Dr. Ryerson:

Captain Dillon Wyse
Dillon simply eyes up Costello as if he has provided information that is completely useless to the mission. He nods to Abbot, "Go ahead and check it out Ensign. Report back immediately. I don't want anyone staying out of touch too long." He returns his eyes to the front of their march. "Thank you Doctor. Let's make towards those readings. Everyone stay awake and aware. We still have no idea as to what we are dealing with here."

LCDR Dale Collins; Helmsman
Dale can't help but shake his head a little bit upon hearing the Ensign complain about getting gunk on his boot. Was I ever THAT bad when I was an ensign?, he wonders to himself, but keeps his mouth shut.
Upon hearing the Doctor's announcement of reading life signs; Dale instinctively draws his phaser and makes sure that its set to stun. He DOES NOT point it at anything other than ground, however. Dale moves forward upon the Captain's orders; unconsciously stepping a bit out to the side; so as to reduce the 'bunching up' effect if the life-forms were hostile and looking for targets....

Re: Away Team: Coxa II
Ensign Abbot stealthily moves to the left, phaser at the ready, to investigate. He goes around any bushes, or parts them if necessary.
If needed: Ensign Abbot stealthy? [1d20] = 10, [1d100] = 37
Ensign Costello scrapes the brown gunk off his boot with a stick. He's Starfleet-smart enough to know not to touch the stuff.

Commander Nadix Ar Eth, science officer:
If it didn't slow down the landing party's progress, the scientifically curious Edosian explorer will use his tricorder to better observe the properties of the unusual brown muck.

Re: Away Team: Coxa II
Ensign Abbot stealthily makes his way off the track and disappears into the manifold layers of green and white ferns. Dale Collins, having been in these situations before, instinctively fans out to the side and has his phaser at the ready. The scientists continue monitoring their tricorders, and Ensign Costello fumbles with a soggy stick as he tries to scrape the gurgling muck off of his boot. It smells of scorched carbon.
But for the continued beeping of the tricorders, the soft burbling of the pools of ichor, and the whistling wind, all is silent…

Dale keeps close and to the side of the Captain; keeping an alert eye and ear out for any signs of approaching beings; his phaser clutched tightly in his hand….

Commander Nadix Ar Eth, Science Officer:
The Edosian explorer of science serenely reported, "The molecular makeup of this brown liquid suggests that it is quite corrosive to metals, and would render any of our equipment useless in a matter of minutes."
Nadix calmly glanced back at the shuttlecraft to observe whether it was touching any of the unusual acidic compound.

Re: Away Team: Coxa II
The shuttlecraft is safe. The ichor seems to exist only beneath the jungle canopy, and not in the clearings.
Re: Away Team: Coxa II
Commander Nadix Ar Eth, Science Officer:
The Edosian turned back from the shuttlecraft. He peacefully observed, "The strange anomalies of this alien world are most intriguing. A radiation field that drains power systems. A compound that corrodes metal. It would appear that Coxa II itself supports the Prime Directive," he said with the trace of a smile.

Captain Dillon Wyse
"That is does, Mr. Nadir. That it does. Which means we need to be doubly careful. Ensign, make sure all that ichor is off your boot. I don't want to know what the long term effect is on skin.Lets redouble our efforts and find the source of this all."

Re: Away Team: Coxa II
"Aye aye sir," responds Ensign Costello, making sure to be thorough in wiping the ichor off his boot.
Ensign Abbot among the bushes announces perhaps too loudly: "All clear so far Captain!"

Captain Dillon Wyse
Dillon cringes momentarily as the ensign yells out the all clear. Thankfully this was not a stealthy mission, Dillon thought to himself. In a much quieter voice, the captain responds, "Thank you Mister Abbott. Please proceed."

LCDR Dale Collins; Helmsman
Dale shakes his head at the yelling of Ensign Abbot; but then tenses as he sees movement. Keeping his phaser not-quite-pointing where he saw the movement, Dale whispers to the others; "Captain; I just saw something move over there"; he points at some bushes due South; "Maybe 25 meters or so"; he finishes up while never letting his attention waver from the area....

Captain Dillon Wyse
The captain motions everyone to drop down to minimize the amount of them that can be seen. In a low voice he reminds everyone, "Phasers on stun. Don't fire till there is a clear and present danger."

The Edosian followed orders, taking cover as he scanned with his tricorder for lifeform readings in the direction that Collins had indicated.

"Tricorder readings detect three lifeforms coming directly for us, Captain," Nadix said serenely and quietly.

Re: Away Team: Coxa II
With phasers set on stun, the ensign security officers look to the Captain expectantly.

"Maintain cover," the captain whispers. "No one fires till we know what we are dealing with."
