Loche

Pours a few buckets of briny seawater over himself, washing the sweat, grit and bloody stains away.

"Sunlight. I would like to feel the sun on my skin, though the desert above was a burning terror also."

He will follow the group when they land.

Amethu follows quietly. Reflecting. He holds the ancient staff close. Is this indeed over? is this but another trick of the twisted mind of Zargoth? He remains yet vigiliant.

Beneath the starless sky of the underworld, the Dark Ship escapes certain death and more.

Zargoth is destroyed! His reign over Verulia is broken! His tyranny is ended at last!

Amethu cannot believe it is true. Zahra fears for the fate of her under-dwelling kin. Cruloc and Loche hunger for the sun and the rain. Garrin wonders if he'll soon be able to bury the bones of Roan son of Rune.

Xorzen scans the wake of the destruction of the Island of Death and spies dark caves in the western cliffs of the vast cavern, crowned by a smoldering, red-limned crater. He and Kiri speak to the pale young woman they rescued from human sacrifice. Her name is Akara, a dreaming native of the Underground City, the last soul to be ferried by the ship of the damned to the Island of Death, and the first ever to return alive, thanks to the heroes. She weeps with sorrow and relief.

The Dark Ship lists to starboard as Mako turns the great wheel and the tattered sails fill with wind as he steers for the docks of the Underground City.

In the days and months that follow...

The priesthood of Zargoth destroyed, the adventurers enter their abandoned temple in the subterranean city and find the stolen wealth of a fallen empire. There too they discover the vile priests had long drugged the black lake with psychedelic mushrooms. Their water supply free of poison at last, the under-dwellers soon awaken from their thousand year dream.

The adventurers journey back to the Great Pyramid of Khemsa where they are hailed as heroes, and the fallen as sainted martyrs. Their miraculous triumph, and the hard-forged friendship of Amethu, Xorzen and Zahra, inspires an uneasy peace between the three Verulian sects that have bitterly feuded for generations.

Those of the Pyramid reunite with their lost brethren of the Underground City and the kingdom of Verulia is reborn. The hard work of rebuilding a society and restoring a great civilization begins. All thanks to the heroes whose names shall be legend forevermore.

The Great Pyramid of Xuthalhotep, Lost City of Khemsa, Forgotten Kingdom of Verulia
Great Eastern Desert, the World of Hyboria
19th day of the month of Ublez, 1280th year of the Age of Aquilonia

A new future dawns.

Months have passed since the fall of Zargoth the Demon-God. Garrin, Loche and Mako departed weeks ago and now the remaining heroes, Amethu, Cruloc, Kiri and Zahra, are bidden to meet with the triumvirate of once-feuding sects that now lead the newly reborn civilization of Verulia.

Ghorum of Osorus...

Dendara of Sekhmet...

and Usemhotep of Uthoth...

...humbly request that they go forth into the world, a world strange and mysterious to Amethu and Zahra, on an undertaking of crucial importance.

The wicked priests of Zargoth had destroyed all records of the Old Kingdom. To recover their lost history, the four heroes are asked to seek the ancient ruins of a mainland colony of Atlantis: Thracia, which lies near the Western Ocean.

In vaults deep beneath the city of Thracia was once the greatest library on Earth. Verulia's lost past would be found there. Maps of the old kingdom might locate sister cities and more Verulian survivors. Recovery of the royal lineage of Pharaohs would ensure that the rightful heir sits upon the golden throne of the Great Pyramid once more.

Atlantis was destroyed six millennia ago, swallowed by the ocean in a global cataclysm.

A contemporary of Ancient Verulia, it was of the ancient world; an epoch of strange magic, creatures and wonders the likes of which are not to be found in the world today.

In preparation, the Grand Magi of Uthoth teach Amethu the dead language, Atlantean. (please add to sheet)

On the vernal equinox, with Xorzen staying behind to help his people, the heroes say their farewells and set out to cross the Great Eastern Desert, laden with maps, treasure, and sustenance enough to survive the wastes. By charts and by stars, scholarly Amethu can navigate to the last known location of Thracia of lost Atlantis.

Their vital quest will take the better part of a year.
