My guess is the treasure vault.

If the McCoy wanted us to find the earring of Engine I am sure he would have kept it there

Ko-Nan looks east into the darkness where the alien fled - eager to follow. He hears the group behind him suggest they go deeper into the strange fortress. "Deeper!?! Why not back out to the open air!? Bah!" He takes a step forward - seeming ready to follow - and growls into the darkness. "Bah! Curse you!" He thrusts his axe threateningly into the darkness and then spins and stomps west with the group.

Tullia

Yes, going west away from the direction they went seems reasonable. Leaving this castle-ship is not really a good idea at the moment. Perhaps we will find a way to get across the desert or off this island. The open air wasn't all that safe. Let's go.

She will lead, if no one else volunteers. She is not fearful, but pissed at the constant attacks of strange creatures. This island sucks.

'Astro-Medicine' Chamber, Castle U.S.S. Enterprise
The Barren Wasteland, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Four. Night. March 28th, 912 CY

Image

The questers of The Kirk flee the bloody chamber of horrors and escape west through the curving corridor before more of the hideous creatures descend upon them!

Image

Beneath the flickering witchlights of the god ship, they pass six doors and realize with dread they are merely circling around!

Monique Quan

Shrugging her metallic shoulders, Monique will keep her Spiked Mace in one hand, Shield in the other and step to the nearest door, saying; "Well, perhaps we'll find something useful in one of these rooms", hoping for the strange 'magic' of the ship to open the door automatically for her.....

Hans the Shrewd

Hans pads along anxiously behind Moniqua and the others, his gaze seesawing between their front and rear. Despite the genuine delight the kaleidoscopic hallway brings him, his mood is tempered by the realisation that, in such a place, there is no place to hide.

He nods grimly at the suggestion of the silvery Amazon.

"Portals galore - hold they glory or gore?"

Castle U.S.S. Enterprise

Day Four. Night. March 28th, 912 CY

Image

Fleeing the sleek black horrors that have overwhelmed mighty The Kirk and his crew, the questers realize that their escape corridor is circling back around!

"Portals galore - hold they glory or gore?" observes Hans the Shrewd.

Monique bravely approaches the nearest door and it magically whooshes opens before her! Beyond is some sort of living quarters of the gods!

Image

The silver "star fleet officer" cautiously enters and finds it devoid of life.

Another sorcerous door within suddenly opens of its own volition, revealing yet another door and a strange baptismal font.

Image

Monique turns and scans the living quarters, discovering a small dark god's eye, many unidentifiable objects, and a serving tray of strange and uneaten food.

Hans the Shrewd

Hans inspects the living quarters, casting admiring looks at the vibrant greens, purples, and reds which illuminate its various sleek, transmundane surfaces. Surely gods must reside here! He sighs instinctively in wonderment.

He soon discovers its antechamber, cast in an otherworldly blue light, and what can only be a devotional font of the purest ivory dedicated to some sacred purpose - perhaps communion with some porcelain-skinned celestial being. Solemnly, he kneels before it. First supplicating at its polished bowl, he proceeds to dip both paws into the holy water contained within. Touching the aqua pura to his cracked, swollen lips, he offers his petition to the gods before liberally splashing the rest of it over his glabrous face and scalp.

"Say 'yes' to perfect skin," he mumbles, smiling serenely at the slack-jawed party.

Maskelyn
Maskelyn enters and sniffs at the strange foods on the tray. He glances at the dark God's Eye, and has a flash of inspiration: He takes one of the mysterious tiles and inserts it into the slot below the screen- edge first, not broadside.

i rolled % to see if he had this idea- got [1d100] = 100 percentile.

Tullia

As they walk the curving corridor, she remembers the general shape of the half- buried exterior. A thought occurs to her, Ah, of course! The outside was shaped like two plates stuck together. All the corridors would make a circle inside.

She stops and looks around. Listen up, friends! All of these hallways are circular, for this castle ship is round, like a dinner plate. We will have to be very careful, to avoid more of the monsters.

When she sees the "baptismal font," she has flashbacks to the pods with the nasty green goo.

Hans, get away from that! The last time we saw such things, they killed several people. If you must play in the water, look for something that looks like a proper stone basin.

Why me? Cats would be easier to herd.

The questers carefully explore the alien abode of the Gods!

Hans the Shrewd kneels before the porcelain throne and reverently baptizes himself in its holy waters.

Meanwhile, Maskelyn the prestidigitator slots a brightly colored prayer block into the sole God's Eye in the chamber. The magic oculus opens and its scrying mirror reveals visions wondrous and breathtaking!

Behold! A map of the astonishing Castle Enterprise!

His religious zeal sated, Hans begins exploring the room with a thief's eye - carefully opening containers, sniffing, looking behind plants, under pillows, etc.

Ko-Nan watches the group crowd around some strange image imprinted on the wall. He shakes his head in disbelief. "Can that sorcerous image show us our enemies?!?! They are indeed regrouping and will be back in force!" He looks around to see if the can make a barricade to defend against the acid-bleeding creatures.

Castle U.S.S. Enterprise
The Barren Wasteland, Forbidden Island of Xygax the Wizard, Land of One Thousand Towers
Day Four. Night. March 28th, 912 CY

Maskelyn cries, "Hallelujah! Praise the Bugs, who pranks us with one hand, and blesses us with the other! Thanks a lot, Doc!"

The malformed gnome and Adrock study the map vision in the scrying glass. The historian-priest can decipher the ancient hieroglyphics of the Gods and finds a dungeon level within the wondrous castle called Engine Earring although the spelling is of an archaic form. He also locates the star vessel's Bridge! If the questers are within the great circular rampart, as the curving corridor seems to indicate, then the bridge is somewhere above them, and the earring they seek is far below them.

Superstitious Ko-Nan refuses to gaze into the magic mirror. "Can that sorcerous image show us our enemies?!?! They are indeed regrouping and will be back in force!" the barbarian growls as he considers the bed as a barricade.

Image

Hans the Shrewd gently pillages the chamber and finds a tray of cold uneaten food, a box of white pellets, a strange head carved of green stone, a clear crystal globe, and an enigmatic iron artifact under the mattress:

Maskelyn
Maskelyn has some trouble making sense of the map. When the Bridge is pointed out to him, he places a fingertip on it and tries to figure out how to get there. His fingers leave greasy smudges on the God's Eye.
