That's Still Cold.......and Sharp
Round 8

Halo knows this evil beast must die, even if it means his own life may be forfeit. He steps back into the huge doorway and fires his bow at the black ape, sticking her with yet another arrow. She coughs out in disgust, blood and spittle flying out of from her gaping maw.

Wyntar distributes one potion to Xano, telling her to drink it down. She obliges and begins to effortlessly lift off of the ground. She draws steel and begins flying up towards the flank of Yesorkh. The mage gives another potion to Mira who has just changed herself from one ugly red snow demon into three of them. Wyntar then tries his magic again by suggesting that the enemy come down from her elevated position. She seems to easily shrug off his attempt to coerce her.

Blodget is barely able to get his potion past his frozen lips. He also begins flying up towards the demon, ready to have a go at her amulet. Trotter steps up and continues firing his bow. He hits the demon again with another pinpoint shot, staggering her for the first time.

Yesorkh can only ignore the two unseen foes heading towards her. She concentrates her efforts on the large group at the doorway. Her red eyes glare brightly as shards of ice begin to shoot from her fingers. The ice shards fly at the doorway, shooting just over the head of Trotter. They fan out, catching the oncoming Xano and all three members still huddled at the door. The shards blast into the heroes, tearing through flesh and freezing exposed skin. 16/8 dam Mira is able to avoid the damage but, one of her images vanishes, leaving only one remaining besides herself. She and the badly bleeding Wyntar are devastated when they see the great Halo Buckberry drop to the floor at their feet. The mighty warrior has finally succumbed to his many horrific injuries.

Xano seeing Halo fall flies at the demoness as fast as she can blinking behind her trying to bury her sword into her back.

Let the Bodies Hit the Floor
Round 9

With nearly every member of the party now at deaths door it would certainly be understandable if the heroes attempted a quick retreat. This group will have nothing to do with that nonsense, however. The battle continues as Yesorkh is now set upon with spell, sword, and arrow, usually a deadly combination. This time.........not so much.

Mira quaffs the speed potion given to her by the mage. She and her equally ugly ba'atun double take off flying very quickly towards the black snow demon, ready to join in the action. Blodget flies in real close but, for some reason he doesn't attack the nearly dead foe. Instead, he sneakily grabs ahold of the large gemstone adorned amulet around Yesorkh's neck. He yanks the gold chain from her body and tries to fly away immediately.

Trotter doesn't even notice the thief at work when he fires his bow again. His first arrow flies wide of Yesorkh but, the second one catches Blodget in the leg as he tries to fly away. 2 dam The snow queen freaks out once her amulet is stolen from her. She lashes out at the flying thief with one of her viscous claws, slashing him badly across his backside. 6 dam She grabs at her amulet with the other hand, starting a quick mid air tug-of-war between her and the thief.

Xano flies up close and then blinks in behind the battling demoness. She attempts a blindside backstab on the preoccupied ape creature. Unfortunately, she isn't used to fighting while flying and she ends up missing her adversary completely. Wyntar lets Halo bleed at his feet as he opens his spell book and casts yet another spell directly from its pages. His magical missiles shoot unerringly towards Yesorkh but at the very last second they are instantaneously sucked into the large gem hanging from the amulet that the pair was fighting over. The static shock that they both receive is enough to cause their hands to open, letting the amulet drop through the air towards the massive pile of treasure below. Yesorkh snaps her nasty maw towards Blodget as she continues to grip onto one of his arms, digging her claws even deeper into his soft flesh. The tiny thief is just barely able to avoid the certain death rending from the demons long fangs and knarly canines.

Morgi jumps back on the broom and flies over the heads of the roaming skeletons. He makes his way past the disgusting temple and through the next door. He flies down a huge set of stairs and sees another door at the bottom. When he reaches the doorway, he sees a large room with another door at the far end. In that far doorway stands the white wizard Wyntar, casting spells into a room with huge pile of treasure. Little Halo is there as well, lying at the wizards feet.

If Mira sees the fallen jewel...

Mira's dark eyes follow the much sought after gem as it tumbles to the floor. Wyntar, the Jewel! She will keep on her current course to attack the Demon with her staff.

Trotter curses when his shot hits his friend, but then his eyes go wide when he sees the amulet suck the magic missiles. He drops his bow and brings his blade to bear on the jewelry post haste.

Sword of Sharpness to hit [1d20+4] = 19+4 = 23, dmg v l [1d8+15] = 5+15 = 20
Who knows is this will work but it's worth a shot. Speaking of shots, sorry Blodget :?

Morgi is happy that is has finally caught up with the group, but sad that he has apparently let them down. He speeds to the body of the paladin lying on the ground and drops a healing spell on him.

[2d8+] = 7 CSW on Halo OOPS: I missed the +1 so make it 8

With that, he extracts his Rod, grips his Scimitar and readies his rings.

Wyntar knows that Magic Missiles should hit unerringly and his have not, they're being absorbed by Yesorkh's gem. Fortunately, Yesorkh is no longer wearing said item. He shouts, Do not destroy the gem!! Attack Yesorkh directly!!. He uses the Staff of the Peaks against the Witch! Magic Missile

Time To Fly Away!
Round 10

After what seems like several hours, Morgi finally rejoins the others. He feels a bit down on himself for not being there when the group really needed some help so he rushes over to Halo and cures him with natures herbs and magic. The tiny paladin slowly opens his eyes. He and the tardy half-elf turn their attention to the next room where all hell is currently breaking loose.

Mira spots the gem falling through the air and calls outs for the wizard to do something about it. Her two forms fly incredibly quickly towards the black demon. She strikes out twice with her staff but, neither blow contacts the beast effectively. The amulet crashes down to the pile as Trotter rushes up to it. He swings his magical sword hard into it, smashing it into pieces with a thunderous crash and bright explosion of light. The light is so intense that he is temporarily blinded by the flash.

Wyntar hears the cries of Mira but ignores them. He warns Trotter (a little too late) that he should NOT strike at the amulet and attack Yesorkh instead. The wizard knows his magic missiles and he also knows of ways to protect against them. He correctly deduces that this "amulet" is nothing more than a simple modified version of a Broach of Shielding. Or.........it was, I should say.

Blodget continues to scream out in pain as the black beast tears his flesh with her tight grip and long claws. The little halfling tries and tries to pull himself free but so far he is only causing more damage to himself for his effort. (2 dam) He sees the wizards tiny missiles flying towards him again and prays that they don't hit him by accident.

After seeing yet another party member join in the fight, and bringing the holy one back around no less, the badly injured Yesorkh realizes that she can not win this fight. She decides that she will flee this cloud castle that she worked so hard to obtain. She will use her spells to escape and fly away, settling down in a dark cave somewhere to begin raising another ba'atun army. An army that she can use to seek out and kill every member of this pesky group that has just defeated her and ruined her plans to control the entire mountain range.

She intones her magic and almost instantly an opaque shimmering magical portal opens up directly in front of her. As she begins to enter her extra dimensional doorway, dragging the tiny thief along with her, presumably for food, something extraordinary happens. Wyntar's missiles unerringly blast into her, not killing her outright but, slowing her down for just one split second.

That split second is all the time that Xanophia the flying she-elf needs. With one strong swing of her powerful sword, Xano nearly chops Yesorkh's ugly head from her disgusting body. Clearly severing the spinal cord, her ape-like head falls disturbingly to one side, hanging on by only a little skin and some fur. The large beast begins to plummet to the ground, still clutching little Blodget in her now dead claws. The thief tries to fly away from her but her sheer weight is dragging him quickly towards the floor with her.
