rather fight gnomes, even dear, darling ones, than giants! Let's go into the icicle tower, where the giants can't follow us!" Blodget said as he took three steps down the stairs and waited for his friends to follow.

Trotter says, Or they can turn invisible, friend Xano. Did I ever tell you the story of when I defeated the Invisible Ogre of Morgi Pass? He could also shoot cold. Mean bugger, but I took him down.

Just like I'll take you all down
, he concludes, yelling at the now three giants in the dome.

"Do we have any more magic that could contain them in a larger area than the force dome, or are we just to pick a giant each and get them?" the paladin asks to the group at large?
