Halo will attack the giant normally with his sunblade. Can we see why the giant isn't injured by the subdual damage, if it works on massive scaled dragons ... Are the blades connecting with the Giant's skin or warded from it by some magic can we see?

No, you can't tell why.

He is obviously not immune to swords.

I picture the giant wearing some wispy pajama type clothing, so you don't actually see his skin. The subdue attacks feel like they are connecting, just not causing him any damage.

I wish I could give you a better answer, but there are some things that a DM just can't expose.

Halo moves after the fast moving giant despite his severely injured state. If he hasn't used his healing touch yet he lays hands upon himself first. If he already has he whispers a prayer to Pelor and runs as fast as he can after the fleeing giant.

You are definitely below the main floor, but you have no way of knowing if there is another level below this one. If you use the sheer size of the cloud as a visual reference, you can determine that there may be deeper levels.
