Re: Chp. 2: Deeper Into the Shrine!
The adventurers discuss next steps.
Tabai looks around at the walls more, not understanding all the white man talk. His eyes are drawn to an image on the wall above the pit.
The jungle native tries to communicate some of the pictographic language to Kitchi, using his hand signals and rudimentary white man tongue.

Calto the Druid:
After administering healing to Leomar, Calto takes a seat on the chamber floor, and signals for his bat friend to come down from the heights and shadows of the ceiling. He proceeds to rummage through his backpack and removes a small piece of dried fruit from his bundle of rations with which he begins to feed the bat."Well, men, I've exhausted The Earth Mother's healing gifts. Where do we proceed from here?"

Re: Chp. 2: Deeper Into the Shrine!
Tabai lost in the white man talk that he does not currently know only understanding minimal words shrugs and looks to Kitchi the only one he can fully communicate with in a manner he can fully comprehend. The Savage merely stands there holding his spear with the odd gold tipped one strapped to his back that he took from the mummy. Waiting for a direction to go in or something to kill.

Kitchi- I believe Tabia is saying that he has had a vision from his god. I will make sure I am understanding correctly. Kitchi will try to confirm what he is understanding with Tabia.

Calto the Druid:
At the sound of this, Calto sits up attentively, and responds to Kitchi, "What did he say? Messages from the gods are no trifling matter, especially when the worshippers are so akin to the earth."Dram wrote:Kitchi- I believe Tabia is saying that he has had a vision from his god. Just making an "i'm still here' post while Leomar is unconcious.

Azoth Al-Aziz, occultic priest:
"My healing powers are also spent," uttered Azoth darkly. "We have only unsatisfactory choices before us now: either we stop again and wait for Leomar to heal, or we leave him somewhere "safe" as we continue on without him. Perhaps the shrine's roof? The ignorant savages dare not approach this profane ground. ...One thief should suffice for our needs."Mant72 wrote:Calto the Druid:

Azoth coolly observed the pictoglyphs and said, "My friend, must you romanticize the deranged cannibals that are working so hard to eat us alive?"Mant72 wrote:Calto the Druid:

Alex 'Blade Rain' Vam; Human male Fighter
Alex will shrug and say; "Whatever fiendish creatures and traps are in this accursed place will be here whether we find a place to hole up or not; so I vote to not move until our spell-slingers can heal poor Leomar a bit again; but if the majority decide to keep moving; I'll carry him."

Good! Carry him then if you can. If we find a more suitable place to stop and rest, we can stop there for a while.

Calto the Druid:
The bat finishes its meal of dried fruit and takes flight as Calto stands and continues on with his thoughts. "Regardless of what is decided, we can't just simply leave the wounded man here unattended; however, I cannot sit idly by for hours on end. I am for returning to the 'mirror room', as you know it is only one room over, to see what else there is to uncover. Leomar will be fine here for a few moments."
Calto collects a handful of small stones from the debris in one of the corners and proceeds to walk back through the 'mirror chamber' to stand in the doorway. He makes sure all of his companions and his bat-friend are out of the room before loading a stone into his sling and losing it at the mirror framed in black lacquered wood.
Calto cracks a grin at Azoth's quip. "Not romanticizing, my friend, just keeping an ear open for possible direction for our next course. Nature speaks with many tongues."Inferno wrote:Azoth coolly observed the pictoglyphs and said, "My friend, must you romanticize the deranged cannibals that are working so hard to eat us alive?"

Re: Chp. 2: Deeper Into the Shrine!
Tabia the noble jungle savage converses with the ranger Kitchi. Grunts, whistles, hand movements, foot stomps, and broken Common words are exchanged. The wall pictographs above the pit seem to tell of a priest who had a vision or dream of a fierce female with an axe who killed enemies or sacrafices in, or on top of, the Shrine. Or possibly in dreams. At least this is what Kitchi interprets in his limited knowledge.
The party deliberates next steps. Among the options mentioned: resting; leaving Leomar in a safe place and continuing; leaving the Shrine altogether; moving on together to explore this level or going down to the next level. In this room is the pit door and altar compartment. There remains the mirror room and another unopened door on this level, as well as stairs going down (see map.)
Bruno the thief-acrobat maneuvers down into the pit, balancing carefully to avoid the spikes, and sees the door is a simple affair with a latch that doesn't appear to have a lock mechanism.
Calto the druid returns to the mirror chamber and slings a stone at the black-lacquered mirror. It cracks and several pieces radiating from the impact point fall out. It doesn't appear that there is a door behind it.

Calto the Druid:
Calto remains in the doorway, just outside of the 'mirror chamber', and reloads his sling to fire off at the last two remaining mirrors. He takes aim at the blue one first and then the red one.

Kitchi- Wiats till Bruno is at the bottom of the pit then follows him down. I shall follow Bruno down to cover him in case of trouble.

Re: Chp. 2: Deeper Into the Shrine!
Calto strikes the other two mirrors. The red mirror breaks, and for a moment the druid sees a ghostly image of death. The blue mirror also breaks and water leaks out from the sling stone hole and many cracks. Several seconds pass then the whole mirrors explodes outward as a gush of water flows out. It flows for about a minute, filling the floor of the room with about an inch of water.
