Another redshirt death. :(

No, based on previous tests when the landing party first arrived on the planet, it appears that the ooze is only mildly corrosive to metals. The volatile reaction against flesh is new and unexpected.

I finally got a chance to play A2-3 at a small convention last year, definitely worth it! The whole A-series could be reskinned to Star Trek, with Klingons as the slave lords. Or if you're into Babylon 5, maybe they could be Centauri dealing in a Narn slave trade.

I've never played them, but I read them all with the idea of running them here. I ran something else instead. :)

Doh!
Sorry!

So, the console can't tell us the size of the blast or the fallout, but does it control the self destruct process? The Romulan Commander said there was no override, but she could have been lying or mistaken.

Also, we have with us one unconscious enemy (Ursula?) and the remains of one ensign? If true, how much longer is the enemy expected to remain unconscious? Thanks.

It does not. Regardless of whether the Romulan Commander was lying or mistaken, Nadix can tell that the consoles outside are of the 'read only' variety, and with limited information at that. They display that the west door is open, that there is an emergency situation, and that a countdown is currently at 39 minutes. They cannot control the countdown, but it does seem like they can now control opening and closing each of the four outer doors. The Rod is not necessary for that in the state of emergency, apparently.

Ursula will wake up in 40 minutes, and one more sedative can be administered (2hrs duration) before it becomes a health risk for her (cumulative 10% chance of severe damage for each additional dose).

Thanks, Star.

Dads, with Ursula's sedative wearing off when the outpost self-destructs, maybe we should give Ursula another sedative at this point so we don't have to worry about it?

Also, should we leave the dead ensign's remains here?

OK. Lets give her another shot to keep her knocked out. We can leave the ensign's body outside with Ursula.

Hi guys,

I'm taking a brief break from these boards. Everything is okay. I just have an opportunity to go camping and hiking for the next two months. I've never been able to take that much time off at once before. But unfortunately, I'll be away from a keyboard.

Sorry for the short notice. It all came together at the last minute.

I realize that two months is a long time to NPC a character, Starbeard. Also, that we're down to two players. Sorry. Please feel free to do whatever you want. Kill him off, have him thrown into stasis by some mysterious engine, or get a replacement player since we're just beginning a mini-dungeon crawl. Whatever you have to do, I completely understand.

Have a great two months, everyone. See you on the other side.

Have fun with in the great outdoors, Inferno! I think what I'll do, considering that we're down to 1.5 and right at the start of the final-but-brief dungeon crawl, I'll post for new players to fill the rest of the roles, NPC Nadix, and carry on.

Welcome Captain Kinkajou to the party! He'll be taking on some redshirt ensigns. But don't let his namesake fool you—there won't be any Captain Kangaroo or Howdy Doody to see here, he'll play these gung-ho ensigns to the hilt! :D

CK, when you're ready, go ahead and post your ability score rolls in the character creation thread, and we'll pick/roll races and skills.

Also, we should determine the best way to swing new PCs into the party.

At full disclosure, the Janus is currently only 10 minutes out of contact. Assuming that the entire current party is inside the Slaver Outpost, the building would block any radio communication and you'd have no idea they were trying to hail you.

So instead, I'm thinking we can just say the party wasted 10 minutes debating something insignificant, the Janus arrives and pages your communicators, the current situation is explained, and the new party members beam down to replace the current NPCs. The ship's sensors won't be able to penetrate the Outpost anyway, and orbital bombardment is out of the question, so the best the ship can do is act as a lifeline that you can only communicate with while outside.

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.
