Rounds 10, 11 & 12: "The Riddle of Clangeddin"

Rolling about on the ground, Vek and Thorax take turns lifting and tossing each other against the floor (4 damage each), each fighter using hips and legs as leverage to complete their throws. With the fight coming at him both physically and mentally, Vek goes back into complete silence, while Thorax continues his litany of verbal wrestling ;) Vek seems to be battling both thorax and some internal demons from his past.

Vek drops into another leg hold on Thorax, but thorax reaches up and counters the hold with a gouge (4 damage each). With exhaustion creeping into both of you, the fight continues on, the minor bumps and bruises starting to accumulate, and your arms are becoming weaker. Both of you are gasping for air, in a fight on the floor that has lasted several minutes now. Thorax twists once more, using his lower height to tumble Vek to the boards of the floor once more! However, Vek brings an arm up and catches Thorax with a massive elbow smash that rocks the dwarven fighter back, reeling and near passing out!!! (4 damage each)

Thorax realizes he can't take much more or he is out!

Tantos - LV6 Fighter, THACO=15 (13), Str=18/72 +2/+3 (AC=10)
Thorax - LV5 Fighter, THACO=16 (14), Str=18/73 +2/+3 (AC=9)

Tantos: 57=>53=>49=>45=>37=>28=>18=>6
Thorax: 45=>41=>37=>33=>29=>21=>13=>1

*We can roll 2 more times if you guys want, or Thorax could call the fight now without being knocked out, it would allow him to continue his preaching ;). The probability of Vek losing at this point is extremely small. *

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:

Vek returns to fighting grimly, silently, in the unadorned, ugly style that was his own.
The honesty of its stark, plain brutality felt good. Felt right.

None were more courageous than Thorax. And the dwarf did know inner peace. But at what price?

Rounds 13: "The Riddle of Clangeddin"

Reeling back, Thorax grabs Vek and places him into an arm lock, twisting and trying to evade the larger warrior. Vek spins though and smashes Thorax in the head, knocking the dwarf out, and ending the fight. The large human stands up, with the company standing about, exchanging money at the end of their bets. It was a good fight, and hard won!

*Only 25% of the damage was permanent, the rest heals overnight. The final damage can be healed at the slower natural rate, or via magic.*

Tantos - LV6 Fighter, THACO=15 (13), Str=18/72 +2/+3 (AC=10)
Thorax - LV5 Fighter, THACO=16 (14), Str=18/73 +2/+3 (AC=9)

Tantos: 57=>53=>49=>45=>37=>28=>18=>6=>2
Thorax: 45=>41=>37=>33=>29=>21=>13=>1=>(-3)

Excellent roleplaying everyone! Thorax give yourself 1000xp for driving this little story thread, Vek give yourself 500xp, and the rest of the company 200xp.

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:

Once the match was ended, Vek used his Healing skill on the brave Thorax.
If Thorax awoke, Vek would offer a hand to pull him up and say, "Well fought, Thorax!"

Later, Vek took the greatsword, and said: "I have a magic longsword I won't need anymore. Ganon could wield it. Does anyone else wish to claim it? Those interested could dice for it.

"Did any of you want the magic beans that transform into spiders? If none, we can sell them and split the profits. DM: How many beans are there?

"And who are among us would claim the rod we all recently found on our last delve? Those interested could dice for it.

"Let's distribute these treasures fairly and amicably among our number,"
Vek said, bleak and tired.

Thanks DM and Thorax! That was awesome.
DM, What was the final cut of gold on the last delve? Thanks.

Ganon:
Darkmane wrote: Ganon - you will be able to find a jeweler to make this ring for you for 200gp price!

Also your appraisers figure out that each of the gems Thorax recovered is probably worth around 5000gp each!!! That is a huge haul! You are going to have to find a suitable buyer, neither of the appraisers could move gems of that size, and you didn't like the looks they were giving the Tavemple when they left either. This is a huge score for any thief!
After the appraiser leaves the Tavemple Ganon speaks to the group.
"Well you heard Phineas the jeweler, these gems are worth a fortune. When word gets out that we are in possession of this much wealth we will have every cut throat and pickpocket at our front door. Not to mention the tax collector. We need to find a safer place to hold all this wealth. Any suggestions?"

OOC: Just to recap everyone just in case nobody was counting. We have an Opal worth 2000 gp, 4 Gems (emerald, jacinth, star sapphire, black sapphire) worth 5000 gp each. For a total of 22,000 gp. We can just leave that at the apartment or Tavemple unprotected.

200gp deducted from personal coffer for ring.

Roseheart claps Vek on the back and says, "Well done, buddy - I never had any doubt you would be victorious! Come, I'll buy you a drink..." As they turn and walk away a barely perceptible glimmer of guilt passes across his face and then is gone.

Thorax hits the ground, what transpires in the time he is out only he and his god might know. Upon returning to consciousness he could not be happier. If Vek is there he will offer to heal Vek and cast upon himself a bit. "Take it and bring death to the wicked. Be the light that chases the darkness and the flame that burns away the cold."

As for Ganon he will answer "Trevor. Either sell them immediately or look to him, perhaps he has a use."

Yes, Ganon is correct most of your loot came from the gems. Trevor helps you unload them and you do get 5000gp for each one of the larger ones.

The 2000gp gem, was sold to identify the sword and Rod, you had 1000p left over.

So with 21000 gp and 7 party members that is 3000gp for each of you!!! This may have been your most profitable journey into the dungeon so far!

Magical crossbow bolts +1 (100 gp each)

Healing Potions:
1d8 healing potions for 200gp
2d4+2 healing potions for 300gp
3d8+3 healing potion for 1500gp

Let me know what style armor you want to make for Glimble (I think I remember it would be chain armor, and I'll come up with a price for it, it should be a bit cheaper than purchasing from an armor dealer).

Ganon has his cool ring of light.

I think next up is the Block Party?

Vek laughs blackly as Glimble makes off with the magic staff. Just another fine, good priest, he thinks.

"I intend to," says Vek. "Thank you." Vek will accept Thorax's gracious offer of healing with sincere gratitude.

Vek will get that drink with Roseheart, "Don't you want any of the magical treasures that you've earned? If you never open your mouth, the selfish, greedy hogs of this black world will ride roughshod over you the rest of your days. 'The good must oppose the wicked'," Vek says, inadvertently, reflexively paraphrasing the holy scripture that had been beaten into him for years, long ago.

Later, Vek will bring 2000 gold pieces to the bakers he's shanghaied for charitable works. "Here," he says as he places another large sack on their desk. "Help the poor of this city. You know them better than I."

Of the remaining 1000, he'll buy three potions of healing (2d4+2), having learned from Tella.

Then he'll head to the party to stalk the Fat Man.

Glimble off admiring his staff and considering ways to engineer a staff with secrets within that can "pop" out of it. Thinks back on the wrestling match and despite being a man of religion ponders having a non-dwarf apart of a dwarf religion and the oddities of it all. Not to mention why Clangeddin would let Thorax loose. Seeking guidance from Gond in his prayers for answers.

Ganon:

Ganon will purchase two healing potions (1d8) and two waterskins. He bring his items back to the apartment and demonstrates to his fellow party members a great trick he was taught from an fellow adventurer. Ganon pours each potion into each waterskin and marks then to differentiate from his other waterskin that contains water.
"I learned this trick from Farron. You see these glass bottles are great on a shelf but when you're down in the depths they clank together making quite a racket. Not very good when one is trying to get around undetected. Plus when they fall they don't break this way." he holds up the now filled waterskin with a healing potion. "Now watch closely. I'm going to mark these two waterskins with the symbol of Waukeen. This way I know the contents are magical, clever huh? To everyone else they look just ordinary waterskins but we now know differently. I do this with all the magical liquids I find."

OCC: Reminder me please, what block party? And yes Ganon will attend any party. Gold for waterskins and potions deducted.

Super tied up today, I should be able to respond tomorrow.

-The block party is a huge party that has been going on for several days, has thousands of people involved, and has now taken over several city blocks in the Dock Ward.

-Tella, the Rod is a Rod of Absorption, I'll copy my post from earlier that explains its exact use and charges.

Ganon:

Ganon will go to the party. He will leave his weapons and armor at the apartment, wearing only simple garb to the celebration. In a small pouch around his waist is 10 gp, 4sp, and 8 cp.

OCC: What is the block party celebrating and who is the host/s?
