7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Thorax:
Attendance at the Tavemple has been increasing, albeit slowly. Cormack and Thorax have been working hard to make the Tavemple nice, and now have a new project in making Glimble some armor
There are several dwarves that you could interview for positions. Are you mostly looking for a full time Bartender/Clergyman? Wisdom is a known side-effect of long periods serving drinks to the masses.
Thorax, to whom will you bring the gems? Do you want to show them to Ganon? Fist sized gems are bound to raise eyebrows everywhere and may spark interest from a seedy element if you flash them around at typical jewelry stores.
Next up:
-Identification of the items (I'm assuming you guys use 1000gp from the Water Opal and split the rest of the coin from selling the gem 7 ways?
-Roseheart, do you want to join the Mages Order?
-Vek, Roseheart, and TBD, head to the huge block party and look for signs of the fat man.
-After that it looks like I got all the leveling up right. Did everybody look to see if they get new proficiencies slots (weapon and non-weapon?). Vek took a new proficiency in Urban Hunting (tracking people down in cities)
Another note, that magical 2h sword is definitely too big for dwarves to use.

Tella - Mage
OCC: Not sure how party wants to handle the distribution but the recommendation above works fine. Tella is also happy to share her spellbook with Roseheart if he is also (trading spells). As far as distribution goes we really don't have a method. Tella has not found any nifty items either (she bought everything she has). Any recommendations?

quite happy if we keep the usual arrangement group money pool or fund and we only keep items of personal interest like the staff and all the weapons Glimble has taken so far.

Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Thorax is looking specifically for Priests for the Tavemple. Also he would like to check on the Dwarf and his daughter we met with Trevor. As for the sword and gems. Is Thorax wrong to believe that those were left as part of a Clerical magic puzzle from Dumathoin and not for sale, but instead are important cultural/religious relics?
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Thorax, you could probably find a cleric of Dumathoin and learn more about these items, and whether they would have further religious significance.
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Here are discounted healing potion prices from Rhaegeff's friend:
1d8 healing potions for 200gp (you could purchase 5 with your 100pp), 2d4+2 healing potions for 300gp, finally he does make 3d8+3 healing potion for 1500gp (but you would need to use more pp...

Thorax will look one up.
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Respectfully, the 2H sword was clearly made to be used. And dwarves cannot wield 2H swords.
Maybe we could just start by listing what we've found since Roseheart and Vek joined the team...
Am I missing any items that weren't sold off for cash that was equally split among the party?

Ganon:
Ganon thanks Thorax for the continual light pebble. He will then visit a jeweler to have the pebble mounted on a ring. He asks the jeweler to create a ring that looks like a single eye with a closing lid with a spring and locking mechanism. The eyeball of course being the continual like pebble.

Looking at it, I just realized Thorax was planning to make Glimble some armor. Dwarven plate mail, gnomish size?
Let me know if I got anybody's HP or anything wrong.

That first staff I don't actually have. I also don't have anything called a magical bean on my sheet. So take those and list them as not taken by anyone.Inferno wrote:Respectfully, the 2H sword was clearly made to be used. And dwarves cannot wield 2H swords.

Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Thanks GW.
DarkMane, does the party still have those? Do we know any more about what they are, and who can wield them? (in 1e, only certain classes can use a staff. Not sure about 2e)
Thanks.

Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
The staff with Magic Mouth was destroyed by fire, it had kept yelling about, and may have attracted monsters if you guys didn't do something quick.
Meanwhile, Thorax consults with a priest of Dumathoin, an older dwarf with white beard and yellow white mane. He tells Thorax, that part of Dumathoin's ethos is "bringing the secrets of the earth up to the surface world for use". Normally, Dumathoin keeps his secrets so if he sets up a puzzle like that and you find the treasure, part of accepting the reward is using the items and treasures. It is your responsibility to see they get used and not horded away again under ground.

Thanks. And the magic beans? How many beans are there?Darkmane wrote:The staff with Magic Mouth was destroyed by fire, it had kept yelling about, and may have attracted monsters if you guys didn't do something quick.
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Thorax considers the words of the Priest. "Very well. I offer thanks to Dumathoin and his Priests. Please spread the word of his worship in Waterdeep at the Tavemple.". With the words still in his ears Thorax returns and seeks out Ganon. Showing him the four gems he asks that they we appraised and sold. That is unless Ganon can find something more worthwhile Thorax might use as a trade. He imagines that they would be worth quite the large sum to the right party. As for the sword Thorax remembers his lucky strike with it and heading to find Vek offers a trade of his own. " I mastered the riddle of Dumathoin to retrieve this. Master the riddle of Clangeddin to earn it. Come Vek, wrest it from me and lose yourself in battle.". With that Thorax lays the sword down at his feet and assumes a traditional wrestling stance.
Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
*I'm going to have to look back to figure out how many beans there were.
*Tella and Roseheart get the Rod and Sword identified (there is only 1000gp left over from the water opal to split)
-Rod of Absorption - 5 charges left, 6 stored energy levels - it can be used to absorb enemy attack spells cast at the bearer, and then the stored energy levels allow a priest or wizard to cast a spell without using up their slot. A third level spell takes three stored energy levels, etc...
- The two handed sword is known as the "The Flame of the North" - more on that once I find the right book to dig up the stats

Tantos Vek, failed paladin:
Vek obliged one of the warrior priest's two requests. He would attempt to wrest it from him. But he would fight with his usual grim, pragmatic, dispassionate, workmanlike style.
Vek would not lose himself in battle.
Yet.

Re: 7-Undermountain, Trip 3: Gratecrashers
Flame of the North: Two handed Sword +1, flame tongue, +2 vs. most regenerating creatures, +3 vs. cold-using inflammable, or avian creatures, +4 vs. undead and trolls: This sheds light when its possessor speaks a command word or phrase. When activated, the flame tongue sword's fire illuminates the area as brightly as a torch. The flame from this sword easily ignites oil, burns webs, or sets fire to paper, parchment, dry wood, etc. Cold-using creatures are those whose attack mode involves cold (ice toads, white dragons, winter wolves, yeti, etc.). All damage inflicted by this blade is un-able to be regenerated by trolls.
This sword was forged before Waterdeep existed, by dwarves. The elves enchanted the blade with fire magic and gave it to the human barbarians who lived in the north. It was one of the forces that help wrest these lands from the Trolls and other humanoids at the dawn of civilization. Rumors are there were three magical weapons made at the same time, but the Flame of the North was the most famous.
