I've found this book helpful, personally.
I've already adjusted a couple of possible upcoming situations for PCs. Instead of "how many guns/katanas would make a challenging but balanced fight, toward going toward the next level?" Smart NPCs, who had their thing going on way before the PCs showed up. It's a whole different way of thinking. Goblin lord, defender of his realm, orcses and tricky magic-users pushing in. Defense of the tunnels vs raiding force going out. Etc. Decisions, decisions. And hobgoblin bullies coming in. Etc. Etc.

What a great idea for a book for GMs aand players. :)

Very excited. I had a somewhat difficult holiday season and learned of an issue I must address with one of my children. I will do my best to reply to posts responsively and not delay the preogress of the game.

Hi. Just a friendly reminder that, as per the DMG, infravision only detects warmth. So the rock face of the crater, and any creature that isn't warm-blooded, wouldn't be visible.

Hi jemmus. I don't think this is possible, based on the PHB spell description. But if you say the glyph's name, you can pass through the rift unharmed. Mungo knows its name.

I was thinking Mungo was inscribing on the ground. But if the unstable surface would be a problem, then on a tree trunk. If there's one available in the right area.

Mungo will use one round to create a glyph covering 5 square feet. It will be around 2 yards left of where he's marked on the map. (If he can move that far and still cast the spell this round). The top side of the square will abut the wall of the cave.

I was thinking on the ground but looking at the map and where she is I don't think that will be effective. If you are OK with it she will change her action and cast Protection from Evil and try and push it back into the cave so she can seal the cave.

I don't think that is going to work either. I will leave my post as is and try and get to the cave opening to place the ward there. If she can't get there she will fight with her mace. I will add an if/then post now. Thanks

It's one square = 10 feet. Squares are visible inside the cavern.

Also, a human-sized PC's initials indicate an area roughly 5 feet by 5 feet.
Gnome or ratman-sized PC initials represent roughly 2.5 feet by 2.5 feet.
