Great idea, Dram.
Grog, does Orando have a Knock spell? Maybe the thing is just wizard locked.

Grillock - Looks at the mage walking down the road. You grumpy ole Crow You feel well enough to walk back to town. I thought it may be less strenuous on you to cast a spell.

Orando, unseen glamourist

"How droll," floats Orando's voice across the wind. "I am not young enough to know everything, but it seems we are at an impasse."

"Ugghra, I have nothing so useful as a Knock dweomer. Perhaps you could use your family sword as a crow bar, or shovel to help dig."

"Panguine, keep digging!"

Krual Caine, half-human monster:

"DO I LOOK LIKE UGGHRA TO YOU?!" The Ugghra-esque creature barked.
"IF THERE'S STONEWORK BENEATH THIS FLOOR, WE'LL NOT BE ABLE TO SHOVEL THROUGH ITS WALLS.

"THE OLD WIZARD NEEDS REST. HE DIED TODAY, AFTER ALL," the thing smiled horribly.
"THEN HE WILL BREAK THIS ACCURSED SPELL."

"WIZARD!" the monster shouted to the departing Odilo. "YOU'RE TOO WOUNDED TO MAKE IT BACK TO TOWN. TAKE YOUR REST HERE, NOW. UNDER OUR PROTECTION," it leered.

Odilo limps back to the group after being yelled at by the huge half-orc. He arrogantly points his staff at the brute and uses the very reverse of the spell that Orando used to initially enlarge him.

The huge Krual Caine begins to painfully return back to his normal size. (I'll let the master do his own work here) :D
If only he could use his powers of shrinkage on something else.

"Well we don't seem to be making any progress here. We had a nice walk and took out some ogres which no doubt would have caused someone trouble at some point, though I doubt they have any involvement in the vanishings. Perhaps we might all head back to town."

As I recall there was smoke so I presume the ogres had a fire. If so the ranger will make sure the fire is out.

Krual Caine, half-human monster:

The heinous horror writhed and snarled as it underwent a startling, violent transformation of scale, demeanour and of the mind. As its stature diminished, it soon seemed more like the Sir Ugghra of before, albeit still soaked with blood.

Sir Ugghra, half-orc aristocrat:

The gentlemanly abomination regained his composure and said, “My Word. Do Please Forgive Me. I... I Seem To Have Experienced Some Sort Of Dreadful Spell. No Doubt Due To The Witchcraft Of The She-Elf!
"Thank You, Good Odilo For Saving Me From Its Dastardly Effects.
"Well... Best Put It Behind Us. I Magnanimously Forgive You, Orando. Now Let’s Press On, and Have No More Talk About It.”

Sir Ugghra fastidiously cleaned himself and the sacred sword of Quo as best he could, and was soon ready to set off back to town. "Given My Natural Leadership Abilities and Good Breeding, I'll Be Happy To Take The Lead. Let's Not Dawdle, Now. Chop Chop."

"master:" Ha! Not likely but thanks. :)

Sir Ugghra, half-orc aristocrat:

The refined beast suddenly stopped. "Wait. Mr. Odilio, It Appears You've Sufficiently Recovered To The Extent That You May Use Your Staff. If I May Be So Bold, Has It Any Powers To Unlock This Stone Altar? 'Knock,' Perchance? Or 'Dispel Magic,' As Mr. Grillock Suggested?"

"...Or Perhaps, Good Sir, You Might Simply 'Reduce' Its Size."

Sorry Inferno, I guess that if you were unwilling to be shrunk back down, I should have givin you a save for that. I just thought it was hilarious that he shrunk you down but didn't think to do that to the slab, so I just went with it.

Odilo can use an item but can not cast a spell until he rests. The staff is limited to one use per power so, it is used up for the day now.

Odilo "Glad to have you back. I'm afraid the staff's powers are used for the day my invisibility and the shrinking spell were the extent it can manage for a day."

Sir Ugghra, half-orc aristocrat:

"I Am Indebted To You, Sir. And I Believe Your Staff Holds The Key To This Puzzle," the elegant gargoyle opined, glancing at the altar. "What Say You We Return At Dawn Tomorrow To Try Again? Or Better Yet Stay Here And Surreptitiously Observe Whether Others Visit This Strange Ruin In The Small Hours Of The Night?"

Grillock looks to the sky and shades the sun with his hand.

Look. There. He points to the western sky.

Do you see the two black shapes flying far off in the distance?

Orando sees them as well.

Perhaps they are hungry after their frightening tryst in the forest. I'm not so sure I want to be out here after dark. Those things could be on us before we ever saw them, and they could rip us all to pieces.

Father Dowling

I think Grillock makes an excellent point. I know I would prefer to sleep in a bed tonight and not worry about those creatures coming back here and eating us.

Orando, transparentice

"Welcome back Ugghra. The visit by Caine was delightful. You shouldn't keep him such a secret," the voice of the elf comments.

"I remain unseen and could camp here the night to observe," he offers.
